Thank you, Wendy -- Here's to hoping you are correct, and it doesn't need to phone home to the mothership to work like PhotoDonut2, or Marvelous Designer do...
The developer says as much on their forum to a query
Ouaw ! Very nice !
Background made in Flowscape with other included trees. The free gate is from Daz website and the free stones are from Unity3D. I just have modified the textures.
Background making always was difficult to do for me. With Flowscape I need a few seconds or minutes depending on the automatic randomly options I use or not.

very nice composition 6R
I made it easy on myself importing RedHouse cottage to Zbrush and running UV master then using UltimateUnwrap3D repaint to transfer the texture over to the single mapped mesh
DAZ studio texture atlas acts far too unpredictably or that would be the obvious solution for simplifying texture import, I also made it a single mesh
Thanks a lot.

Thanks for mentioning it. It's pretty cool for $12. Struggles at the 4k map setting for me but still... nice ;-)
a little Flowscape and Twinmotion comparison, the latter is free from Epic Games and loads of fun too
Looked at TwinMotion. Looks more versatile and capable than FlowScape. Does it export OBJ or anything else DS can import? Closing that loop is always the difficult bit with 3d modelling & visualisation. CAD packages won't talk to architects software, surface modellers won't talk to solid modellers. All very vexing.
Richard.
No only import though it will render big 360 VR images too you can use as environment domes.
The problem with most of these programs is assets licensed to them,
Free is great so not complaining but as far as the assets I have looked myself to get blending animation
it uses Speedtrees which you can buy or buy the costly program and they are dearer than Xfrog trees, iClone also has them availabile cheaper as does Unreal and Unity and Vue,
3D people possibly from AXYZ designs and other assets I cannot identify and would like to like the vehicles.
As to Flowscape I also have been sifting through the Unity asset store to no avail as would like to integrate some of those in Carrara in particular for foregrounds
In my work life I use SolidWorks, perfect for what it's designed for; engineering models. Curves and natural forms are difficult. Renders, figures and the random clutter of life are almost impossibly difficult with it. Landscapes are impossible; every leaf would have to be individually modelled to the correct shape (transparency maps are impossible).
Guess what I want to do. Yeah, renders of landscapes with figures. Hrrumph.
I have identified some of the Flowscape assets in the Unity store, the plants are likely by Silver and the Medieval buildings by PolyPixel but no idea who does the dragons and orcs etc, it might be Protofactor.
I really only want some foreground stuff to blend in so not important that it’s exactly the same but near enough, Twinmotion that is much easier as the Speedtrees are identical to the iClone ones I own and you can import much bigger detailed models albeit static too just as shame all their 3D people modern with mobile phones and stuff.

@6r Your backgrounds look great. I especially like the cartoonized version. Do you mind sharing how you are getting that look?
First time posting here....this inspiration came from a photo I saw once, from somewhere in Indonesia, and I believe there are called Column Rocks.....
Interestingly enough I found the Dragon used in Flowscape and some of the animals and they are currently free Epic Games Unreal Engine assets!
Not regretting this purchase at all. I have barely any time to play in it extensively yet, but from the two short times I played with it I am really lovig it.
Thanks again, Wendy -- You led me down the path feeling a little easier that everything would work out as hoped.
Tried the import function today, but it was a quick test, so I did not set up everything for a correct import -- Still, it worked for a quick play to get me this image :
terragen is better https://planetside.co.uk/ the free version is limited though
you can also create HDRI's https://planetside.co.uk/forums/index.php/topic,23976.msg242129.html#msg242129
if you PC is good enough, you can just use the terrain model in Daz instead of buying the limited terradome 3
still, adding the vegetation takes time without ultrascatter pro or similar https://www.daz3d.com/ultrascatter-advanced-instancing-for-daz-studio
I’ve had trouble getting ‘make hdri ‘ stuff to work in the past; I got a bunch of cloud products for Carrara to try it but the results never had proper dynamic range.
I am also getting black .exr 360 degree panoramas from FS. Anybody has found the solution to that?
Orangutan - https://www.daz3d.com/ape-world-orangutan-with-dforce-hair-for-genesis-8-male
rendered in Daz Studio with background from FS.
you can open the .EXR to edit or create your own HDR's using Luminance HDR downloadable at https://sourceforge.net/projects/qtpfsgui/
Getting there with FlowScape after downloading it yesterday. The 'Save Panorama' button seems only to save a jpeg, but if it means it works now, who am I to complain?
Still not got beyond the 'Oh Wow' stage, so it's going to be a while before I get to produce any backgrounds I want to use in DS.
Regards,
Richard.
Hi all.
I bought Flowscape two or three weekends ago and only had a chance to play for a few minutes. A few days after buying, I was sent an email from the program creator letting me know of an upgrade. After searching everywhere I could see no place to get a free upgrade. Does anyone know whether re-buying is the only way to get new features (which seem to be turning up frequently)?
Edited for typing error.
Grab the itch app, easiest way to download without failing and you can easily upgrade with it too
otherwise your email should have a link you downloaded it from which goes to the updates which are free to past purchasers, it tends to drop though hence using the itch app better if you don’t have a download manager app
Thanks so much, Wendy. I've just finished one of my all-too-long posts in the Carrara thread but I'll be calling it a day shortly.
Odd after fluffing around updating Visual Studio which it wanted UE4 let me add Ansel to my project and it works and does the exr HDRi 360 too!
So no idea why Flowscape's doesn't
I have a lot of the assets used in Flowscape too I found including a set I bought about 5 years ago that has all the little boats, fish racks barrels etc
this is just the UE4 thumbnail
my trees won't texture in the cooked game for some reason
I wonder if anyone could give me some advice.
I have created some panoramas in FlowScape using the in-game 'Create Panorama' button. The colours look just right in the .jpg panorama, rich & exactly as seen on screen in the game (missing lens flare & sun volumetric lighting in the mist, but that's by-the-by). However, when I get it into DS the colours look all washed out, like @Artini's first image above with the gorilla. In my case, it's not intentional.
The process I have followed is to go into the render tab, select 'Environment', select 'Dome and Scene', then load the panorama as the dome image. The Environment setting is 2.00, which I turn down to 0.25 to get the colours less washed out, but after this they are dull and not as vibrant as in the game. If I set the environment to 'Dome', then the camera headlight is switched off & the figure is way too dark.
Can somone spot what I am doing wrong from my description or maybe point me to a tutorial that would be applicable. I have had this with most HDR images I have loaded into DS too, so I suspect it's the way I'm using DS rather than a FlowScape problem.
Regards,
Richard
I have tried exported 360 degree panoramas from my own projects in Unity in .EXR format
and they provide the proper lighting in Daz Studio included in such panoramas,
but I have the problems with the colors similar to described by richardandtracy.
I like better the colors I got from FlowScape panoramas, but since they are in JPG, they do not provide the proper lighting.
The question is: Does anybody has succeded with adding additional light setup in Daz Studio,
that mimics lighting conditions in JPG panoramas, and together make renders possible to have
both proper light and such nice backgrounds provided by saved panorams from FlowScape?
If so, please post some howto information about your workflow. Thanks in advance.
FlowScape is build in Unity and I suspect there is some problem with Ansel in Unity.
I will try to add Ansel to some of my Unity projects to see, how .EXR exports works.
