Thanks Ted, I scarfed up some Naomi hair you listed... I did grab Everyman Hair simply to play with it and possibly use on the generation 4 m/characters it fits easily.
i dont remember a cave
I chop off V4 or M4's heads for those, is easy as is a separate mesh then hide the parented head or conform it
there is a cave entrance
that set is all about angles though as lots of backdrops of disembodied terrains
Cave entrance
Awesome, thanks guys. I picked it up. Like most of his stuff, I can tell there's a *lot* going on and included, and I think it could be a useful scene in a lot of different ways.

Tin Pan Alley on sale
comes with a .car installer?!

yes
Fascinating. Are there other Stonemason products with files optimized for Carrara?
well US was IIRC but its long gone
Yes... cave!
I've been revelling about this amazing set since I bought it... way back when. All kinds of places to explore!
Besides the cave, there are islands to explore, the monastary/church is truly amazing! The landscaping is awesome!
It's a true wonder, with this particular kit, to take one's time to go into the instances tray and explore everything - Everything.
Here are some small examples:
Fire on the torches - all one fire, yet amazing how well they all work together
Bridge - whoa... I'm so used to seeing all of this stuff come as a large mesh. This is a masterful use of instances - this sort of efficiency throughout the whole set
Fully realized Carrara atmosphere that is stunning
Path to the bridge - very nicely done - I place Target Helper Objects along the path to help send character figures to it
Customization friendly - I needed a much lighter-weight scene (I had a very under-powered PC) and it was so easy (due to excellent organization of the scene) to get rid of elements I didn't need, etc., which also helped me to see the ingenius work that went into this - it taught me a lot about efficient scene creation
Installed Folders - I had a lot of fun just exploring his wonderful texture map work (he's truly an amazing artist!) and reading his tutorial notes
I have a small write-up on it and other mmoir products here
I know that the first Geebles City Blocks (Stonemason) does. Really cool how it lights up all the tiny windows for us, instead of having to do that manually ;)
I rendered a bunch of pics from that set to use as "paintings on the wall" in something else, and it truly is remarkable. Both in terms of how it's constructed (just look at the balustrades - those balusters are all replicated!) and the interesting views and angles you can stumble upon.
It might be an "old" set, but it still knocks the socks off a lot of new stuff.
A quick render of the cave entrance, with the torch lights a little brighter than the preset.
Yup, that's the tunnel behind the church. But there's a cave behind the waterfall, and others to explore as well ;)
Great tip. I got it so long ago I might have still been using Poser. I just downloaded the Carrara version.
This image shows that there's a cave to the right (in the cliff) of the church, but there's also one hidden behind the waterfall (upper left-center of image)
The far left shows the path I was mentioning earlier too.
yeah - I'd like to live there... But I think I'd need someone talented to help with the meticulous stonework. Any takers?
heh,

ETA: tim-payne is back in mega-fastgrab (skies and HDRs). If you get a mega-fastgrab collection up into the mid-$35 range, buying a $12-ish new or debut item is practically free.
Great to know. Thanks! With two Carrara products in the Daz store, he now qualifies for the Carrara PA list I started a while back.
Still very unhappy that you are no longer on the list. I know that you touched on this earlier, but is there much of a possibility that you can get back in?
Are you talking about the Greebles, or Tin Pan Alley?
There is.
Great review Dart, very illuminating. I was smart enough to buy it but I haven't installed and taken a looksee around yet. There are actually *two* caves? To be honest I didn't even hardly notice the waterfall at first glance, looks like there's a whole different path over there too. Wow, this set will be immensely useful.
Mmoir, if you're out there, you should have done more (and larger) product renders, and much more description! Sounds like you short-changed your own product I should have gotten this one a long time ago, but better late than never.
Not Carrara specific but...
New PC+ item, Sci-fi Control Panels, and also new DAZ Freebies are available today... two I didn't have are chars... one for Giselle 6 the other for V4 with Morphs++. Ohh... but there are even more that I already had.
thanks :)
As I have new products available on the store today (sorry, not Carrara) then my whole store is available at 40% off, or 50% if you buy at least two items, and an extra 20% off if you buy a new or nearly new item. Enjoy!
Congrats Phil. They look really good - hopefully they'll do well (I picked up the bundle with some other stuff for extra discount! )
My own next set is still in the modelling stage (had to take time off for bad behaviour . . . .) so it'll be a while yet.
no carrara layer function shader preset?
Yes you could built a suitable layered shader in Carrara. What you can't do (that you can do in Daz Stidio) is to save a partial shader so that you can apply the make-ups over whatever skin your character has. So with Carrara you would need a separate shader set for each skin that you have. The numbers quickly mount up!
