They are quite pretty; however I only got pictures when I clicked not videos. Budgies also live in the western Australian Desert. My 4, Jack, Jill, Bill, & Bell are doing great. I've had them just over a year now and got 3 of the 4 (all except Jack) finger tame which isn't the easiest thing to do when they are already adults and bonded like these are. When one got finger tame it served as reassurance to the others that I wasn't trying to harm them. Jack, however, he's not afraid but he just doesn't want to perch on my finger.
I once bought a approximately 37 gram gold nugget (1.19 troy ounce) mined from the western Australia desert from near Perth. I sold it in 2012 for only $1500 USD and knew I was not getting a fair price but folk like me don't get access to the big auction houses like Sotheby's so I took the best I could get on eBay. Due to the crazy inflation of gold prices though I still more than doubled the amount of money I paid for it. I forget I paid either about 600 or 700 Swiss Francs or it may of been Australian dollars or even American dollars originally but I bought it in 2003 so I could play a joke on a work mate. See, we was going to Surselva to hunt for gold in the Vorderrhein. Well, since my work mate had a metal detector I thought it would be funny to order a gold nugget and hide it in the Vorderrhein when he was not looking and he'd think we really found a gold nugget. Let me tell you he was jumping up and down with joy at our find until I told him I bought it direct from the Australian Mint and planted it under the sand in the river so it definitely wouldn't get a huge premium for being an authentic Swiss gold nugget. Then he nearly threw it into the middle of the river! Ha, now it was me & another work mate that also came to hunt that was jumping! If you are curious I uploaded a picture of it we took right after he dug it out of the sand. Despite the joke he was quite pleased that he detected it and found it. Me & the other work mate didn't point it out to him or tell him we had hidden it. I was afraid he wouldn't find it and we'd forget where it was. It's not like the hiding something in the Rhein is like hiding it in a wading pool.
By the way, my green female IRN Matey I tamed to fly back and from a perch in my hand but Matey would never directly perch on my hand, she was afraid to. i don't know why. Anyway, ultimately a lady contacted me because I had placed an ad long ago looking to buy a male IRN for Missy, my lutino IRN that was crazy wild when I adopted her, but this lady was wanting to know if I had any IRNs that I would sell her not a male IRN to sell me as my ad had requested. Since she told me she had had a pet budgie for 10 years before it died, which is pretty good bird care, I decided to sell it to her cheap at $150 because well if she could afford one for the $600+ the ween IRN babies go for she wouldn't of contacted me to begin with. I'm glad I sold Matey though because the lady still contacts me from time to time and says Matey will step up on her hand and likes hanging around her new caregiver. I think Matey must of been hand raised as a baby by a female that was somewhat similar in personality and looks to the lady I adopted Matey out too. Pet bird can be funny, some can go to owner to owner and not care male, female, but others only like females or only like males and/or have all these other personality quirks. Now her sister-in-law wants to buy Missy from me but I said no.
Speaking of personality quirks to the point of being neurotic, Missy, my lutino female Indian Ring Neck (IRN) I did keep because she is so flakey that I didn't want her to go through adoption again, is thrilled to be rid of Matey and will now demand that I rub the top of her head and cheeks many times per day. It's sort of funny to hear her make her chimp sounds when i rub her head. I still can't get her to step up on my finger, hand, or wrist though.
I did - and plan to get him today!
Handsome parrot, by the way - he looks lovely.
Nice looking parrot, thanks for sharing the pics!
He's a lovely parrot, Novica. He looks to be a really fun character
I've managed to get Pemberton onto my flat hand, then he waddled up my arm a bit. We sat there for about ten minutes with me talking to him. Nothing like sitting on cold, hard, bathroom floor tile for ten minutes when you're 63 years old LOL. Or when you're twenty years old, for that matter. Pemberton was chittering and cooing this morning in his cage, I hadn't heard any of their sounds and it is so delightful!!!! And wow, found them in the wild at a birdbath. At 38 seconds in the video, (will take you to the page, it's the first video) a MATURE male will fly in, look at that yellow! Pemberton will change to that color, it will be so neat! The first four or five birds appear to be the younger males, they're more yellow, and the duller green one on the right is the gal. Then the next group that comes to join her are all gals, then the mature male.
Notice how quiet they are? Not shrill at all.
Are they smaller parrots? It looks that way to me in the photos and videos but that may be deceiving
Well, to compare- the Kakariki are 54-60 grams which are about from the tip of your third finger to halfway down the back of your hand, for the body. The Regent Parrot is 145 grams and the body alone goes from the tip of the third finger all the way to the wrist, and is a very solid bird. When he flies off my hand (even with wings clipped) my hand dips from the weight of take off. Adding in the tail, and it's easily to my elbow. So no, not small, probably on the low end of medium. I'll upload a photo my husband took of me working with Pemberton today in the bathroom (gotta work with birds in a small room if you're hand taming them.) Back in a few.
This will give you some idea. This is a real testament to these birds' temperament. This bird was 100% raised by his parents and NEVER handled up to two days ago. They're known for their gentle disposition and intelligence.
I've got him going back and forth from the tabletop perches to the food bowls, they're the same height. He gets on my hand and I move him from one to the other, he hops off quickly. But it's getting him used to being moved and on the hand. When he got on my arm, I left him there for awhile.
This gives you a great idea of the size. Look at those feet spanning my hand! AND THAT TAIL. It actually comes past my elbow, I went in and looked at Pemberton after I scrutinized this picture.
See how solid he is?
Thanks for the size photos. Looks like you made a good choice and good progress on training.
Okay, who uses PD Howler? Who wants to? Those who want to or to know more, PM me, nows a GREAT time. I need to know more about it though. What does it do that Photoshop doesn't, or what does it do better? It's digital painting and animation.
You can tell from their beaks that are related to budgies & those other grass keets almost surely.
Missy, my yellow gal IRN has finally started stepping onto my arm or wrist yesterday now that she realized she gets no Granny Smith Apples or Millet Spray unless she steps onto my arm to get it. She turns around and goes right back to her cage top in a hurry but it's only day 2 since she even tried it for the 1st time. Eventually she's learn I'm not going to hurt her and stay and eat on my arm, not that I particularly want her too but practically speaking it's much easier to clean her cage by moving her or take her to the vet if she cooperates. If I could potty train her then I wouldn't mind her on my arm. I'll have to try training her once she's tame enough.
She's clamoring for a head rub as I type.
Okay, I sent out PMs, I've simply got to get some sleep (4am here and only had a few hours of sleep the previous night, so just can't stay online.) If you want someone to PM you, feel free to post the request here and one of my thread surfers will help you out. I may have missed some folks this go-around, sorry!
Just saw this. Sorry, PM'd you and hope it finds you sleeping! Got a PM. Thanks!
Just getting back online. Apparently they fixed the additional 10 percent adding a new release so that part doesn't work. Still gives you a hefty percentage otherwise. (Everyone knows what I'm talking about.)
Hmmm, just now looking at the Staff Picks bundle. Will pass on the 70% off. I own everything except the Victoria 8 HD (which I could have gotten for 1.99 and passed on it then too. I got the unique character ones.) Do you folks have most of what's in that bundle? I am also missing a couple pose sets, but I can do poses. Making characters, NO.
I have all but four. And passed on three of them. One, a pose set I looked at again, and since it is often available at a smaller price, I wishlisted it for another sale.
Thank you for the heads up Novica though. I should have moved fast.
I keep being unable to say, I love the new bird's look. He is adorable.
Mary
I have it all already
Sooooooo..... you're not going to jump at a 70% off banner I take it.
Mine actually said 80% off
LOL which means they know I'm buying less this month. Or they're mad at me for not buying the latest Pro Bundle. I just didn't need another gal and the bundle was uninspiring to me. Normally I just buy anyway, but I'm spending my money on sending goodies to troops (year round, not just holidays.)
Mine was 10% off and the price was $111+. Even with only owning Victoria 8 & the Classic Side Part Hair the "Wow!" factor for the bundle just wasn't there. Not like when they did Spanish, Chinese (4 times even!), Indian, and even a Baker themed bundles in the somewhat recent past the ideal of a "nearly naked sexy bundle" was ho-hum, that's what DAZ does already do every day. Other "Wow!" factor bundles they've done that i appreciate are Ballerina, Construction Worker, Police, Fireman, and some others too (Nerds/School, Wedding, ...). And those bundles were nowhere near $111+ either.
The products in that bundle are quite good though.
Okay, this is scary. Harwood House keeps blinking and disappearing off of @kindredarts vendor page. That is a GORGEOUS set and you get so much for the price even at 30% off. Since I got a good deal on the gift card, I'm buying it. Scared me when I couldn't find it!

Hmmm, I've gone back six pages of products (with hide what I own selected) and not finding it in the main product section either. Anyone see it?
Are you referring to the Harwood House? I see it on the 3rd line of product, on the main page, and as the first product when I go to KindredArts page.
Same here
Picked it up the other day
Wonder why it blinks and disappears for me? I just bought it so I can't test it anymore, but it did it three or four times. And it wasn't on the first page at all. I know I'm not going bonkers, I rechecked and rechecked. Oh well, the little sucker's mine now due to typing it in the search bar. This is one of those products that if it got pulled I'd be kicking myself for not getting. I know KindredArts spent a LOT of time on this.
You put the fear into me. I had almost bought it and was debating, so I grabbed it just in case it was going to disappear. I am going to use it to replace a farmhouse in my current project. It's very well done with a LOT of detail. Just gorgeous.
There have been a lot of issues with products not displaying, and people only seeing "swirlies" for the new releases. This has been going on since Friday or Saturday. Anyway, Richard posted that Daz "tried a purge of the cache". I'm wondering if the "flickering" had anything to do with that. Harwood House was only released on Sunday, so it could well be affected by anything Daz does to get the site working the way it should.
There are some great props in that set. Enough to add or kitbash with other ideas and props. The house looks real nice.
I also got the BOWSTAFF @ 20% discount. But, nothing seems cool in the package.
The house was an instant buy for me just too much there for it not to be
