Purchased yesterday and just downloaded. Thank you, Those Things for making those things ;-)

Only "bad" is that this thing is so big that I need to make that shift from a 1TB to a 2TB external SSD for my library sooner I suppose.

Looking forward to using it - still wrestling the download into submission (three files keep failing), but I'll get there...

  • Ha ha, sorry everyone. I guess the product should have a warning label on it about how much hard drive space 41 4k textures and 41 2k textures is going to consume. surprise

It's 290 textures!  Those normal maps are killer.  And how'd that BMP get in there?

Ha ha, oops, I meant "shaders". I just woke up. cheeky

I don't know how that bitmap got in there. Probably saving out from Substance Alchemist, I hit the wrong button. Still works, though, so I got that going for me, which is nice. This was the first set of shaders I've ever done, and I thought making them 4k would be really cool. Then, I thought, "but what if people don't want 4k, you should give them a 2k option too", and the next thing I knew, I had created this...beast.

Considering this is the first set of shaders you've ever done, I can honestly say I REALLY hope you do more! In absolute sincerity, these are some of the most high-quality shaders in my library. The fact that this is your first go at them is incredible, I can't wait to see what else there is to come!

And now, a nice relaxing bath. In cereal.

I did not get asked to host Christmas lunch again this year crying

Just a sight of beauty and good use of the food shaders. Well done.

That was indeed my thinking. I thought I would default to the "this is just a small thing in the background of a scene" and just let everyone choose displacement. Also, in my tests, I found that different models with different poly counts would displace differently, so there wasn't a one-sized-fits-all displacement setting I could use. Better, I thought, to leave it in the hands of the end user.

    Got it yes

It's a lovely set, and can already tell it will get a lot of use from me. One small request for the next set (because I'm definitely hoping there is one). Can you break the packages up into 2K and 4K sets? Meaning, it would be nice when downloading from DIM to choose whether to just download the 2K textures or 4K textures or grab both packs if you want both. I have to admit with a Titan RTX, I'm probably never going to use the 2K so it's just extra HD space. I would imagine someone who has a 6 or and 8gb video card is going to want the opposite due to the size that 4K textures take up.

Just a small request for next. Great product and thank you for making it.

  • thanks all heart I have an awful lot of food props, that was a tiny selection, now to convert them to Carrara shaders and use them on meatballs ... I mean metaballs, particles and FLUIDOS surprise

I'm a little wary of the raw hamburger strawberry tart, but up for everything else.

Definitely. I've learned my lesson with this set, and I'm going to divide the next one. I'm even having trouble downloading it myself (I've got five succesful so far) so I'm feeling chopping it up.

    You lucky people.

    I am stuck with "Download failed" for part 02, 03 , 04, 06, 09 and 10.

    All renders look delicious.

I spent most of today failing to download 02, 06 and 09. In the end, 6 and 9 downloaded through DIM and 2 manually. Just keep going...

Yay, I got finally part 03 installed - only 5 parts to go.

FWIW, I haven't found that an SSD was necessary for external DAZ Content. Min Content is on an external USB 3 drive and I don't see long load times. That way you can get a much large drive for much lower cost.

Of course a HDD would do as well. Had a 4 TB external HDD for my library a long time. Won't go back from SSD though. Faster (and with the hundreds of figures I have every second counds not to having to wait ages for a plain G8F to load) and more flexible. Then there are further advantages like lighter, not having to worry about moving the thing too fast etc.

    My setup is like this:
MacBook Pro as my machine running Studio on the internal HDD.
External 4 TB HDD for DIM downloads (I never delete after installation) and purchases from other sites.
External 1 TB SSD for the library.
    - If it is just for rendering the 4 TB can stay at home and also serves as a backup

I finally got all 10 files downloaded! What a struggle. Here is a plate of yellow food. The thing really missing from this set of shaders is cooked meat. I would have liked to make nice hamburger patties out of those flattened round lumps.

But...there is a cooked hamburger patty shader, so you could have!

  • I should also mention that if you monkey around with the tiling on that cooked hamburger shader, you can achieve some other meaty looks.

  • The 4k shaders work really well with my Titan RTX. Hopefully you make more.

Yeah, I wasn't going to mention it, but often with shader sets like this, vendors will include tiling utilities.  It's not hard to do the tiling manually if you have a little experience, but they help out new users a lot.  In this case, some displacement utilities would have been handy as well.

at least DAZ studio tiles everything at once by default though

    unlike all my other softwares

    a curse and a blessing
