My most recent free item's SKU is 83693:
https://www.daz3d.com/dforce-winter-splendor-outfit-texture-add-on
But overall, I agree with you: $2.99 items are usually newer (I don't remember having Genesis 9 items as free choices while I had a couple of them as paid one).
Currently, the oldest item in the Still New category was released three days ago, which feels like the usual delay.
Usually 2 or 3 days depending on the sale. I think for this one it's been 3.
But then they usually do a catchup where everything becomes Still New again.
And if you are only worried about the 30% introductory discount that lasts 2 weeks.
I'm really struggling to find something to keep my punch going today. Does anyone know if gift cards count?
In my understanding, gift cards does NOT work for a punch.
No, GCs don't count for punches. They do, however, keep you eligible for the Advent Calendar gifts.
Oh thanks, this might actually be the reason! I hadn't thought of that at all. Will check their stuff in the actual content directory instead of Smart. But really, it wouldn't have been so hard to put words onto the plain color swatches, or just give them meaningful names, would it? Especially at that price point. But I'll be happy for sure to at least be able to use what I bought
Don't know if it helps, and maybe you already have it, but I'm going for https://www.daz3d.com/fantastic-chests ... it's $1.43 with all three punches, and I figure little boxes can come in handy...
Ah, perfect! I needed a chest recently and couldn't find a suitable one in my library. Those small ornamental ones are very cute too. You're right, they're super handy. Even the biggest, creepiest sportswear promo dolls have a scale slider. Nightmares, get in the dainty box!
Also, thanks to those who answered my gift card question.
Yay! Enjoy!
The way we approached this, was with the idea of offering options. This allows us to be more creative with what we feel makes us unique in the Daz market: our high quality and varied texture options.
Offering different but similar outfits (with the same UVs) let us capitalize on the fact that different people may be interested in different styles and/or options and we can offer a lot of texture add-ons.
You're not supposed to buy everything, just what you like and will be using. If we had only released Hz (the closed top and regular pants) you would not have this feeling, but because Hz and MF are similar in shape but very different in options we felt it was more honest to release them together rathern than a few weeks or months apart when a lot of people could think they liked the new one better or would have preferred the open top etc.
This is similar of what we did with Verse in the past, 4 similar outfits that share their UV map and therefore all their textures, effectively creating a mini-wardrobe and offering us the possibility of creating a hug range of add-on styles which would be unjustified to create for an outfit alone: https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/586416/
Also, note you do not need any add-on, all Urban Noise textuers work on all the pieces, so if you bought the two outfits, all pieces could use any of the styles included.
Actually both sets of pants, which are a different style, have the options of no strings, lose strings and bow-tied strings as well as hd morphs for the inner band string effect :). It's 3 styles x both pants!
Correct :)!!! The strings are separate items that can be used at leisure if one likes the style.
Exactly, FM, overall is a more easy-going, relaxed version. One can make a mini-wardrobe out of the two outfits, or simply buy the one they like. We like to offer options.
Please, do use the library. I promise everything is very neatly organized!
While smart content can come in handy, it's not great for browsing our products.
If you check in the City Vibes page, you can see a snapshot of the library and how everything is divided up into folders: https://www.daz3d.com/city-vibes-outfit-for-genesis-9-8-and-81 (first pic or the 5th row). We're very picky about making our products accessible and streamlined to use :)!
This is so great to read!
We usually play a few weeks with the products before uploading and rearrange folders and options as best as we can for a streamlined experience. And even if one doesn't like our folders structure, it should be very easy so rearrange as one prefers!
Sorry for hijacking the thread, carry on :D
I'll just jump in here really quick to say that if you take a close look at Aeon Soul products there is a lot of thought and planning that goes into them to make them very versatile. The cross compatibility between products is very impressive thanks to their use of similar texture/color/style options. The additional morphs are also typically very useful and well thought out.
I also REALLY appreciate that they create versions for G9, G8.1, and G8. I'm sure this creates additional work (time) for each product, but for me it's a huge plus since I still use G8 as well as G9. This is an added value for me, and definitely worth a bit more in price.
Yes, the dForce Urban Noise products are rather expensive. But again, if you take an in depth look at the products, you soon realize the amount of work that must have gone into creating them. It's not a style outfit I think I would use a lot, but IMHO the quality of their products make it quite interesting .... maybe a bit of kit bashing will work???
From a long time user of their products (back in the V4 years), I truly appreciate the quality and craftsmanship of their products. I can't afford them all (I wish I could), but those that I do have, I find them a joy to use. You never have to worry about the realism of the models or the shaders/materials. Their products inspire me, and I'm always glad I got them. There are products from other vendors I've purchased that didn't live up to what they looked like in the promos, and as a result I haven't used them in any final image. For me, it's more expensive to buy several inexpensive products trying to find one I want to use in a render, rather than to buy a few more expensive products that I know I will use because they always look great in realistic 3D renders.
Now I'm off to look at their latest offerings again, to see if I can imagine a great use for them.
...well he first "calendar strikeout" tonight, two texture sets for clothing items I don't have (and not interested in). So that blows the theories of at least one item being from my wishlist and turning my advert blocker off.
I had a couple days where the free item wasn't on my wishlist. I added a several more G8 age items to my wishlist, and the both items started coming from my wishlist again. I still had quite a few items that should have been eligible, maybe you need a magic minimum number to consistently get them selected from your wishlist .... or maybe I just got lucky.
I read the comments about the new Aeon Soul outfits yesterday but didn't say anything but I have the time this morning to outline why I not only bought both outfits and their material sets, but also the Street Verve Outfit and two of its material sets I had to put on my wishlist when they came out.
1. Yes, the price was a shock, but I had six tokens and I used them. They ended levels below other outfits and texture sets at 30% off.
2. The promo shots were excellent. They covered issues that might be ran into by using simulation and how to deal with each one in detail. These techniques could be transferred to other products as well. Then there was the usage of these items with the full range of Aeon Soul's products available for sale today. Other than esha, they are the only other PA that I know of who does this consistently.
3. And these promos sparked my creative sides. When a product sparks that, I buy it and heck with the cost. Also, when a PA takes the time and effort to create promos of that quality, in that number, with that amount of detail, it deserves the same respect that the product should get.
4. That morning I downloaded not only those items, but my full range of Aeon Soul's products from DIM onto my new computer, some 40gbs of files with one or two others mixed in. That was my day's permitted allotment of downloads.
5. When I can't afford something due to my finances, I will wishlist it, and will wait to buy when I am able to. The other day I was. I will buy from PAs with quality I know.
Everyone must make their own decisions to buy or not, enjoy the products or not.
Mary
There still might be the rule of "price does matter", too, if Your wishlisted are above the (unknown) present price thresholt.
It might be the reason for me getting offered one item from my wishlist, together with one non-wishlisted item today, too.
My free present today is Aniyah (wishlisted, base price $ 19.95, SKU 65283), while the "to be bought present" is Elf Style DForce Outfit for Horse 3 (useless, as I don't own/intend to buy Horse 3; base price $ 24.99, SKU 89420).
From my wishlisted DO products 15 are SHU <70,000, most of those at Base Price $ 19.95 or 20.95 (which seems around the maximum for my (!) free presents), except for four "test products" with Base Prices from $ 22.95 to $ 27.95. While only three with a SKU > 80,000 are left, with Base Prices between $ 21.95 and $ 26.95, one of them even DAZ+
My advent calendar selection is now also reduced to free items that are not on my extensive WL (today it was actually a texture set for clothes I don't own). WL offers are now only available for $2.99. That's still a very attractive price, of course, but just a week ago both items were from my WL and sometimes it was really hard to decide. Now at least the decision is easier... ;-)
I;m having a problem with today's advent calendar, in taht the 2.99 product is not able to be added to the cart, either from the product page or the sale page itself.
I can add other things to the cart, but I would like to be able to add this one.
The product that is failing is this one
https://www.daz3d.com/gn-lora-hair-for-genesis-9
But whatever the case, it adds to cart just fine for me (although I already have it from the promo).
I own it, but it does add to cart for me. Try clearing your cache in case you're working with a bad cached page
I own it and I am not able to add it to my cart.
I don't and it won't add to mine either
Same here.
I can't add it via a private window either - reported.
Thanks!
Good point! I think by Christmas Eve or even this weekend (or the next) there'll be some big sale, catch-up, or both (or one followed by the other), don't you?
Don't mean to derail the thread again, just popped back in and saw this, and I really appreciate you chiming in here, Aeon Soul. It's nice to see artists care so much, thank you for that. I also understood now that your items are supposed to be accessed via the content library, and will do that. But you know, just adding simple pointers like 'border', 'dress' and such directly to the mat icons would make the whole set up quite easily useable in smart content as well, so maybe you'll consider that for future releases. Smart content is rather useful for clothing I think. Anyways, your stuff certainly is dead beautiful. cheers!
Could it be because it is a DAZ+ product? Like, the present script would only work for DAZ+/Premier users?
D+ Member, do not own the item. I clicked "add to cart" and it didn't show in the cart drop-down, but when I went to the actual cart (full page) it showed up there.
Seems like weekends have been catch-ups lately. I'm hoping for a Dec 24th/25th sale that works for me, but my track record with the holiday events hasn't been good so far. I'll just give thanks for my daily Advent & PA freebies and call it good if there isn't.
