Good news. I installed the new public build (4.9.9.121) and all the weirdeness went away...
Thx all for all the suggestions !
I'm on a Mac Pro (early 2008) running OS 10.11.6. Recently my graphics card got extremely noisy so I decided to swap out something that offered the NVidia chipset and settled on a GTX 680. This is not optimized for the Mac but works really well except DS does not see it so I cannot use the GPU. Is there any way to fix this?
Beside the WebGl driver, you need to install the CUDA's driver too. Without it, the card won't show up in daz.
If you did it, then no idea beside looking into daz's log
I'm not sure what either of those drivers are. I do know that Photoshop cc sees the 2016 mb of the vram built onto the card so I would assume the necessary drivers are built into OS 10. I know that Apple started to include the drivers necessary to use PC video cards used on other platforms. How would I find out if the cuda drivers are something extra? I checked and the latest version of Safari has no way to turn on WebGl so I assume that is also built in.
that something different. First you need to get and install that: http://www.nvidia.com/object/mac-driver-archive.html
It should appears under System Preference then CUDA near Nvidia Driver Manager.
Once installed, DS should recognize the card as it should.
Went to page indicated and though I got a "page not found" flag, I eventually found the necessary download. Even though I uploaded the driver to the OS I still get the following.
I find that when I go to the preferences tab under Interface/Hardware details I see Graphics card is seen while on the left side of the image you will see that only the CPU is indicated. So evidently While DS sees the card somewhere in the internal murkyness it won't let me use it.
and you got the Nvidia WebGL installed ?

if so, then i have no idea beside looking for some errors under DS/Help / Troubleshooting / logs
Which Cuda Version do you have installed? Iray 2016.2 (i think) and later requre Cuda 8
The version I installed was 7.something. I'm not using os 10.12 (Sierra?) so I'm not sure I can load cuda 8
Wher do I find WebGl?
You must have Cuda 8 for Iray in 4.9.
Cuda drivers: http://www.nvidia.com/object/mac-driver-archive.html
Lastest 10.6 driver: http://www.nvidia.com/content/DriverDownload-March2009/confirmation.php?url=/Mac/Quadro_Certified/346.03.15f08/WebDriver-346.03.15f08.pkg&lang=us&type=GeForce
Looking at the prefence panel I see that the Nvidia web drive is up to date
Cuda version installed? Must be 8 (pick the newest 8)
Bingo! Problem solved Thank you much!!
Great - now don't fry the card, lol.
Is there a way to limit the number of processrors/cores Daz uses? I'm experimenting with Iray view mode, and it's pretty snappy, but I think it'd work fine with less than of the 8 cores dedicated to it.
AFAIK, nope. here it uses everything available. I really like FilterForge where you can set number of cores to use, but I think Iray doesn't have that possibilty in it so there is no way DS can make it do that.
Not sure if I'm at the right spot here .. But I need help/advice
I installed the latest DS 4.9 version on my iMac and I can not render iRay no more ..
When I click render nothing happens but this pop up showing up ..
No problems with previous 4.8 versions .. No problems rendering 3Delight in this new version
I re-installed .. I re-booted .. nothing seems to help .. :(
It's an iRay render only issue .. Advice is much appreciated .. Please in clear words for this Dutch DS newie :)
New Cuda and nVidia Driver is needed. When nVidia updates Iray they add new functions only available in newer drivers.
Ohw .. so no iRay rendering without nvidia no more .. ok .. good to know .. thanx for the quick reply .. :)
If you have nVidia card that is... you need to update, but 4.9 works under 10.11 & 10.12 with CPU just fine.
Can be that something else broken during update, What render engine is it set to?
Has anyone upgraded to High Sierra yet? Any problems with DAZ?
Also, I am now on a new 8-core Mac Pro which means I have Dual AMDs now. So no iRay for me. How are people doing their renders if they can't have things optimized for iRay. I installed Reality, but haven't really experimented with it yet.
Thanks
Not yet...I've been meaning to look at the eGPU stuff in it, see what it all means..haven't had a chance.
From what I understand it is pretty expensive at this point to setup an eGPU and the bang may not be worth the buck.

I still have a spare machine sitting here that is a 6-core with Dual NVidia 760 GTXs installed. Thinking it might be simpler for me to just use a shared HDD that both Windows and Mac can read, have DAZ on that and do all my design stuff on my MAC, then do the rendering on my secondary box.
Updated to 4.10 and get an error message about cms.
Any ideas how to fix thanks?
Did you install PostgreSQL?
No problem, render using CPU (which you do anyway as soon as you run out of VRAM in the cards=
Which version of DS did you upgrade from?
With 10.13 (which I still haven't put into any system yet), there are built in drivers for GPU expansion over Thunderbolt, so no moren hacky KEXT to get it to work according to those who knows.
10.9.2.70 the cms error started on the old version so i re-downloaded the new 4.10 and still get the same error message.
Yes i did i can see the folder on my computer.
