She looks great! Really like the colors you chose in this one.
- Greg
Thanks. I really like how she turned out, too. She's probably one of my most interesting characters that I've ever created for a story. I really wanted to try to capture the essence of who she is with her promo shot.
I thought I would put my heroines picture up as my avatar for the month of April while Camp NaNoWriMo is ongoing. I really hope I manage to finish her story before the month is over. I will do my best. :)
She's awesome, I left you a comment over at DA.
I got my writing goals done, but am procrastinating my daz goals. I need to figure out tera dome, which means I need to read the instruction thing, full of tech stuff that causes my eyes to glaze over and makes me want to beat my head against a wall. :D
Thanks, I saw and responded. :)
Ah, I just kind of jumped in with Terradome without reading the manual. Reading that might have made it easier but I don't usually do things the easy way. If you have any questions, though, just ask. I've done a few renders in there and I have a few more planned as I picked up a couple more morphing landscapes for it.
I'm totally hitting you up on that offer if I need it....1st I have to find the will power to get off the forums and get to work. lol
She looks amazing! Can't wait to read her story!
I pretty much jumped right into terra dome as well and only read the manuals when I get stuck lol
I did that tonight. I just went in and looked for "sets" inseatd of looking at each zone individually. Then I crashed Daz putting iray shaders on an old pickup broke down on the tera dome highway. So I called it a night. lol
Thanks. Well, you'll probably end up reading it, too. I just finished the first draft of chapter one. I think it's pretty good so far.
Yeah, for things like that which take a lot of resources, I tend to do things in chunks and save as scene subsets. I'll pull them all together at the end into an environment like Terradome at the very end.
So, day two of Camp NaNoWriMo and I've written 3644 words so far and finished chapter one. I finally get to come to the forums and catch up on anything I missed today while I had my nose to the grindstone. I might write some more later this evening and if I do that will all count toward tomorrow's word count. Suggested daily word counts for Camp is 1667 if you want to end up with 50,000 words at the end of 30 days.
I do want to go into DS a little bit and set a promo shot for my hero so I might have his render ready to upload tomorrow.
Wow, your rocking it girl! I still have not done any creative stuff at all today. My youngest is hanging out and hogging my work area, so I'll probably just wait until she goes to bed. There are just to many interruptions when the whole family is home. Monday is my favorite day of the week, everyone gets out of my house for 8 hours and I can get stuff done! lol
You know what's really crazy?
I'm not working now and am busier than I when I was working...
I tried the goal list and it got way too long.
I kept getting distracted and only ended up writing 802 words of my word count goal for the day. I'll have to try and catch up today.
Yeah, my list is always long and every time I finish something on the list I seem to add two more! As for the other, yeah, you would think since I'm a stay at home mom that I would have a ton of time to write. Unfortunately, there is always something to pull you away from your writing as you're figuring out. It's tough to balance everything and still find time to write.
Lol... I nearly skipped ove a post of yours in another thread. Nice render of Millie.
lol. Yeah, I don't usually change avatars a lot like some others do so I imagine no one was expecting that. :)
Not much going one render-wise here. Still plugging away with Camp NaNoWriMo. I hit a hiccup with the writing and had to take a step back and work on my characters a bit. I'll have to try and make up the word count tomorrow. I've been working on what this hero looks like and I think I've figured it out. I'm still working on his morph though. I should have a render for him soon, well within a day or two soon, maybe.
I don't think I mentioned one of the things that had me pulling my hair over the past few weeks, but my husband was in a car accident. Some people ran a red light and slammed into his passenger door. He's fine. It was a slow speed crash just around the corner from the house so he was almost home. In fact, he walked home after his car got towed off. It was enough for airbags to deploy and the insurance company totaled the car. We had to go car shopping and ended up getting a great deal on a used Chrysler Town & Country minivan. It was a prior fleet vehicle and only had about 30,000 miles on it and less than 3 years old. The boys are over the moon because it has a video system so they can play DVDs on long trips.
The people in the other car started trying to claim injuries a couple of days after the accident even though it was their fault. So, the insurance companies had to try to figure out from the police report and witnesses exactly who was at fault so they could make an official determination. Anyway, the insurance company FINALLY came back today and said they had determined that it was definitely the other car's fault and that they will be going after the other insurance company to get our deductible back. It might take awhile as they do all of their back and forth, but at least now the other people can claim injuries all they want. They'll have to go after their own insurance to get any money. I'm breathing a sigh of relief that the worst of that ordeal is finally over. It was very frustrating having to deal with that.
I know I've been quiet but I'll be back. I'll be working on a couple of Gimp things over the weekend and should have those posted by sometime Monday. I want to try and get all of my partially done tutorials actually finished! I'm so easily distracted from one project to another more exciting one at times.
Oh no, glad your hubbys ok KM I was hit on my motorcycle years ago and i know the pain of dealing with insurance people. I was young and stupid ... even more stupid at the time, so i ended up going 50/50. Don't worry, were not going anywhere :)
Glad to know that @KindredArts! Hey, saw the promos for your new Space HDRIs. Very cool. It's sitting in my cart right now. I can't wait to play with it. Were you already working on that while I was pulling my hair out trying to come up with a decent space backdrop a couple of weeks ago? I can't believe you didn't say a single word! I mean, okay, there was that one picture with the sun I saw awhile back, but wow! I'm loving the whole set I saw in the promos! I can't wait to finally figure out the rest of my cart so I can hurry up an play with that! We have really needed something like that for awhile. I hope you have more planned.
Yes, i did see your space scene, and i felt double guilty since you were using bastion too I have maintain an element of surprise though, or that cape was a complete waste of money! Besides, i think your renders came out great! Thanks for picking up the Hdrs though, i hope they stand you in good stead :)
@KindredArts I'm sure they will! Hmm, now I'm trying to picture you in a cape! ;)
It's a bold look KM, very bold.
@KindredArts ROTFLOL!!! I'm sure it is.
I had to play around with @KindredArt's new Iray HDRI Space product. I really like the HDRIs so far. I have to work on my spaceships and composition. I should have scaled the ship down a little bit and I'm not crazy about the default emissions on the ship which is the Marcoor FGC4. I'll have to work on those. But, now, I can possibly do a more intense space battle, maybe. The HDRIs are really nice. I played with a couple of them before settling on this green space one for this image. The 'space' ended up looking way better than the ship. :) I'll definitely have to play with this some more. These HDRIs definitely deserve to be put into better scenes than this one!
You all know that my real job is an insurance agent right? lol. I don't do claims though I do customer service. I'm very glad that your husband is okay and that its all getting taken care of. That's what should happen anyway. Florida has different laws for insurance than Ohio does though. I think you guys are no fault right? Every state is different.
I picked those skies up too and can't wait to try them. Not going to have much time this weekend but will hopefully be able to squeeze some time in to play.
That happened to me. A man drove through a red light and I could not stop, nor could I do an emergency lane change as one lane was occupied and the other had oncoming traffic. I hit the back right quarter of his car and spun him around. The air bag did not deploy, and the car was actually repaired... by my insurance company, as he was not insured. This is why it's good to have decent Uninsured coverage. It took care of my car and my medical.
It took a while longer to repair me, however. That was the second accident I had been in where there was major damage to my car. Add 4 fender benders, and this is why my neck is a mess.
Great Render KM! I'm really trying to find my sci-fi feet too, its rough. I've mostly been trying the JJ abrahms school of bloom, lens flares, vignetting, DRAMA approach. I find in sci fi (especially horror), there's deep tonal contrast and a fairly limited palette. I tried some trickery out on your render. Yes ... i probably made it not-as-good as it was before, but hey, i'm far from a photoshop whizz. You get what i mean though, bloom, contrast, Jazz hands! One day i'll learn how to make pretty pictures without smearing bloom all over everything
Uninsured and underinsured is a hugely important thing to have on a policy. We won't take it off of someone's policy without a signed waiver. There are far too many uninsured drivers out there and they tend to cause a lot of accidents.
Oh man, i'm sorry to hear that I was hit when someone changed lanes on a roundabout. As i said, i was on my bike, so i couldn't really do much. My head went through her passanger side window, so at least we had a fleeting introduction. I broke a few bones but it was mostly my pride that bared the brunt. I was in my late teens (around ten years ago) so pretty much everything has cleared up now. It somewhat sullied my passion for two wheels though!
No, I did not know that! Yeah, Florida is no fault. I didn't realise it until this accident. New York where we moved from is no fault, too. WV where most of my family live and where I grew up for the most part is a fault insurance state so "No Fault" was a new idea for me when I moved to NY. I had never even heard of that before I moved there. We always carry full coverage on our cars even after the loan is over so we had plenty of coverage even though Ron's car was already paid off. It was nine years old and we had talked about getting a new car now that the boys are taller and wider in the shoulders. They keep complaining about not having enough room. However, we were going to try and hold off until next year. This wasn't exactly how we planned on getting another car. Luckily, we got a pretty nice payout. Not as good as if we had traded it in with the good condition it was in before the accident, but a pretty decent. And, we got a really great deal on the minican so I can't complain too much.
The space HDRIs are great and they render really fast even on my machine which I love. So, even I can manage to do a few bad renders with it before I finally get one right. :)
I dislike JJ Abrams... but I think the lens flare really did something for the render above. I think you're both being far to critical of yourselves. It is a pretty cool render in either case.
