Male brains tend to be larger than female brains so he doesn’t fit in a smaller skull. I didn’t realize that when I devised the Brain thing that would be a limitation... perhaps I can weasel around this technicality by saying Boyd having his brain out younger is a bit smaller than average....  but I want him to be a fully developed male brain.

or perhaps Boyd’s brain is more fluid. Thus enabling him to transfer in much easier.

i do want him to assume female form on occasion so I shall have to ponder this.

A quick science moment:  the difference in men's and women's brains are an average and the ranges mostly overlap.  The average size diference is 10% which is visually difficult to see.  There doesn't seem to be much correlation with brain size and intelligence.... I remember a dreadful book in my youth called Day of the Dolphin which was fiction involving the larger brain/body ratio that dolphins have compared to humans. The problem was that dolphins echolocate and have to navigate in 3 dimensions so they have vast areas devoted to sound processing and spacial recognition.  The areas devoted to cognition and memory are rather small unfortunately so that a domestic pig could out-problem-solve a dolphin.

Very interesting. I didn't know that about dolphins but that makes sense. So  maybe Boyd is still within range to fit most average-sized craniums. Obviously a child or smaller person maybe not so much.

Once, one of our grad students was dating a "brain cutter"; a specialized pathologist who removes and examines the brain during an autopsy.  He showed up one day with a rubberized icebucket with a blue surgical cloth over it. She shouted from across the room that if there was a brain in there then don't bring it into the room. He dutifly [laced the bucket outside the door as he talked with her and then he carried it away for delivery on their way to lunch.  I did get to see the brain though which was nice and healthy looking.

Hah I don’t blame her. Thank goodness we have people willing to donate their organs so they can be studied and used to further the prevention of disease. Now if only more people would agree to be organ donors.

You made me curious.. What would Boydette look like? My collection of female skins is somewhat sad.. So I reused Boyd's skin. There we go..Hmm. Reminds me why I don't illustrate women that often... HA

Hah hah. We shall have to work on it. I'll keep my eye out for a comparative female skin.

On the topic of Men's new releases. Here is DZ G8M SkinZ Set 1. It is a monokini body suit, with a number of mat zones. I think this looks pretty good! There is also a texture expansion by Anagord.

This is the new set 3d Photo Scenes - Lonely Road, by Dreamlight. https://www.daz3d.com/3d-photo-scenes--lonely-roads

I really like this, because it includes ground, which I find a weakness in the HDRI method of lighting. It also lights and renders quickly, making it doubly useful. This was certainly a good purchase.

And yes Owen has hair. I've been trying out some new styles on him for when he gets out of the marines. Boyd of course likes his original hair.

Great posing as usual with the two of them. The tie blowing in the wind is a nice touch.

  • Serene NightSerene Night Posts: 17,647

Aww thanks. I wanted to put Owen in front this time as well. He tends to ride on the back because he’s the shorter one and it is easier pose-wise but the truth is both guys like to drive. They probably have to take turns.

Well, I had a lot of excitement when the new cow product plus calf was released because I figured I'd redo my cowboy poses with the new calf. But the calf is.... Not as calf like as noggin's calf. The head is small, the body boxy and long, and not with enough bend morphs. The legs can't be folded up like a calf might if it was tucking its legs up it is rather horse-like. Ah, I am disappointed.

    Is that CowBoyd?

  • Serene NightSerene Night Posts: 17,647

Hah hah. Good one, no it s just m8.

Boyd could give or take cowboys, however Owen loves cowboys so therefor occasionally Boyd wears a cowboy hat.

Well, this is the best I could do. Poor little calf. I had to twist and pummel it to a kneeling kind of position. I could not turn it's head to look at the rider, like noggin's was able to. The calf has very narrow range of movement.

We wont talk about the right rear leg, wihch I dould do nothing with, and is somewhere imbedded in the horse.

Reminds my of the cow pasture near my sister's house. Every spring there are new calves and it is so cute to see the calves bounce and hop and skip in excitement when their mother returns to them.

Okay, here is my free cowboy pose set. It is the one I released for free in bits and pieces in my last thread, but includes some modifications.

Additional figures are Horse 2, Western Bric-Brac,  Western Saddle and Bridle, Daz Lamb, and Denver the Calf.

I had some trouble with Denver. He doesn't quite bend well enough to tuck his little legs up on the saddle like I wanted so... YMMV.

I wanted to try making a boba bubble drink as this is something Boyd enjoys. I had trouble making the drink both milky and transparent, but here we are. I used little primatives to make the boba and straw. JG's drink shaders helped make a transparent drink with some gradient colors to it.

Hmmm, had never heard of it. I did have very good milky tea once when I visited an ashram with my brother. It was too good to be just regular black tea with milk and sugar but I have not ideal what else they put in it, some sort of mild spices I guess.

Black tea, sweetened condensed milk and spices usually. You have excellent taste buds.

but there are all kinds, some are more like shakes.  Usually a flavor like taro, green tea, peach etc.

The straw is larger to accommodate tapioca pearls inside.

this is very popular where I live, and common in Asian restaurants.

I will have to try some make at home as I have tapioca flour here, we have nothing so fancy here. I plan on buying a lot of tea shrubs (about 24!) as an woods understory here actually as they are evergreen in zone 6b and have lots of pretty white flowers. Part of my backyard is an overgrown mess with the previous owners having planted some type of honeysuckle shrub and other far eastern shrubs that spread like wildfire, don't have flowers, and aren't that interesting. So combining those tea shrubs with about 24 European hazelnuts (special ones hybridized in Oregon so they're immune to Eastern Filbert Blight) and they should out shade and out compete the weedy shrubs there now (or so I hope). It would also eliminate mowing in that section as it is quite uneven and steep in places - a risky place to mow (I don't mow it now and the prior people didn't either which is what's allow those imported weedy shrubs to grow).

The drinks look doable, I’ve seen recipes on the Net like this https://www.epicurious.com/expert-advice/how-to-make-bubble-tea-or-boba-tea-article

you can make boba as well... but they are inexpensively purchase too on amazon.

nothing like cold boba tea on a hot day.

One can make a vegetarian version with coconut milk.

my bubble tea was not milky enough. I think I would have to make the boba very close to the plastic inner cup to show with a thicker drink shader in the cup.

A friend recommended I purchase the Secret Agent Car. It has a nice interior, iray textures, and lit headlights. The doors open. The trunk does not. It is not scaled to fit DAZ Characters. It is too small. Scaling up is feasable, but you will make it a touch too long. I fit Owen and Boyd inside quite easily. You can (Barely) see them. I placed the car in Urban Future 5, which has some nice emmissive shaders. Unfortunately I used the beta to render this and it ended the render before it was completely done.
