You copy them back to the downloads folder, then launch DIM and work offline.
What I do is just make a copy of the DAZStudio4 64-bit folder in /Applications/DAZ 3D and rename it like DAZStudio4 64-bit 4.12
This way I still have it in case. You can also backup the corresponding folder in ~/Library/Application Support/Daz 3D to be sure no new settings will make the old version go awol.
@Fixmypcmike: Ah, OK! So, it looks like I'd need these 2 zip files: GoZfor DAZStudio412, and DAZStudio412. Is that it? And even if the 4.14 files are also in the Downloads folder, I can still find and install the 412 files.
But if I do this, and 4.14 is installed, will I still be able to run 4.12? Won't some of the new files added with the install of 4.14 interfere with 4.12 running successfully?
I've done this keeping 4.12.0.86 running in parallell with 4.12.1 and onwards. Thats why I recommend backing up the stuff in App support as well (duplicate it), just in case.
You'll want to remove the 4.14 files including the .dsx files so that DIM only sees the 4.12 files
Oh, OK. Thanks for clueing me in.
I don't understand these instructions, which are in the link cited: Copy the following script, paste it into the Script IDE pane, and execute: What or where is the Script IDE pane? And after I've placed the script there, how do I execute it? Do I just double click on it (Macintosh)?
Script IDE is a Pane you can open.
Open the script from there (orn paste in the text) and then click the execute button
I bought a product which contains a number of script which are supposed to go into the Favorites Menu. I don't have a Favorites Menu in my version of DAZ Studio. When I click on the helper script that is supposed to place the other scripts into the Favorites Menu, DAZ Studio crashes (v. 4.10.1.118). Is there a way for me to create a Favorites Menu?
OK, thanks. It's amazing the things I don't know.
Don't even know if that exists in 4.10 ( looks like a lot came in 4.12.1.65 for the DzActionMenu, but you can always try the "Window > Workspace > Update and Merge Menus action"
DAH! OK, my mistake again. It is 4.12.1.118.
I did the Window>Workspace>Update and Merge Menus. Nothing. I don't see a Favorites Menu.
Then try the Update and Merge Menues. Its the same thing as rightclick a script in the content browser and do "Create Custom Action", that will create it.
You can alo loom at the Windows -> Workspace -> Customize and look at the Custom entry, there they are, and sometimes that gets corrupted witrh too many DS crashes and updates. I had that removed some old and boom they were all back
OK, I did right click a script in the content browser and selected "Create Custom Action." I got what's shown in the screen shot. It shows the Root Menu as Favorites, but there's also a Submenu with a /. Do I just ignore the Submenu part?
I also did the Windows > Workspace > Customize. I could not find it there. I opened some of the items, such as Panes. Lots in there, but no Favorites Menu. Is one procedure better than another in creating a Favorites Menu?
Windows > Workspace > Customize, then on the right side click the Menus tab, right-click on "Main Menu Bar" and choose "Add Submenu" name it Favorites, and drag it where you want it to appear among the other menus.
Just reporting back on what happened: When I tired the Windows>Workspace>Customize routine, it seemed to work, but when I then tried to add the scripts to the Favorites Menu, DAZ Studio again quit. Next, I tried the right click on a script and chose "Create Custom Action," with the Favorites selected. I had to add the scripts one at a time, but they are now in the Favorites Menu. I'll be trying them out next, just to see if they really are there and work. Screen shot shows the result of the right-clicking on the various scripts. Thanks everyone for the various suggestions and help. I finally got it done.
OK, just to confirm. All the scripts, and the link to the Manual, do work, and I now have a Favorites Menu.
Actually, this did happen, minus the being able to drag the Favorites menu. But, when I clicked on the "helper" file for the scripts I bought, (see screen shot), DAZ Studio again crashed. When I reopened DAZ Studio, there was no Favorites menu and, of course, the scripts had not been placed in the non-existing menu. I suspect that there is something wrong with this "helper" or installer file, at least for Mac users.
Which script is it?
It's the Pose Randomizer Pro helper script. It's the second edition of Pose Randomizer, so Pose Randomizer Pro.
Anything in the Studio log (log.txt) that could reveal why it crashes?
Would be the last lines after it has crashed.
Nope. Already tried that out with the creator of the product and with that file. As for my DAZ Studio log file, DS crashes so quickly that nothing is written into the log to explain why that happens. The creator of the file also gave me several alternative versions of the file to try, and, of course, to report back regarding the succes or failure thereof. Nothing worked. The creator says he does not have a Macintosh computer.
Here's a link to the product discussion, and it also includes some of my log files: https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/443532/released-pose-randomizer-pro/p1
Maybe you can make something out of this. You could start reading on page 1, at post 1353, and begins on Nov. 5th. My discussion goes on to page 2 and the Nov. 9th post.
Can we use Daz Content versus the DIM installer?
You mean DAZ Central ?
Otherwise I didn't understand the question.
DAZ Central do the same thing but different, some like it some not.
Daz Connect maybe?
I was wondering if there's been any sign of or movement on having a vesion of Mimic or Lip Sync that will work on a 64-bit OS? I'd love to turf my 32-bit version of DAZ Studio, and/or update to a newer OS but I'm hesitant without some form of lip synch. I'm open to any other optons that would work on a Mac as well, paid or otherwise, short of running a PC partition.

Since the upgrade to the most recent version, I've had two hard crashes when I went to stop or save a render. Both were large (3600x3600 px), so I don't know if this is just something that happens with exceptionally large renders or if is a more general bug. Is this the best place to report this?
Crashes or "termination". I've seen that a few times since 4.12.1 and forward, very hard to figure out but is did not actually crash (no crashlog) but it did for some unexplained reason just terminate itself.
Sometimes there is a r.png in the tempfolder, (the render result), and the log.txt says something about r.png written.
Just asking so I know if I should make a big render and kill it to see if I get the same thing.
