Here's Scott 6 . All these men are with the exact same lighting. And of course, Scott Hair. I put Scott in the same pose as Dusty so you can easily compare. One thing I do not like about Scott are the pecs being so ripped that there are horizontal lines pulling at the inside of each pec- the sternum area. You can't see it very well here, but you can really see the almost puckering look with the promo.
An Art Studio friend could use some support. If you have an extra minute or two, consider posting some encouragement?
Another of Scott, this time with Funky Hair For Genesis 2 Male(s) and wearing Alternate Identity.
Scott and Dusty are kind of cute. I like your renders better than the promos. Garen isn't showing up - I think the link is broken.
I have resisted buying Scott because GM3 is supposed to be out soon and I am thinking why another G2M? But you are making it tempting.
Okay Topaz time. If you're not aware of those products, Topaz Labs has wonderful toys to play with. I'm going to take Joanie and show some of the filters (usually at their default values) It's fun to tinker!
This is all Topaz Glow effects. First is the regular Joanie Iray render. (did it without dramatic lighting so we could see the effects better.)
Second is Kaleidoscope
Third is Squiggly Lines II
Fourth is Fur and Featherse II
Last is Air Brush
On all of these, it was with the multi color hue. You can choose a red overall hue, green, blue, etc.
Okay, more Topaz Glow.
First is Into the Light. I really like this one, like an electric ghost!
Second is Graphic (reminds me of cold marble)
Third is Muted Dusk II
Last is Brilliant Fibers. And there are a lot more filters!
Okay, now you can go back and take a peek at Garen. The image was there the past two days, I wonder why it went poof? Makes me wonder about going back through the thread and seeing if anything else is playing peek a boo. Thanks for letting me know.
I got Scott pretty much to get the other two characters. I do think they add to the gene pool :)
What the heck is going on with the forum images? These were all in twos, side by side, AFTER posting. I come back and they are single file. (and the image disappearing?)
Anyway, Topaz has Remask on sale, if you want easy smeezy masking. I haven't gotten it yet, as I haven't done masking in Photoshop, but it says its much easier.
Beautiful promo images in the Sequins Shader!
If you have Elven Armor for Genesis 2 Female(s) will you test it and see if you get the messed up mesh in the middle of the mail? (breast plate) It doesn't matter what size the chest is, I get that messed up section in between the breasts. I've done it twice and made sure the character was selected. First is the promo image, second is mine.
I will say this, Elven Armor dazzles in Iray! I'm doing a render testing it, and wow. It's a shame I can't get the breast area mesh to fix itself (using only the adjust sliders. If the vendor shows an image of what the mail looks like, I should get that. So I'm sure something is screwing up with my studio.)
What character are you fitting it to?
It is on Tressie
She's not quite done (Iray, you can see some of the little white dots, showing it is still in progress) but I wanted you to see the chest.
From what I can see at a quick glance with that breastplate, if you dial any character body shape or combination that is not specifically listed as supported on the product page, the mesh starts to shred / distort (how bad this distortion is depends on the character morph you try to dial in). Then again, on some of the supported body shapes, it also distorts, especially under the arms. That really should have been caught by QA, but these things happen. Still, it's disappointing.
Okay, let me check. The Elven Armor says:
Supported Genesis 2 Female Shapes:
Aiko 6
Gia 6
Giselle 6
Olympia 6
Stephanie 6
Teen Josie 6
The Girl 6
Victoria 6
And Tressie is Victoria 6, and also says Genesis 2 Female Body Morphs, but most of they say that, don't they? If not, that would be the only thing screwing it up I would think. I loaded Tressie and did not add any other morphs, she was out of the box.
EDIT: Tested it on Genesis 2 Female and it does fine. So the issue is with Tressie's shape, even though she is Victoria 6, which is one of the listed figures. Custom characters for that figure don't work I guess.
Okay, I switched outfits. The entire purpose of all this was to show you the wonderful Synthetics for Iray shaders. I love that you have matte and glossy options for each shader and they are separated out with all glossy in one section, all matte in another.
If you don't have Galaxy for Genesis 2 Female(s) outfit, it's got SUPER fun material zones. And that neckline is really custom, unusual. I'm sure you have an outfit that has surprised you by how much you like it, and this is one of mine. You can put it with pants, use it for closeups, etc. And of course, this is FWSA Tressie HD for Victoria 6. She's wearing Phoebe Hair (I'm not linking things we've linked to numerous times previously)
Galaxy renders fast in IRAY too. This too me 20 minutes. Elven was over an hour.
EDIT: BTW, the jacket is separate, so you can have a strapless top.
Nice, I was just about to say, I'm not seeing that polygon-mess with a deferent outfit on FWSA Tressie, tho I'm not going to say it is perfect with what I chose. Something similar to Skirt-triangle going on with loose shirts. However even straight from the smart tab there is NO odd poke threw issues to fuss with.
This is with no adjustments made to the outfit at all, so you can see just what minor issues you may need to deal with... J Girl for Genesis 2 Female(s) top, Ladybug Outfit shirt, and Ghawazee shirt.
It may be a lack of 'Genesis 2 Female Body Morphs' support, or a somehow a conflict with deferent JCMs.
It looks really easy. They've been doing webinars recently (free) promoting it's use. They have some older webinars on their website. Sadly the replay links are personalised so I won't post to an open forum but let me know if you want to view.
BTW I saw Aave Nainen has the Gen 2 version of Sunny for sale on HW.
Ah. I see where the confusion is. :)
For most outfits, you never have to go this far. But every now and then you find one that just won't work. You probably already know this, but...
Tressie may use V6 UVs but her body and head are custom sculpted in Zbrush (or so says the product page for her). If it requires the G2F body morphs (Tressie says she does, but I don't own her so I can't check to see if her body shape uses any of them), then you have to find which ones it uses and cross check them with the outfit's supported morphs. If it uses V6's body shape, you can check to see what value it's dialed in at, too, but since that's a supported morph, it's likely not the issue with that breastplate. If Tressie's body does contain custom sculpted morphs, it's a safe bet those morphs are not going to be present in any outfits not specifically designed for her. If the morphs that character uses aren't listed as supported, the outfits you dress her in may or may not work as intended (as in that Elven breastplate). Most unsupported morphs will work okay in most outfits as long as they don't push the mesh too far, but every now and then you get an outfit that just wasn't designed with that kind of flexibility.
So when you find these kinds of problems, the only way to solve them (outside of a modeling program or maybe Poser with the morph brush) is to cross check all the morphs used in the character against the ones that are supported in the outfit and dial the unsupported ones "off" one at a time until you find the offending morph or morph combination. If it's the custom sculpted shape causing the problem, really the only thing you can do is dial the head morph in separately (if that's an option) and morph the body into the closest approximation to whatever you need based on the outfit's supported morphs.
It's a PITA, but it is what it is.
Thanks Z and Saba Taru. (And no, I didn't know all that. I'm not very technical, even after a few years of doing this. Appreciate you taking the time to explain it.)
Anikad- I'll probably end up getting the Remask, I spread out my Topaz purchases and wait until they are on sale (when they are new, they usually are. Unlike Daz, the new releases are spread out, lol)
Saba Taru, agreed, and my apologies for not listing the morphs used (I forgot). It doesn't matter, as "Genesis 2 Female Body Morphs" is not listed as supported by that outfit. Thus implying that it will only work with the 'Daz Originals' listed and almost no one else. Tho Generation6 is nothing close to as bad as non-daz G3F figures, lol.
Most G2F figures are NOT HD morphs, and the normal (lack of) subdivision level of Auto-follow (or Auto generated morphs if you prefer) works fine for them. As for the rest, it comes down to there being 'Push modifiers' in the Figure product, or JCM presets for the figure in the Clothing.
The values of each dial is of no importance here (And is intellectual property), only that the dial is in use at all is of importance for compatability.
Oh wow. Thanks for showing all those very nice scott renders. I can't tell which I like best, but I'm favoring Scott the Original. I also like those Iray shaders. The jacket texture is very nice! =-)
I think with all the sci-fi uniforms and outfits you have, the Synthetics for Iray would be a lot of fun for you.
(BTW, if you folks haven't visited Serene Nights thread, pop in. She does reallly great scenes. Love her little bots!)
This render is about 85% done, but I've got to get busy on something else so I'll go ahead and show you my test shot. This is the Synthetics for Iray shaders again, this time on Fire Lilly for Genesis 2 Female(s). (See promos for original colors.) The gal is Nyota Victoria 6. The difference in color in her face is the light I added, not her complexion. As I'm focusing on the outfit, I'm letting that go as it's slight.
Hair is a bit of a puzzle. It says in Content Library, Messy Bun. By 3D Universe. The only bun I can find (using Daz's WONDERFUL search in store) is Bun Hair and it looks like it. But that's V4/A4. This was in my Genesis 2 Female section for hair though. I looked through 3D Universe store and didn't see the hair product itself, looked like a character was wearing it though.
If you look at the options, one is Normal Effects. I used that on the yoke area (front of chest) You'll see instead of a rounded scales (don't know how else to describe it) it went to diamonds, keeping the color of the yoke. There's some neat options in Normal Effects.
So, I took today to experiment with Topaz ReMask- and WOW. Playtime has never been so much fun or rewarding. This product makes masking fun, and you will love putting your masked items into your Daz scenes. I picked a hard one to start with, deliberately, as I am a 2d artist and am fortunate to be able to draw. So, I wanted to work with dainty hair strands, the epitome of a masking challenge.
One thing about ReMask, you can use the blue color for the program to compute what to keep and what to remove. I did NOT use that. I did it with green (keep) and red (go) (I know the opposite of a stop light.) I did screen shots for you. First, I took an old render of Cara in Road to Drengallen , which was from one of my previous threads. Here's the end results. (I'll show the steps in the next posts.) The lines around the figure are pretty crisp- some of that is my lack of practice and so they're a bit rough. For my first try though, I am happy. Awesome!
Oh, and to show you how well you can do fur, I thought my dog should spend some time with Bacon.
It's simple, load your image, and the screen goes green. I used my red brush and cut into the hair and outlined the figure. To do hair, make some green chunks over the hair strands that stick out. Then use red and make strands into the green, removing areas. See closeups below.
Here's some closeups of the top and bottom. Also, a view of the interface. Notice at the top, you can see what is kept, the mask (shown), etc.
Now what is so neat, you can switch views (after you have your red and green) and actually see the results (BEFORE you save.) My note below shows that view- I needed to get rid of the outer dark line, right below the breast. I used my red brush and removed it, from that view. So cool!
The last couple of notes for you- you can soften the mask line and get a really neat feathery outline. You can choose a background, a solid color, or transparent background. You can then soften that background. So much fun!
Wow, that looks neat! I like seeing what you can do with the mask, and those shaders certainly are tempting. =-)
