Rendering one of this month's purchases: https://www.daz3d.com/dforce-elven-archer-outfit-for-genesis-8-females

It's very pretty, and the bow poses well (didn't have to rearrange the pivot point to get it into place, always a plus in my book). I borrowed an archery pose from G8M in another bow set. However, those sleeves... In a serious archery-focused render, I'd leave out the top and borrow a good solid bracer from any other set. My left underarm hurts just looking at this.

The hair is https://www.daz3d.com/devil-may-deluxe-hair-for-genesis-2-3-8-female-s, one of my go-to updos. The character is Alatariel, from the other place.

Yeah archery and loose sleeves don't mix well

  • memcneil70memcneil70 Posts: 4,120

Loose sleeves and archery poses; vegetation appropriate to the season/region you want to render; avoiding cultural taboos... Daz is a serious education and/or a realization I am not as knowledgeable as I thought I was. Humbles me. Good for the soul.

I caught part of the Light sale. One light set, one shader, and an HDRI.

    https://www.daz3d.com/architectural-glass-shader-presets-for-iray

    https://www.daz3d.com/li-incandescent--photobox-for-iray

    https://www.daz3d.com/mec4d-hdri-norman-castle-megapack

All have been on my wish list for a long time. I absolutely hate it when too many great products are released on the same day, and I have to choose between them because of a limited budget.

I think Tobasco Jack mentioned he was thinking about working on another set or something. Maybe there is hope his store will open again?

Over on the sales thread, talking about vendors who "left." Found this regarding TobascoJack. :(    Mary did a nice render of one of his sets. Miss his work!

Not leaving, but Firstbastion just posted a list of his older products that are about to be retired from the store (his choice, I believe) here.

Nice of him to post the list; but it's not much help because the products appear to already have been pulled no

Ah, sorry, I had the impression they were on their way rather than gone already!

Sorry about that, I sent the email but expected it would be days before they got around to cleaning house. My apologies.

Just want to let you know about the new Complete Beauty collection boudoir which I tested. The bundle is a great deal.

Here is the description by the PA (@Sylvan) : For the boudoir I wanted it to be a fully out-of-the-box scene, with lights, camera's and working parts. Such as a functioning door that opens in a hallway so you don't have a void.
Here's what included with the boudoir:
    - moving parts: door, doorhandle, window, window lock, clock hands, all the drawers of the vanity, curtains can individually be opened and closed and the bottle has liquid morphs
    - many, many material options
    - lights included are: natural sunlight, 2 ghostlight settings and all the lamps have 2 separate illumation settings
    - 7 camera's
    - all the walls, including the ceiling can be easily hidden with presets
    - 2 base poses for the chair and sofa

Made this with it (can't resist a cat and a few birds!)

    Chasing

@xmasrose   That render is adorable, love the cat and birds (as long as the birds get away!)

I got Xion HD for Genesis 8 Female with the Steam Punk and Street Detective Bundle. I see a blue line where the various surfaces meet when I render under Sun and Sky and I don't like the jagged edge of the shadow across her forehead and on the left hand side of her neck. I can get rid of the blue line, or at least make it less obvious, by reducing the Translucency from 0.8 to 0.4.

Oh drool!  That customizable pirate ship is in that group where you can get it for 70% off if you buy 3 of the new debut. Did you see the details in that? And below deck with the cannons is awesome. The wheel is gorgeous, too. I have enough props to put in the room with the table/chairs from other sets and I like the open space of that room to play with. It goes to $9.88 and I think that's a steal for that much work with multiple rooms.

These are the three sets I'm looking at (when you get three of the new debuts)

Okay, someone PLEASE model this and offer it for sale LOL!  Can you picture glass floors to watch the fish? Awesome!!!!  And I'm first down that slide! Believe it or not, one of my extremely rich relatives had a home here in Pensacola with a slide going to the pool from a second story room/porch. Their staircase from the first floor had a huge landing on the second story which jutted out into a room and that had a shower and the glass doors leading to a small porch with the slide. Kinda hard to explain, the porch/landing room was built on top of the roof of part of the house on the first floor. Stairs were hidden on the far side of the home  with vegetation to climb back up to the porch.  Really neat!

Just bought interactive licenses for the China Houses & Mediterranean Seashore this past week but have only managed to do a render with the Mediterranean Seashore so far. I'm really likely all the great sets I'm starting to accumulate from the DAZ Store.

  • If you're looking for an alternative to Photoshop, and lots of other graphical goodies, the people at Humblebundle have a stack of Corel products - Aftershot, Paintshop Pro, Painter, Coreldraw, and stacks of brushes - for just 30 USD. Better still, a slice of that money goes to one of my favourite charities - Room to Read. They ran a similar offer last year which I bought - so I can vouch for their authenticity.

Not sure I'm allowed to put a link here, but google for "humblebundle be a creative superhero" and you'll find it. The offer is open for another 20 days.

That IS a good bundle. CorelDraw (Corel Photo Paint) is my go-to, but it's a shame this is a subscription :(   Glad I own mine!  The brushes look similar to what I've already got with Ron's brushes, I've got so many I don't really have time to go through these and compare. It is a fantastic deal however!!! Thanks so much for telling us about it!  yes

Is this close enough? No slide, but a lot of glass walls and some floors.

There is actually a anchored vacation house in the sea already in the DAZ Store but darn if I can remember the name of it.

No, it's an older one and smaller. I think it's mostly metal and glass and far enough out to sea that there is no beach modeled, just sea. I think the one you linked might be closer to that ocean house in the Maldives Novica linked too.

Yeaaaa!  I own all these :)  I just love the interior of the one I linked (but I'm trying to figure out what that thing is at the foot of the bed, looks like an oversized trunk sitting on bricks?)

It's three trunks stacked up on top of each other

I know throughout the years, people have been disgruntled about this website- but it seems to be reaching an all-time high. More of the established shoppers saying they've had enough and don't bother to do carts much anymore. I know I don't, the sales are complicated and if you look at some of the extended explanations on the sales thread, you just have to shake your head.

Daz's new mantra: This does This, when you add That, Whatever happens, but Whatchamacallit removes This totally and That stops discounting but Whatever is fine...

Look at this hot mess of a post!   While Daz is trying hard to give buyers good deals, they're over complicating it. What we've been TRYING to tell them- it's no good if it doesn't WORK.

Yes, I know what you mean. The faster my computer & video card gets the more and better I'll be able to use such scenes. I love the old fashioned colors. Watersplash is from the Liquid Pack (in 3DL but I apply the UberiRay material shader presets to the modeled geometries as they are free and work well)

And DAZ's newest sales I'm not bothering to figure out. It's like complex variable calculus and with a website that's already slow and buggy it's not worth the work. I load future carts and wait for DAZ sales to come along that discount some of the items in the cart.

By the way, it you have the chrome based MS Edge you can create lists of  pages called 'Collections' which are essentially bookmark folders with bookmarks to create different DAZ Wishlists. Google Chrome I think has the same feature. It's pretty convenient to prioritize what DAZ items you want most.

So is this the new site look? If you just go to Shop and look at the main gallery, there's fushia "New" and the print is also different. That's just at a first glance. It's also got what figure it works with, and there's a little dohickey for environments, props, etc. Edit- as I mentioned over in Commons, the main promo can get squashed. Look at the New Debut, the Gila Monster Truck. OH NO! That reminds me of those horrible promos from that other site that merged here, and they didn't fit well dimensionally.

Product Library now has this: (still no description. Do they think this is ALL we'll accept for a fix????!!!!) Adding a link to a readme????

Initial response is that I don't like it!  In fastgrab there is a SALE icon which almost completely hides the wishlist heart icon, and the pricing info is harder to read - current price and % discount not bold or highlighted.  Recent messy sales, the paypal purchase failure at the end of August, almost 4 weeks to resolve a sales issue are all contributing to making me an unhappy and less frequent buyer.

Oh, and my wishlist has vanished twice in the last month - as in showed no items in my wishlist, then recovered after a day or so.

To be frank, the sale structure has made it easy for me to cut spending.  I have a significant enough library to create without new content.  Life is just so busy right now that I am too tired to try to figure out how it is supposed to work vs. how it does work.  I would rather invest my time creating.

With the new layout, I did not find a way to wishlist a produce from the main page, only from the product page.

  • memcneil70memcneil70 Posts: 4,120

First impression of the new site, not good. All that bright white, the font they chose, is very hard to read, and just to make it fun, today I have had a migraine from hell and just looking at the page, or any page with a group of those for sale items, hurts bad. Like sparking neon white flashing lights bad.

I did see that if I ghost my mouse over the promo images in Fast Grab, the wishlist icon expands, so it is easier to see. But, on a page of 50 items, I probably would just resort to ticking the show wishlist only option, and ignore everything else.

On a positive note, someone in the PC+ forum pointed out that Collective3D is now on the other store and I found new items by the PA. Going to pickup in the morning.
