I'm playing with my avatar, thought black and white would be fun. One of these days I may try a Photoshop plugin. Wonder if those would show up very well.

Thank you for the information, and what a beautfiul render!

The description states "Optimized for Iray." The dead horse on the topic is that "Optimized for Iray" doesn't have to mean Iray materials, only that the materials will work in Iray, even if they are 3DL materials. (I shall refrain from beating the horse, again.)

My default render settings, my start point for all renders, was throwing up some strange firefly artifacts on the water, low wall and left wall which went away when I changed the water material.

    The scene grew a bit.

@fishtales   Oooooh, that's eerie!  Well done!   You should have had this for Halloween!  (Or did you and I missed it?)

I only did it straight after I posted the first image of Old London Town.

i'm popping in out of the blue to thank you, novica, and all the other contributors to this wonderful thread.  it was invaluable in helping me navigate this year's PC+ sale.

i found some real treasures in Platinum Club For a Day that i would have breezed right by otherwise.  and passed on quite a few items that had drawbacks that their promos didn't show.

    so thanks!

I was thinking of the old days and my mind wandered to Atlantistyle, a third party store that made figures for M3 and V4 a very loing time ago.... An example of the M3 chacters can be seen at http://atlantistyle.com/atlantistyle//index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=shop.flypage&product_id=24&category_id=8&manufacturer_id=0&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=93&vmcchk=1&Itemid=93
I decided to see if I could do a quick iray conversion and render.  It was an education on the limitations of the earlest figures:

To L'Adair and Barbult, who seem to be quite handy with strand hair!  I just started playing today and have a couple questions, if you don't mind.  (While I did read through every page, this thread started changing direction around 20 or so.  Less tips, more about dforce being kept to PAs only.)

Have you found a way to adjust the brush size via hotkey rather than the slider?

I tried creating hair on the Precious Clydesdale and had "bald" spots.  Density didn't fix the issue.  If fact, the areas that were going to end up with little or no hair were visible in the editor before I even tried styling it. Any suggestions?

Barbult.  I agree with Steve about your hairs!

After only a morning of trying SBH, LAMH is now officially dead to me.  I have wasted so many weekends trying to work with it.

Check your paint maps to be sure all areas are white where you want hair.

@nemesis10   Interesting! Yep, the arm muscle looks a bit wonky, but then again, that was my complaint about M8's upper arm caving where it should have been convexing. Long time ago!  I think you did a really good job considering what you had to work with!

More barbult than me. She does amazing work.

@Fishtales, your image went from beautiful to "Oh, bleep!" in one fell swoop, (pun intended.) I haven't used this yet, having "numerous" new toys to play with now, but I'll keep in mind the thing about the water. It looks perfect in your renders.

    @cismic Thank you.

Just to re-iterate, the water shows those fireflies on my default render settings, it might be alright on the default settings or your own settings.

Just getting online- as everyone already knows, the stacking discounts are wonderful. I already have the pro bundles but picked up a few things, going for the more expensive stuff. I wanted to explore the Acicia as it isn't something I'd pay that much for (I don't need fox characters) but looks like it could be fun. That $80 bundle was a no brainer for $8.63   So what did you guys get?

Dang wish I had thought about Filter Forge I would have grabbed it.  I forgot they sale it here. Next time though!!

    Elios 8 Pro Bundle

    Bridget 8 Pro Bundle

    Ellithia 8 Pro Bundle

For $12.27 each.  I am estatic because I usually cannot afford the Pro bundles!!!!

  • NovicaNovica Posts: 23,887

Then with the extra 30% off, I went to the Featured Artists (50% to 66%)  then used my $18 PC+ coupon (where you have to buy $18 of stuff) and that took off another $6. So scooped up more characters of course.

I am still waiting to hear back from FF how to aquire the upgrade to 9 when it's released,  once we purchased FF8 here at DAZ

Also trying to decide if I should upgrade my video card to this one

EVGA GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER XC ULTRA GAMING, 08G-P4-3173-KR, 8GB GDDR6, Dual HDB Fans, RGB LED, Metal Backplate

I am still using my EVGA GTX 970 4GB GDDR5 and it's just not big enough anymore.  Hoping I can get them both to fit my MB so I can use the 970 for my monitors and dedicate the new one to just Daz Studio

EDIT to correct video card description

Gosh, looking at what folks got, I kinda wish I had done things differently in a way and gotten a couple of the newer Pro Bundles, except I'm also happy with what I got:

    Foreground Blends $2.40
MEGA Updo Hair for Genesis 3 and 8 Female(s) $3.59
    FLUIDOS for Daz Studio $4.80

Actually, I guess my biggest temptations otherwise would have been Sylvian Wind Warrior Bundle (hello, Sylvanas!), Fantasy Skins for Genesis 8, and Iray Distance Fog, and I'll definitely get Iray Distance Fog in the future. Haven't used the 30% yet.

    I bought:

ATLAS Armored Suit for Genesis 8  .....  $3.95
    Foreground Blends  .....  $2.40
EJ Easy Face Generator For Genesis 8 Female(s)  .....  $2.99

I already had all the pro bundles in there that I wanted, as I picked up Gabriela's with the 60% Deallz coupon yesterday, (along with the ROG Medieval Fantasy Bedroom I've been coveting since it was released.)

    Edit: Added product links.

  • I was going to totally different path before @Novica pointed out the stacking. So even though I'd purchased 10 (!!!) items from there before, I found 3 more that were... interesting considering the prices. They were wishlisted but lower priority. :)

    Christian 8 Pro Bundle $11.34
    Diego 8 Pro Bundle $11.34
    Holiday Hotel Scenes Bundle $9.59

Links fixed... and hoping to have time to render some of what I picked up since the beginning of October soon... (...before the next big sale LOL). My wishlist is down below 60 items now.

Really wish I still had some money for the BYOFG coupon. I bought three of the hair/lingerie special items, bringing my grand total for all three to $3.48, tried to buy an item from today's featured sellers, but was seven God damn cents short, so I picked something else. I could have stretched my money a little farther if I'd remembered that I hadn't used one of my PC+ coupons yet.

Of course, what would have been better was if I knew for sure that I could wait until tomorrow, when I get paid, to really capitalize on the sale.

@hotlilme74   For Chandler:  You have the wrong thumbnail in Content Library for the Characters section (where all the facial closeups are.)  You have a small, full length body shot and no details can be seen.
