I have just used FilaToon - General preset and applied it to ground and foliage materials of UltraScenery 2.

FilaToon renders only viewport, so one need to enable view in Ecology Layers on items that should be visible.

The problem I have encountered is if one want to disable view again there are some artefacts left.

Just another FilaToon renders. Still need more work.

At least rendering is very fast.

I do like that. It's amazing how good these old Vanishing Point buildings look in UltraScenery.

I have not been using daz much lately, so I am kinda out of the loop with what's new. So, where is this filatoon shader found in daz?

Yes, but... how do you access the foliage materials? With UltraScenery 2 there are no objects to select and alter.

You need to show hidden nodes in the Scene hamburger menu.

I have just used surface selection and then tried to click on the objects I want to change.

Have to look at the hidden nodes, so it will be even more easier to change the materials.

Please take a look at the threads dedicated to FilaToon:

    https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/704951/anime-toons-and-filatoon-shader-q-a#latest

    https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/704931/filatoon-cell-shaded-rendering-with-filament#latest

There is quite a different approach to rendering, but I like non realistic rendering (NPR) very much

and the speed of rendering in FilaToon (almost instant) is great on my computer.

I like also iray rendering, but excessive render times and unable to put more than 2 Genesis 9 or 8

in the scene (so only CPU rendering) is a very limiting factor for me.

Great. Maybe it is not suitable for all purposes, but rendering speed is unbeatable. Worth to try.

    All the best.

Another experiment with UltraScenery 2 rendered with FilaToon in the seconds.

There are 5 different Genesis 9 based characters and Labrador in the scene.

Only showing with the trees enabled to show the shadows on the ground.

Could not imagine how long this scene would render in iray and if my computer would handle it.

Also posting with two steps of postwork in the Gimp.

Sorry, but I could not find this Scene hamburger menu.

Any tips how it looks like? Thanks in advance.

The value filatoon brings to me, as an artist, is that I can use the line art as a template and export to a paint program for further refinement. Also, I can easily convert filatoon to vector art.

That is great. Even more encouragement for me to further experiment with filatoon.

@Artini -- great renders using filament. Give Ultrascenery a much broader approach.

I have to sway back to using USC2 however. I tried to use a custom height map, but it crashed my system. Not sure why, didn't check the log, but it troubles me all the problems I seem to be having with USC2 ... but I'm not giving it all up quite yet. In the meantime, I did get a render done, its not ike a great work of art, but its a render. Just that makes me feel good, for awhile at least. Here it is ...

An attempt to render a water (sort of) with FilaToon:

also another type of postwork in the Gimp:

If you want more grass, turn up the Rreview Density percentage. By default only the forest is previewed at 100%. Filament uses the previews.

Thanks for that tip. I have just wondered why the grass is so sparse in filatoon.

I tried doing this yesterday but didn't do a great job, but I am not sure if I was successful with the water using the 'metallic' shader or not. Try that and see if you get anywhere.

I think I failed on the scene I tried though, and I did find the hamburger and everything, following your and barbult's directions. But I was on my old Win 10 laptop with a 1080 card.

@Artini, I am amazed at the lovely images you are coming up with mixing Filatoon and USC2. Reminds me of woodcut prints or something like that.

    Thank you very much, @Mary

I will try to use 'metallic' shader on the water.

There is so much more to explore with rendering UltraScenery 2 in FilaToon.

I am very interested to see what happens if I change Preview Density on the grass

    as suggested by barbult.

Yes, the minute I read that, my mind's lightbulb went off! Of course that was why it looked bad there on my attempts. I was able to get an outline on the hills, but nowhere else. But that will have to wait, this morning is iOS updates on my iPad/iPhone and an EKG first thing. Still trying to track down an erratic heart blip.

Thanks @Artini. I am back. Got to watch the screen and listen to my heart. Will get my results next week from my heart doctor or online, but nothing popped up that caused an emergency surgery. Even with extra testing that has me a bit 'shaky' right now.

Another traditional USC2 (or two). Used a modified height map and Mask Builder II to clear the area for the building, which is VanishingPoint's Fortified Manor, added a Low Res horse, donkey and dog and a bunch of LowPi people in converted medival outfits.

I have changed Preview Density of Field to 50%, but computer is very slow in interface to Daz Studio.

Also changing placement of Genesis 9 characters does not work as expected.

It looks like changing the density of the grass should be done after the scene is completed.
