    Coming up- a different look at Bethany.

    1.) Replaced the materials with Summers.

    2.) Made Surface Pane changes so far as the Base, Translucency, Metallic Flakes, etc. In other words, my own custom blend. So not "Summer" anymore.

    Also darkened the iris color and the lip color via Surface Pane.

    3.) Using body part sliders only (no People sliders, like dialing in Victoria 7, etc) made a custom character.

    If you don't like the muddy-ruddy or orangey skins of Genesis 3, you can putz in Surfaces and create a wonderful spectrum of skin tones and sheen. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised when you see what you can do with Bethany- what I like is the arms and legs. They have such a realistic weight added to them, and by reducing that massive bust and thinning the hips a bit, you get a gal that's solid without being busty. The thighs were toned and reduced slightly. What I was going for (and am very happy with) is a heavier figure that isn't a model, that has hips and a thicker waist, solid shoulders and legs, with meat on her bones!

    I am running errands and this is currently rendering. I'll be back in about an hour- storms coming in so have to get out the door. (8:36am central time.)

    Here she is, she finished up a bit quicker than anticipated so I stuck around.

    I like that. I confess the original bethany texture is too orange for me. Although, perhaps it wouldn't bother me so much if V7 weren't a similar shade. I like your revised version with Summer texture

    This is the first time playing with the morphs to make changes and customize a character- the Genesis 3 has some nice additional morphs but is still missing the main one that I wanted. (I d formed it for Genesis 2)  That is the ability to move the "wings" as they call it on Genesis 3 nose to increase in height. (The wings are not the nostril holes, it's the skin around and above the hole.) You can increase the size in various ways, but not ONLY vertically. It increases the size of other parts too.

    So this is a closeup of her face (Bethany with Summer skin, Surface changes, and customized facial morphs)

    Yeah, too much burnt sienna coloring in the gen 3 line females. It puts me off, because it doesnt' look quite right. And I am not much for tweaking skins. Not when there are so many great skins for gen 2 female which require little tweaking. =-)

    Wonder if the Genesis 3 Male will have the same problem? Ugh.

    I love the jet ski- will problaby buy it. I don't care for all that stuff hanging off the hammock- seems a bit cluttered IMO. Don't know if they are a separate material zone or not (to be hidden.)  What is a Node Instance?  "2 Props and Node Instance included in scene"

    The jetski looks good. The challenge is making water that doesn't look like gel to go with it. I haven't mastered that, I'm afraid.

    I think the stuff hanging below the hammock is lace. But I would expect the cord and net type near the ocean. Lace doesn't seem too durable.

    Now THIS is my idea of a hammock. It's quilted, comfy pillow, mediterranean flair. Sign me up! (But I do love the detail of the one in the store. The closeup of the rope shows it really well.)  The stand on this one is $300 and not included, but I love that style. This is what I'd like to see in a hammock- don't want the drop down lace or anything else. Anyone buy the hammock? Can those lace drop downs be hidden?

    For water, in 3DL turn ON Progressive and see what it does. Faveral shared that tip, remember when I was doing the Lake Village?  I switched to Progressive and Bam! Looked like the promo art. (You know me and water, test test test. Didn't have to with that set.) 

    (Hang on, I'm checking to see if I still have the renders or if they are on the external hard drive)

    Here's the exact same lighting, only thing changed was switched Progressive ON. Amazing difference, eh?

    (You folks who haven't gone back through the other 5 threads might want to do that- the Invited Guest Contributors had a lot of great tips and product reviews too.) The threads are linked in the first post.

    For this sale, it doesn't have anything for me as I own most of Lyoness already. If you haven't done the math-   Kassandra is 17.95 but 30% off at 12.57. The promo will get you 50% off so it will be 8.58, a savings of 3.99 (let's round it to 4.00) It clearly states the 50% will replace the 30%, not stack. If you do buy body morphs (the sliders I already have are fine for what I do) The Garden Club girls are already 9.07 and they become free.So a $13.07 deal if you want body morphs.

    So you need to spend less than $13 or you're not getting a deal there. Then for the cat 70% offs-  I'm only seeing 4 things, so does it hide what you own?

    I honestly think most of us who have been around already have had many opportunities to buy these already. (Summer Savings, so many times these items have been on sale, one is a PC item anyway.)  So this is a sit out sale for me because as a Lyoness fan, I already have most the gals. smiley

    I didn't buy, but I checked it out in the cart. I would have bought something, but you would need to buy something at full price which for me was $17.95-18.95.

    I was spoiled by the Bridging The Gap sale. I bought 10 G2F characters I didn't have at very deep discounts. No-brainer, really. cheeky

    I was excited when I first saw it, as a chance to finally pick up Brynn.  But she's not actually on sale, just the key to the others.  I'm not particularly interested in the garden morphs or Kassandra, and can do without the cat for now.  So, nothing for me this time around, I'll wait for there to be a real sale on lyoness.

    LOL, I don't know what I plugged into the calculator, but what kind of math do you expect at 4:36am? I was out in the yard by 6am, spraying it for fleas. Pesky things! This year seems particularly bad. 

    I don't remember what I got from Bridging the Gap, I think it was a couple things. When the Summer Sizzle was going on, during the month and a half stores were 60% off and I got 50% off that (and sometimes things were 70% off to start with in Fast Grab.) I blew my budget so have to behave. But you got some fantastic deals! Have you rendered any of them?

    If you are getting two releases and therefore an additional 10% off your order, consider wishlist items of older items and combining that with your PC+ vendor discount to take another $6 off. I'm getting these glasses for iray as they have the shaders preloaded and they can be used in many scenes (including the living room for today.) I tried my code a minute ago and it's not working, so don't know if it's that product or the codes overall. I've never had a problem with my codes (knock on wood.) 

    Edit: Well, upon reading the promo, the discount isn't automatically applied so this won't work as you have to put in a code to get the 10% so you can't put in your PC+ code.

    Heads up, Richard contacted DAZ and that 10% is now working on a broad range of items now, it's NOT only the new releases in that promo.

    Can't turn off headlamp in Perspective camera- is that true? So even in Render Settings when you do "Never" for the headlamp, it still shows in Perspective camera?

    I believe that is correct. Perspective view is not a "real" camera. You don't see it listed in your scene view as a camera. You can't select it and change its parameters.

    Yep, I should have said view. I was reading two different threads at the same time. In Dreamlight's tutorial, he says to create a camera but doesn't say why, guess he thought it was intuitive.

    Ah, that's right- anything I have already purchased wasn't showing. I keep forgetting about that feature!

    Would those HDRI sets do well with Iray? I don't know enough about the Environment Map and what gets plugged in there. When I read what's included, it's like reading another language.
