I have an off topic question... I have a seamless tile running around a "horizon" globe I created using a sphere... it's showing a seam though when rendering. I used spherical UV mapping so that shouldn't be happening! Any suggestions?
if it's a hardware rendering, and the sphere is low-poly, there's sometimes errors in texture placement
software renders usually render ok
the daz studio primitives usually behaves well ( see image below )
there too it's better to have high poly spheres, like 32x16 sides/segments
make sure that in the surfaces tab, the "Tiles" settings specify exact numbers of tiles ex: 4 Horizontal Tiles, not 4.28
Thank you. I saw those but wasn't sure which one to download! lol I need one big enough to create an environment with, not planet sized but sort of Moon sized. I have got the land and water disks with morphs created.
Note - for lighting purposes the UberEnvironment sphere is good
but for background images it severely distorts the spherical images
most of all at the sky zenith
i found that my free 128x128 spheres work better
note that sometimes i send Daz Studio scenes over to Blender cycles, using mcjTeleBlender
and i include a sphere object like that with a spherical map applied to it
and the ambient color/strength at 100% white.
----
Fig 1 - a DS3 render, contrary to previous renders, it's my free 128x128 sphere instead of the Uber Environment sphere
and there's less distorsion, maybe my UV layeout is better i dont know, i think it's mostly because it's more finely faceted
---
I'm feverishly working to release the script and special utility mcjSqueeze !
I have the bottom most. It was actually way to big as I like the Environ be just slightly larger than the default ground plane in DS (or what ever that's called) lol

oops i had forgotten ( is that English?) to upload it !
Thank you. Ooops, is English... hell it's universal! lol Ooops! ;-)~ Not sure if I have Elevate. No, I don't, just looked. Wasn't sure what that was for. So it can resize something big and have the Y Axis kept to the center? Whenever I resize anything it moves down or up and I have to try to equalize it's center again. Kind of annoying!

dont know if it's what you mean but the spheres on my site are centered at 0,0,0 whereas the usual primitive spheres are centered at the bottom of the page
a rather important tool i often use to change the center of objects ( essential to install door hinges ! .... well you could also use parenting and null nodes ) is ..... DeltaX15's MoveOrigin script
but i think DS4 also has in its menus something to do it
---
Fig1 an IRay render using the free (jpg) 4Kpixels Poser office panorama
i think i plucked Amy from a demonstration scene for the midi/keyboard project ... that would explain the pose
Just imported it into DS and it's doing the same thing Casual. When I scale it smaller it moves downwards on the Y axis. ;-/
there may be other menus for this
but if you go in the sphere's parameters tab
and go into edit mode ( right click on the parameters tab to get the pop-up menu )
then you see a "Rigging" section
and using the Y Origin slider, you can change the sphere center to 0,0,0
Just home from work. IT WORKS. Great little tip there Casual. Thanks so much! {^-^}
one just has to remember to turn the edit mode off after modifying the Origin-Y
but if you search in the forum for "origin" i think there's a more direct way to do it
...then again maybe not for objects, just for figures
One thing, once I saved it out as it's new size and then back in again I noticed that once back in Edit mode and the Rigging area the dials shows two Y dials at -3000.00 so I guess that's how it reasserts the need to have the center at the bottom of the sphere.
Daz Studio 4.8 IRay photorealist mode - the free poser office skyball but converted to HDR blurred , plus a 1 meter diameter high intensity point light
Fig 2 Amy and Julia (the keyblade) at the beach, but Julia's blades don't look sharp enough and she's usually cuter than that
that's an sIBL-archive 3K HDR environment
Looks like another great script -I really need to have any chance of rendering full(looking scenes)
I get an error In daz

looks like its the quote at the end - picout = "out_" + picin"
Deleted that and the script runs
Thanks i'll make sure that problem isnt in the next release
which by the way will be majorly different because it will include mcjSqueeze.exe
if all goes well i'm posting it in the next hour or two !
------
turns out that in Daz Studio 3, that script with the error doesnt cause a "crash"
guess i must leave the comfort of DS3 to complete the script *sigh*
well unfortunately the release of version 2
( which produced such wonderful results with poser and ds3 )
will have to wait another day
but but, i'll fix the little bug in the current version
which did work but .... who knows maybe with DS4.8 maybe it doesnt !
but at least it wont crash on you
( by crash i mean just the script not daz studio )
Fig 1 - the issue at hand - a broken panorama in DS4.8
on the plus side, (oh my blob) .. i got imagemagick working, the problem i had was that it wouldnt work with png files. rendering to jpeg in daz solves that.
if i can get it to work in DS4.8 as it works in DS3, the ~~~final ~~~ non-distorting version will be ready soon
soon being a relative term as Einstein or his dog would say and in the case of the release of my scripts you could say it's meta-relative
( the sort'of good news is, i get the same problem in DS3 )
Fig 1 - good news, except for the failed tiles at the top, the system works, in DS3 when using 16x8 tiles instead of 12x6 -
good news good news - i'll give it another go tonight !
Fig 2 TaDa!!! when imagemagick was seeing a black and white image, and i asked for a bmp version of that image,
imagemagick made a grayscale bmp, because it's a smaller file ... but my mcjSqueeze.exe utility is a bit stupid
and can only process 24 bit BMPs - so i used a special code to tell imagemagick to make em all 24 bit
so this increases chances of a release tonight !

I need to pay more attention.. you clearly stated 32 X 16. My bad. SPANK ME! lol Thanks again for all your fabulous freebies and advice.
using the free 4K panorama in Blender/cycles
using the free 4K panorama in Daz Studio 4 - Uber Environment 2 - and a shadow-catcher plane

Which one is the 128 X 128 sphere? You have the four labeled differently on the download page...
mcjSphere12x6.obj (5k)
mcjSphere16x8.obj (10k)
mcjSphere24x12.obj (24k)
mcjSphere32x16.obj (43k)

using mcjElevate one could change that sphere into a small asteroid
