David: Yes, it was very time consuming and the render times were verrrrrrry slow. That's probably why I only made the one video – weel, that and the fact that I really don't have a video series in mind. I prefer to work in print, as you know.
Poser 11 does have the best geometric edge capabilities right now. Carrarra is possibly second (and, of course, I'm talking about the entry-level consumer tools we are using – I'm pretty sure Maya and Lightwave have amazing capabilities, but they're out of my budget ad sphere of influence). Thanks for the detailed workflow. I hope it will help people remember that approaching images (both static and moving) as layers is really the key to speed and good results.
The encounter...
If you all are interested, there are some free toon/anime skins and eyes at SHARECG.com for G3M and G3F. The author says they work for G8F too. I downloaded them last night but I haven't tested them yet.
I love this image! Nice illustrative effects. It does not look like a render which is really good.
Superb render! :)
I love this! Very nicely done!
Man, you guys have been busy. There were over 200 posts to get through since the last I was able to catch up with the thread. It's nice to see the NPR thread getting so popular.
I just got some cool news. My Ms. Marvel image was selected as a "Staff Pick" for "Image of the Week" over at Renderosity.
Quite an honor, especially when considering the quality of the company I'm in.
I'm actually amazed, as I didn't put in nearly the work on this that it desrved (I need more blue in the mask, hair and the line on the boot closest to the camera really needs to be thicker). Oh well! A pat on the back is a nice thing, especially since it happened on my birthday (...hmmm, wonder if there's a connection?).
Congrats man. I've never uploaded anything at Renderosity because I found their process a pain. LOL!
Congratulations, mmitchell_houston, and do not forget, that you will get render reward points for each uploaded image to the gallery at Renderosity.
Thanks. I always do forget about those new "Render Rewards." I've been uploading art there since 2003, so i never really think about that stuff. Whenever I have somethig I want to share, up it goes! Kinda the same here, although I tend to limit my gallery to pieces actually created in Daz Studio. Over at R'osity, I post anything and everything, including photos.
Congrats Mike.
That's great news, congrats! I can see why the piece was selected.
Thanks, and I guess I'm used to it. I actually find it a little easier to upload there than I do here at Daz...
And thank you very much!
Did a lot of manual line work in Photoshop.
Jade and Zane (iClone 7 characters) inside Dark Star: https://www.daz3d.com/the-dark-star
Very nice overall effect, love the background city.

Very nice render, the render style itself has a very animated feel to it; is that the default render style, or a preset, or did you have to change a lot of settings to achieve it?
-- Walt Sterdan
Thanks a lot, Walt. This was made in iClone 7 Pro, with its toon settings, and then in Photoshop
I have applied Topaz Clean filter and then Filter Forge Vibrance.
Below is a screenshot from iClone 7 Pro of the scene.
Another test from iClone 7 - Opus Magnum room only: https://www.daz3d.com/opus-magnum
I like the results you're getting with this effect. I'm not familiar with the iClone product, so thank you for sharing the screenshot above with us.
Another team up. I was just experimenting with some stuff I downloaded and it turned into a full blown render. I think I'm going to buy Topaz Simplicity this weekend. I miss it.
Cool.
Looks like you're having fun, awesome!
I hear ya on Topac Simplify, I'm currently using a PhotoShop action that includes Topaz Clean, Simplify, and some other PhotoShop actions that I wouldn't give up for anything.

Thanks for the info and the screenshot, much appreciated! I use Clean as well, but I really like your toon output from iClone 7 Pro.

Thanks a lot. I am a long time user of iClone (from 2008, when I have bought iClone 3 from Daz3D store),
but were not impressed with its rendering possibilities, unil now. Toon renderer in iClone was there quite a long time,
but I have forgotten about it, while using Daz Studio frequently nowadays.
On the other hand, there are opinions, that the new Blender (2.80 series) with Eevee PBR renderer will become
strong competition to iClone.
Thanks a lot, tkdrobert.
Thanks. Yes, I like this toon output from iClone, even more with this new version of iClone 7.
Fantastic man!
Teaser poster for my Comic/Graphic novel
Morpheus 7 and emoti guys.
That looks cool and creepy, which I expect you were going for.
A good day for art. I found a free comic book script for Photoshop that I can't wait to experement with and I got two new art books. Unfortunanty, I'm being draged to the beach tomorrow, so no renders until later. Happy rendering everyone.
