Sorry, been a while again. Here's the only pic I've managed to 'finish' in the past couple of weeks. Girl and Guy 7 and had to get some Nursoda in there....also Indigo Jansen's Chunky Knit Sweater outfit and Esther.

    --------------------

Guy: Hi! I found these puppies in the woods and you can have them.

Girl: Puppies! Yay! Thanks! er...are those really puppies?!?

    Puppy: Arf Arf

Aw thanks, Kettu. The pose is actually from a set for her. I'm a browser, not a keyword searcher, and often a pose I find will inspire me to give it context and build a scene around it. This time the pose came last and when I saw the thumb I knew it was it. Barely had to touch it it was just perfect.

Here's one done in iRay. Magix101 iRay Worlds Skydome and Super Pak. Added some 1971s stuff, Nursoda's Malik, and a couple of MilDogs....Lazy Day. I did post this in Magix thread in the forums (same url). I'm resizing it here and don't know if I resize it myself if you can see it fullsize by clicking. Anyhay...Lazy Day..

Very nice, Spit.  Makes me want to sit and put my feet in the water!  Really lovely colors and atmosphere.

Just a simple quickie. 3Delight this time. I've noticed that iray renders pop, 3DL ones usually need postwork to do so.

It's most likely because the 3Delight shaders (both lights and surfaces) that come with DS are very very old. And also because by default, in DS 3Delight renders are set to be tonemapped the wrong way (no "gamma correction" and output gamma set to 1 not 2.2).

But I make sure gamma correction is on and set output to 2.2. (I've noticed if I use iray and then next session switch back to 3delight, it reverts back to defaults so one has to be careful about that).

Then probably it's the shaders' fault. You could try using "indirect light" mode with UberEnvironment to bring in the sort of light transport that always happens with Iray, but then the render can get much slower, especially if transmapped surfaces aren't specifically excluded (via the UberSurface "occlusion" controls).

Good tip. Thanks Kettu. I'll give that a shot. I've also tried playing with 'contrast' in the uber environment light but usually forget.

    You're welcome!

That "contrast" control will only affect the lighting coming from the HDR map, so that its light areas become brighter and dark areas become darker; so if you are using a map in UberEnvironment, it can change something, but if you're not, nothing will happen.

That's a nice image, Spit!  I can never get anything that good in 3Delight yet.  3Delight is a constant challenge for me.  You have some nice skills!

Thanks but I"ve been using 3Delight forever so I have no excuse for the many many renders that sit in my WIP folder forever. laugh

Trini was a Lyoness figure so she has an LY in front of her name.  She also came with a bundle with an outfit by SloshWorks which I did not get at the time.  Of course, I've since decided that I like the outfit so I'm planning to get that some time in the future.  I'm not sure what dress that is that you used on her, though.  It is very cute on her.

I just realized I missed your question. sad It's the Bow Dress by Cute3D.

That's okay.  I'd forgotten I'd asked one!  Hmm, and I have that dress, too.  I don't think I've ever used it yet!

Your lazy day image is beautiful. Unfortunately it won't enlarge for me - but the bit I can see looks amazing.  I like the toon effect if you have on the other renders, it's perfect for the image.

laugh laugh I won't even begin to tell you how much stuff I have that I haven't used yet. It's too embarrasing.

Here's one I did a year or so back but wasn't happy at all so found the saved scene and played some more. A little postwork (just a Filter Forge thing--one of the Lomo ones I have.) 3Delight. Well, as of now on this old machine anyway, you can assume everything is 3Delight unless stated otherwise...Click on the thumbnail for a bit larger.

That's really nice, Spit! I love the girl's expression and the horse.  I have Lady Littlefox's Unicorn.  Is that the unicorn just without the horn?  Or does she have a horse, too?

  • SpitSpit Posts: 2,342

Thanks. Yes, it's the unicorn. Horn hidden and one of Daio's textures. The girl is smay's mavka for genesis.

My god Spit that is one amazing render!!! Love the (Unicorn) horse!!!

Cool.  I'm going to have to do a render with the unicorn now that it is in my product library here.   I have Mavka, also, but i think I've only done one render with her since I got her and, as I was still struggling with 3Delight at the time, she didn't look all that great.  She looks good in your render, though!  I might have to dig her out again now that I'm a little better in 3Delight and I may, also, see how she does in Iray.

Yes, give her a try. She's a little thing and so adorable. I used her prolificallly in her pre-genesis form and was delighted when he made her for Genesis. She can't wear her original clothes --has a slightly different shape and default stance-- but can wear everything available to Genesis which actually increased her wardrobe exponentially.
