  • What motherboard is it?

Hey Robert- I just got back from mom's.  My son is going to contact the manufacturer support tomorrow to see if they can talk him through it. Thanks though!  :)

    How's your mom doing @Novica?

  • NovicaNovica Posts: 23,887

She's doing quite well. Will be turning 92 on December 7th!   She had a possum outside her window and we enjoyed watching him scarf up some of the birdseed that was on the patio. I had gone over to refill the feeder and clean up the porch, but I waited about fifteen minutes so he could get what he wanted, then I just scooted the seeds off into the grass for his later dining. Thanks for asking!

I'm headed off to get some sleep, trying to stay on a better schedule- but if you folks haven't seen the 6 hour flash sales, pop to the sale page before these disappear. It says 6 hours and they have them by alphabet.

  • frankrblowfrankrblow Posts: 2,052

The 6 hour sales of 60% off stack with most other discounts (except the regular https://www.daz3d.com/fast-grab-3d-models/ items), and includes things like https://www.daz3d.com/strike-back-outfit-for-genesis-8-female-s that was already 70% off and cost me $2.64.

The only other discounts I've seen on the 60% items, apart from the PC+ 30% off for Daz Originals, are the Fast Grab discounts on a few items:

The fast grab discount stacks with the 60%, giving you 88% off altogether. Not all the current Fast Grab items appear in their relevant 60% off sales, and I suspect these ones weren't supposed to be either - so pick them up while you can!

  • I'm one of Novica's kids (the older sibling of the one that tried to install the thing).

If the computer is inoperable, how would we check for the information you need about the motherboard? For any discussion from here, it might be better to do it in PMs so this thread doesn't get derailed.

The fan runs. There's a 3 prong plug but no 3 prong insertion thing on the motherboard.

It's not too bad a problem as the system will shutdown itself if the CPU gets too hot. It's pretty rare to get too hot on a machine that doesn't render. I think the shutdown temp is 105C. There is not much that you can do to except read the mb manual & replace the fan that's the wrong connection type with one designed for what the mb has.

Oddly enough, I'm building me PC finally after 13 years, and that's the only part I've ordered they haven't shipped. I ordered on Sunday the 10th from Amazon Warehouse too. Lucky for me when I order the AMD CPU in January it comes with a CPU fan/heatsink designed for the AMD AM4 motherboard I'm waiting on.

By the way, the Marvelous Designer Holiday/Black Friday sale has already begun and runs until 31 Dec 2019. And the sales price price is a hefty $100 more than last year. I guess they feel confident that if you really want Marvelous Designer but can't justify $490 you'll still buy for $340 instead of $240. I'm not so sure because my PC I have now wasn't fast enough to do the MD tutorials. I'll have me new PC build by next year and will try the tutorial again and see if it's something I might buy.

If it's any consolation, the upgrade price doesn't get a discount for Black Friday.
    sad

But it is 75% off MD9 if you own MD8.

It was a disappointment but honestly if I like the program enough and what I could understand of the tutorials it's a huge productivity enhancer, I may even buy at $490 although I realize I'd be one of the few that wasn't a real business that did pay so much.

I wouldn’t have thought the latest flash sale would have been so tempting, but apparently the letters N-R are just crampacked with vendors whose stuff I really want. Hell, just the letter O has both OutofTouch and Oso, which could put enough of a hurt on my wallet without even factoring in all the other great vendors.

I was really tempted to buy Oskarsson products that I want and he has a boatload full of them but I must wait til next summer. frown

@nonesuch00, I was thinking about this last night. I got really lucky last year, with the $240 price tag. I've been wanting MD for years, and in January 2018, I made the decision I was just going to go ahead and buy it. In fact, I almost purchased the license that summer at full price, but then I read that MD had been discounted 30% on Black Friday for several years, so I waited. I was fully expecting a $340+ price tag.

Even at $240, I used Paypal Credit to get the license, (and will use it again to get the upgrade,) and took advantage of the 6mo to pay without interest. (I've had that account for 12 years; It was Bill Me Later when I first used them to buy a new computer from NewEgg. A real bank is now behind it, and I'm not sure how easy it is to get started these days, but it's well worth checking into.)

Well, Jacksonville lost. Now Eagles vs Patriots. Go Eagles!  (Not doing so well still trailing...)

Dance of the Veils 2 (V8)       Genna (Teen Jane 8)        Short Wet Hair (G8M/F)       dForce Kakenda Outfit (G8F)

I tried Dance of the Veils, didn't really understand how it worked. But there are poses, then there's numerous veils which go with them. Then you can scale, translate them in to place based on the size of your character. It's an interesting concept. I was playing with a couple products and threw them together.

I really don't like the shoes with Kakenda. It has a line that separates the toes and I think it makes it look like it's an error. You know, like when you put the shoes of one generation on another one.

The veils have different material zones for the front and back, which is nice.

Reminder- Short Wet Hair also has a wet geoshell for the character's body. I added it just for fun (it makes no sense for her to be wet LOL)

But the Bills won! laugh Squish da Fish!!!!!!

Sounds like a good deal. I have done that in the past but I'm wanting to be debt free including no mortgage so I'm trying to pay discretionary income to built a PC and so on. It's hard to believe but by the end of 2020 I will have completed buying all the trees, shrubs, and lots of other things for house & hobby I set out to do in March 2014 at last! I'm a year late completing it because I had to replace some failed things I've bought multiple times.

I am currently spending $1100 from November - March to built an AMD desktop computer that isn't already obsolete when I add in the last piece. It's a relief because it seems with each new Windows 10 update, each new DAZ Studio update, each new Unity update my computer slows down just a little bit more. It's not my imagination either so a new desktop I can update for the next decade seems to be very necessary. I same has been happening to my iPhone SE too! I've had it now just over 3 years. I'm going overseas for 2 months in summer like I planned. And in fall I will complete the last of the purchasing of landscaping! At last!

You can bet though that I will wait until Black Friday again next year to see if there is a Marvelous Designer sale again and this time I'll have a PC that can handle it. I'll do the 30 day trial though before hand to be sure in case they have a sale. I can stomach spending $240 on SW and not get constant use from it but somehow spending $490 on SW and not constanting using it seems too much, at least for me & my budget.

I think this pair of pants  is lumpy, aka the Casual Chic Outfit. Take a look at the sitting down promo,  the end of both legs. The top one seems a tad stiff and flared out on the top knee area.  Both legs at the knee look really lumpy and that bottom knee looks....bad.

BTW yes, that banner code includes the pro bundle. Don't know about the starter bundle. Normally the banner says enjoy x percent off the pro bundle, but this time it's worded differently.

the code seems to work on any of the items on the jenni 8 page, even if you don't have Jenni or either bundle in your cart -

Yes, it's like they are made of the thinnest silk but a tailor wouldn't design pants of silk that thin.

I don't find them all that lumpy, but I do think they look like they're about to fall off. Look at the main promo:

There's a visible gap between the waistband (hipband?) and her left hip, and the whole thing's sagging in the middle. It looks a bit like she has her thighs clenched together in an effort to stop gravity doing its worst. Hard to remain casual (or chic) under such circumstances.

My mom had a pair of pants like those, uncle got them while stationed in the Orient and gave them to her, they had elastic at the knee and depending on how the elastic moved they could look like that

She hated them because of that elastic at the knee, she eventually removed the knee elastic so that the legs would hang loose

So a wonderful opportunity came up to acquire a rare Australian parrot, and after a couple days of research, I got him!  It had been 6 years since they had any of these in, and they were bordering on threatened over in Australia for awhile.

I had put a 24 hour hold on him (the birdstore is where I got my Kakariki)  while I did my research. Then I got him today! The Regent Parrot breeders are mostly on the West Coast, there's literally a few in California and one in Washington. The East Coast Georgia breeder retired, and the Florida breeder is hit and miss with having any.  The Regents are the gentle, quiet parrots, with a reputation like the Kakariki for having pleasing chatter, no screaming- and no biting. These birds simply won't bite. I've got mine in the master bedroom to quarantine him for at least a week, and he's in there snoozing.

Here's some fun videos for you. Yes, the Regents talk.
In the photos below, where there's two birds, mine is in the background. I think the foreground bird is female, based on the curved skull and less color in the beak. The males are a more intense orange/red. My guy is going to go more of a yellow if he's a male. Will get the DNA in about a week. See how the chest is already lightening up in the first photo?

I had looked up cities in Australia, and tried to find southwestern cities as that's where the birds are from.  So Pemberton it is- aka "Pem" when I shorten it as I talk to him. It's a regal name and fits him.

Anyway, although known as Rock Pebbler, that can also apply to Princess of Wales parrots. For this bird, Regent identifies which Rock Pebbler it actually is.
Anyway, hope you enjoy these videos!

    Midori

    Rudy

    Pemberton is in back.

His wings are clipped, they'll have pretty color when they grow out.

He's going to sleep. These were parent raised, and not used to people, yet one afternoon out on the playpen and people could walk by and these guys were perfectly calm!

    He is gorgeous @Novica!

Jenni 8 with HD addon    Spice of Fall outfit   French Twist Pony Tail    Boss Lighting Set

Post adjustment were some white balance and sharping and tad bit of color adjustment; then added a border to make it look more like a photo. Second attached image below is unedited render.

Out of the box Jenni 8 looks good to me, it took a bit for her to grow on me though as far as looks but I really liked the look of her skin. Her skin tone looks great to me also, the only wierd thing I had happen when I apply a makeup setting her face turned dark in texture shaded (might be user glitch too......). And to me it looks like her skin on her face looks a little darker then her body on render.  Im not really impressed with the makeup thats available but I have sets that will help with that.

Spice of fall outfit, although its a cute look I had issues with the top.  I am not the greatest with dforce and so I have not adjusting any settings other then to simulate with memorized pose or not.  I tried both and got poke through on the right breast and the right shoulder and forearm close to the elbow, with this pose.  I had to scale up the outfit, simulate then had to adjust the y translate just a little to get rid of the shoulder poke through.  Hair was off during simulation.

French Twist Ponytail- Honestly I would not have bought this if I hadn't gotten the Pro Bundle.  Not that it isn't good hair its just not something I will use much I don't think.  It has different 14 color options that look good.  It states on the product page that it has 69 movement/adjustment morphs I did not find but maybe I should have looked a little more, I didn't really spend a whole lot of time on the hair part.

BOSS Pro lights- What can I say, AWESOME light set!  Still learning how to use it but even straight out of the box I am getting great results! Well worth the purchase!

Thanks for showcasing Jenni 8. I didn't get her (and won't be spending money for a long time now LOL)
Yep, the Boss Pro Lights are a lot of fun to tinker with, your results are very nice.

What age would you folks say Jenni is supposed to be?

I got just Jenni and the HD.

Late thirties to mid-forties I'd say.
