+1 for fixing it later! For the mothly coupons, it's odd they went with a worse deal for the higher level pro-rata. $10 p/m gets you $6, but $19 p/m only gets $10. And upping the threshold isn't exactly a selling point either, as you say.

...indeed, "moving the goalposts" is a bad for the customer base.

If I'd been told about this ahead of time, this is exactly how I would've expected it to have been handled. Maybe next week there will be an official clarification, but I'm thinking more like two weeks.

Nothing is being taken away from the Standard/Pro versions of DS, and we can fairly safely assume that any new features listed in the chnage log up to today, at least, will be part of the non-subscription package. I can't see why Daz would ruin the free versions, those would be needed to get people interested enough to sign up for the subscription version.

As of today, Daz has clearly shown that they will implement major changes (Daz+ membership changing from yearly/quarterly to monthly) and major price hikes (Daz+ going up from $70/year to $120/year) without any notice at all and without any clear communication (see the amount of confusion on the forums), so excuse me, but at this stage, I don't think we can "fairly safely assume" anything. I, at least, will not be assuming anything, not with the destroyed trust in the company.

My Daz+ sub was good through May 1st.  I upgraded to Premier and my sub is still good through April 29th.  So, good there.  All my new benefits are showing up.  The problem I'm having is the coupon code for the free bundle for this month is saying it's invalid.

Can anyone else confirm this?  Specifically, if our existing Daz+ subscriptions, with associated expiry dates, remain in place should someone wish to subscribe to Premier?  This is relevant for those that might want to try it out but don't want to lose their existing Daz+ memberships, thas having their existing Daz+ membership to fall back on if they decide that Premier is not for them and they decide to opt out, but still do the Daz+ thing with the Daz+ membership renewal that they previously purchased.

If this is indeed the case, the variation in the number of free months being offered might make a bit more sense, as it could be based on how much you've been buying stuff from the store lately, as opposed to how many months of your Daz+ membership that you may have left.

Just looking for clarification here, for those that might want to know how this works.

Still looking for clarification here, no one has responded.  To restate my questions succinctly:

    1) If I click the 'remain Daz+' button, will my existing expiry date for my Daz+ membership still be honored?  And will I NOT be billed $9.99/month until said expiry date?

    Yes

    2) If someone chooses to try out Daz Premier, perhaps taking advantage of the 'x months of Premier free' offer, but decide it's not for them and cancel Premier, will the previously existing Daz+ membership expiry date remain in force If someone then chooses to downgrads back to Daz+?  I.E. if your Daz+ expiry date was say in 2025-2029, would said date still be honored as both parties, i.e. the customer and Daz3D.com, have previously agreed to?

I doubt it, at least not without a suport ticket.

I have other questions, but I seek answers to these two questions specifically.

You are getting what you paid for, if you remain as a + member - nothing is being taken away from you in that respect. The issue is trading in the unused portion of what you purchased for something better.

..OK, so what is the button that says "Auto-Renew" Plan under the Daz+ selection do?  Will that put me on the 9.99$ monthly instalments?

Last night (well very early, early this morning) I thought there was a selection that said "Remain on Current Plan". Last thing any of us need right now is more confusion.

As far as I know it means that it will auto-renew (at $9.99) when that is due and not before.

I haven't seen anything about the tokens offering lower discounts, you just get more and they last longer now (2 weeks).  I didn't even realize the longer extension until I added something to my cart.  It looks like right now everyone also gets double the tokens on the new releases (unless is a super secret Premier perk I have right now).  With just one item at $10.77 you get 4 tokens.  And the 2 tokens you can see I have available will get me an extra 13% off.  If you really buy anything on a regular basis, it's worth it.  More tokens with much MUCH more flexibility is a win/win.  Then you add the free bundle each month.  THEN you add the better monthly coupons that replace the Daz + tier.

By the way, those tokens were acquired yesterday so I'm not sure if it reset the expiration date or it was longer, but 2 weeks is a huge improvement-I have felt the need to decide whether or not to spend my tokens or let them expire and it's caused me to justify spending more than I probably needed to.

If you're Premier member, you get tokens every $5 instead of old $10 (which is now Daz+ level; non-members get them every $15 now), and today is double token day (as per banner on the store's main page), so a $10 will get you 4 tokens. Nothing secret about it :)

No.  By choosing to accept the offer you are essentially trading in your Daz+ months for Premier months.  You will have Premier as active until its expiration date that is shown.  You can choose to not auto-renew Premier, and go select Daz+ when your membership expires, but you can't trade Premier months in to get back to Daz+ months.

I have other questions, but I seek answers to these two questions specifically.

I guess it means we will never get Mesh Grabber 4 as a standalone paid product ? I ask because the geometry scupltor seems based on it, at least comparing its UI to the one Mesh Grabber 4 displayed in a video a couple of months ago.

No - just the credit card. I'm in Canada, so I'm not sure if that's a restriction (i.e., outside US).

Yeah, out of my price range I'm afraid. I'm on a single income and this is just a hobby. I sure hope they don't decide to do away with the DAZ+ or it's the end for me.

That's quite a risky strategy for the PA's, will enough people sign up for Premier to make developing plugins for that limited group worthwhile ????

Question about the free bundles each month-can we get clarification that when the free bundles are announced each month, will others be added throughout the month or will they stay the same assorted selection?  I don't want to get a free one and have another one released I would have preferred instead.

Heh. I filled that survey in a while back and said I would pay for an enhanced version of Studio if we were talking about features that need to run on a server and incur a cost. I think they're called services and they generally incur a subscription. Features that run locally are not a service. That's the first mistake this new offer made if it is targetting me (emphasis important because I can already forsee potential snark coming back my way).

The second mistake is that this new subscription tier is bundled with store discounts. Software and store strategies should be separate, in my view. Studio is a loss leader and a very good one, but as soon as you start mixing payments into it, it becomes a very bad product because, to be absolutely frank, the quality isn't there. It gets the job done, but paid features have to enjoyable to use or be industry disruptors. Buying third-party plugins and reselling them as a subscriuption gives me zero confidence that we're going to see the investment into the core software that it needs. It's absolutely creaking, and not you want to charge for that? I get it - you're technically charging for third-party content, but that's not what your offer is telling us nor what your customers will perceive.

The third mistake is offering me 3 months of premium in exchange for 16 months of Daz+.

The fourth mistake is running this after a great sale. There are some brilliant prices in the store today, but they're not as good as last month. People are empty. The only real perk of premium is slightly bigger discounts once you dig into it, and while that's great and all, the prices still aren't as good as yesterday and folk will still remember the wishlist and 10% off your cart sales of 10 days ago or so.

I find these excellent and interesting points. One thing I'm curious about - I'm curious about many things - these items that will be incorporated into "Premiere", will the individual plug-ins still be available to purchase for the peons who for whatever reason didn't have the foresight to buy them before the Dazzling Decision? I "think" I have 'em all, but can't say for certain.

This "launch" is turning into "unscheduled rapid disassembly event" it seems of Daz+ sub's.

this smells like the Unitiy fiasco.

If, as Richard has stated, there is only one version of DS, does that mean that the additional functionality for premier members will be plugins that are got through daz central?

If yes, this is a definite 'no way' for me. Last time I used daz central with DIM, it made such a mess that I almost had to reinstall all my content. TBH, if daz central was the only install option, I would gladly pay a subscription to get rid of it.

If this really proves to be the case, it would be one of the meanest moves ever, considering all the hopeful anticipation that users showed in the forum when Mesh Grabber 4 was initially announced. By the artist themselves, by the way, who then chose to disappear into wordlessness, to leave us hanging for more than four months.

    From the FAQ:

Your Membership will be renewed automatically each month. After the membership duration, your membership will auto-renew at the then-current monthly retail price. Membership offerings are subject to change. If you do not wish to renew, you will need to cancel your Membership prior to the renewal date. If you cancel your membership, you will remain a Premier or Daz+ member until your expiration date.

To subscribe to premier, I must contact support? considering mine is about to expire and I had planned to renew, I don't want to wait weeks and weeks for an answer...I am not sure if it is on auto renewal.  It does show my subscription status above, so I assume if I dont click the "keep" plan it will just run out and expire? Can someone confirm because I don't want something to charge me without knowing.

Here is what going to the Payment page appears like below.... BTW I like the new Account overview page - looks nice DAZ, just please tell me how to add paypal please! - or do you not accept paypal any longer?  My buttons don't look like others, is that because mine is about to expire?  -->I am going to assume yes.. based on type of sub you had

I am not seeing this page (even though I am paid thru April 2025). All I get is that I'm a base free member and that's it. No offer, no nothing - not even my current active Daz+ sub.

I don't even see a message to contact support, and I've been on Daz buying since 2014. My Daz+ is good through sometime in 2030, through some Paypal/auto renewal debacles years ago. By all appearances I'm a newbie except for my order history and credit.

What I would like to know is how Daz figured out the personalized "special offers" for premier membership upgrade. I have Daz+ membership paid up until July 7, 2026. They are offering me 3 months free for the Premier membership if I upgrade. It shows that the value of my current Daz+ membership is $9.99 a month. That's half the cost of the new membership. So by my reckoning with 21 months left, I should be offered at least 10 months free and with added incentive a year free. I am not going to throw all that money down the drain without fair compensation if I did decide to switch.

Thanks for the reply. With the amount of money I have spent here over the years, I think DAZ has actually done me a favor by raising their rates at a time when the economy is killing people. Makes it easier to pull the plug somehow.

It is pricey, but it probably is worth it if you buy a ton of stuff. I think my PC+ membership expires this month, so I'm considering it, but I'd like to know about those Studio features before I make any decisions. If the 'sculpting and morphing tools' is just Mesh Grabber, then I don't know. I have a feeling this is aimed more at brand new users who would actually benefit from getting older bundles and a lot of legacy content, as well as Studio plugins and products that do what they'll need without having to wait for them like the rest of us did. I don't think this is a bad deal, but it might not be for 'power users' like many of us.

I don't have DAZ+ nor will I ever go for a monthly subscription model. This past month I bought (for me) a record number of DAZ store products and found a lot of things I can use at good prices. Now I can wait until the next big blow-out sale. Also, I don't use G9 yet my G8 content is growing ever larger. If DAZ were to close its doors tomorrow I would have ebough content to keep me happy for years. These subscriptions assume we are all keeping up with the latest generations so I don't think that I - as a non-G9 - user, would benefit.

By the way, I don't see much on the forum about the new Release of DAZ Studio. Odd that it has been previewed on Youtube but not here.

[EDIT] ... Ah, I must have missed the bit where DAZ Studio 4.23 [Premier] is subscription only. Guess that's the beginning of the end for my 20 year relationship with DAZ.

They are plugins, available via DIM. I'm not sure how they're going to be activated, my guess would be that you would need to log in from Daz Studio at least once a month so it can register your membership status, but there might also be an offline option.

They said they calculate by how much you actually paid for it. So if you got a good deal buying DAZ+, then you aren't going to get one now.
