Oh, I'm SO GLAD you're relatives are okay so far! I know it must be hard for them to breathe. And talk about a sad PR campaign, to post information so exaggerated. :(

I honestly don't understand why these people think posting Fake News is doing anyone any good. And yes Allan says it is really smokey even in the city, and extremy hot, but they have been out there long enough to have got used to the heat (his sons were born out there and now have families of their own). He ended by saying
"Please continue to pray for a change in the weather and especially rain for us. Does more good than fake news"
And now, away from politics and back to your normal schedule
I just finished a little experiment with my character Tommie. I decided to try and convert her to Genesis 2 Female and see how she'd look. My current version of her uses Willow for G2F converted to Genesis base using GenX, combined with morphs fro m Genesis Evolution head and Body morphs, Ramwolf's Genesis Morphs, Jabba's Pin-up Girl morphs and Die Trying's 182 V4 Morphs for Genesis and used Die Trying's Sandra for V4 skin, Ella for V4 eyes and Marja Hair, with the Cross My Heart pendant, M3 Baseball cap, Stud earrings, and V4 Wrist Watch. For this attempt, I converted all of the Genesis Evolution morphs and Ramwolf morphs over to G2F using GenX, and used a slightly modified skin and eyes from FW Cassie for Teen Josie 6 (I combined the beauty marks on the right breast and lower abdomen from the Sandra skin over). Overall, it turned out well. Here's one pic each of the Genesis version and G2F version.
How close did I get?
So if you read the sales thread, the gift card sale does work again today, ONCE. There's no repeat functionality now as there was earlier. Use it with the 4 hour flash sale and get 80% or more off.
I am rendering Paper Tigers Evolution lights to compare the base settings (you can tweak tone mapping, etc with one click options) and I'll share my playtime with you later this evening. I haven't checked to see if they're still on sale but you get a LOT of light options. Basically if you have one light, the vendor then monochromes it so the color gets taken out. I haven't figured out what the "F" stands for (M is monochrome) Is it "front?" (These lights are not sold here.) They may still be on sale and in Deals you get a code too.
I'm using Casiopea, a G3F to showcase the lights, and I haven't used Gen 3 in awhile. I am DEFINITELY not launching into Genesis 9 whenever that comes out, I have enough to showcase till the cows come home, and the neighbors' cows too throughout the entire United States, Europe.....
Anyway, will start posting shortly so check back.
EJ Casiopea and Alien Girl (G3F)
For the purposes of these posts, I'm doing lighting so didn't explore all of Casiopea's options. Take a look at the Alien though, quite interesting.
TIP: One thing about these small, more puckered mouths (sorry EJ, but I never really liked this about the characters. But love the eyebrows!) When you go to Parameters (after selecting the character in Scene) and go to the posing, under Head go to Visemes. Uncheck the limits under "W" (that cog in the upper right will give you a popup to do that) and go into the NEGATIVES. That nicely widens the mouth and seems to do a better job of it than the basic "widen" mouth found elsewhere. I've mentioned this before but tips get buried with 12 threads.
Caleela Hair (G3F / G8F)
Highly recommend this hair. SO many morphs! And it's a win-win, as it's Gen3 and Gen8 Great job AprilYSH. (as usual)
Blazer Outfit (Gen3F) (Didn't use blazer)
These are SOME of the Evolution HDRI lights. Note you will have the light, then a combination of that light with F and Mono The best thing is to click back and forth with the windows open to compare.I did six this way then did random lights as I don't have time to do all 13. I was just trying to get a feel for it, not do the entire set.
First is just the light (like Evol 1)
Then Evol 1 M (or Mono, same thing)
Then Mono or M with the F. (Which is dark)
Then there's just F (dark and seems purplish)
Exposure value was 13 and Film ISO 135. I am not adjusting it to get the "best"render, I want it to be the same for all the lights. Using Mitchell filter, not Gaussian.
So you don't get confused, I'll just post Light 1 and show you all those in one post, with the Mono and F, and combinations. All are just one click.
Keep an eye on the background wall, which is a gray with a slight tint of green.
This is the Mono and you'll notice how it takes out the color.
Whoa. You don't need to be told what this one does LOL. This is the Mono "F"
This is just the "F"

Will post more later today. We're going to have huge storms tomorrow so I am headed to the store (5:20am) before it gets busy later. A lot of us are going to be in this squall line with up to 70mph winds, hail, and tornadoes. Houston area and to the west is in the line of fire today then it comes east all across the US. Night tornadoes tomorrow are predicted so be aware!

The Kibaretto does go 75% off with a new release from that sale, and if you want some underwater buildings, these would be fun to use.
Sci-Fi City KIt and its Delta City Also the long walkways also in Kabaretto store.
That's a lot of work you've done reviewing those lights. Thanks. I have Colm Jackson among other light sets that are similar so I'll budget for something else.
I am now in month 3 of building my new desktop, I finally got the AMD Ryzen 7 2700 CPU (8 core / 16 threads) yesterday and I have only one month left until I complete my new desktop. I lack the 2TB M.2 NVMe SSD system disk which I'll buy in February.
I'm quite liking my new desktop. Admitted single thread performance is not appreciably greater than the single core performance og my i7-3630QM HP 8470P Elitebook;which I kept for my livingroom couch because it is still a great computer for most tasks and convenient to carry around.
I expect the performance improvements though we I go to do CPU rendering in DAZ Studio. As it has 16 threads instead of 8 threads like the laptop is should go approxiamtely twice as fast. As there was a bakery scene I created that exceded my system RAM on my laptop and my desktop has 32 GB RAM I will test that scene first & post the results here. I will eventually maximumize the RAM to 64GB from 32GB although I doubt I'll ever create scenes that require 64 GB RAM as a practical matter.
I bought an AMD Radeon RX 570 MK2 8GB OC (for a cheap $132) instead of one of the newer nVidia cards because I wanted to program some on AMD video cards and don't expect to be rendering in DAZ Studio as much which would've of been the primary reason to buy an nVidia card for me.
I made out quite well building this PC for an very cheap $534 + 6% tax for my state via Amazon.com starting 1st half of Novermber. The $534 included a nice componets: microATX ThermalTake case, a Gigabyte AMD AM4 B450 motherboard with wifi/BT, 2x16GB system RAM (32GB), 450W SeaSonic 80+ Bronze Certified Power Supply, an a AMD Radeon RX 570 MK2 8GB OC video card.
Well, OK, the 2TB SSD when I buy it, I'm using an old Seagate Firecude 2TB SSHD Hybrid drive in the meantime, unless it plummets in price by February is going to add $200 to the build cost to make it $734 but heck I didn't see any prebuilt computers for twice as much that were as good as this computer so I'm satisfied. Those 2TB M.2 NVMe SSDs have been pretty consistently $200 except for a week at $180 during Black Friday/Cyber Monday week.
So month 4 will be my new desktop wrap up! Yeah!
By the way, I decided not to clutter my new desktop with lots of SW. Only Office, Visual Studio, Unity, UE4, DAZ 3D, Blender, and various small development utilities (eg git, tortoisemerge, that sort of thing) (not that those programs don't take oodles of space themselves with lots of their own clutter). That's it. That means I'll only be using Microsoft Edge as a browser and that's what I'm using now in these forums for the first time. I have to say it looks much better and has clearer fonts than Chrome had on my old laptop.
Okay, so I got the male centaur 8 recently, mostly because I wanted this outfit: https://www.daz3d.com/solar-wardens-for-genesis-8-male-centaur
Does anyone know how to unsee something ? (demonic shape and some dial spins, along with Krampus skin on G8M)
Wow Nath he is scary looking! Looks great though!!
Anyone who is interested Biscuits store at the other place is on sale up to 55% off/70% off for Prime members.
Really quick render. Will try to do a better one later, gotta get ready for a four day work week (14hr shifts).
Biscuits Gili Hair, Godin & Bisquits Summer Spirit outfit, PaperTiger Precision HDRI lights (i went a little overkill here need to look more at what the set does). Emy for Teen Raven 8
Slight postwork to tame the overexposure some
Where did you get that ring necklace in those pictures?
Blazer Outfit (Gen3F) (Didn't use blazer)
I edited the original post and put the outfit in there. Thanks for pointing out the necklace, otherwise I wouldn't have known I left out the outfit! Duh.
@nonesuch00 What exactly are channels? I've never understood that. Congrats on the progress!
And yes, am finding the Pro-Studio lights to be similar. One nice difference though is the Mono and F really, really changes up each basic light, and the rotation options to change the light are one click and done. These sets are a lot easier to use IMO.
Hmmm, I couldn't find channel in my review of building an AMD desktop or in any of the other posts by anyone in this thread going back to page 67 so all I can guess that channels is generically a collections of different streams of information, none of which are required to be 100% unique or conversely the 100% the same, so there may be varying degrees of overlap in the information in each channel. Do you care to give more details?
I was hoping to post a review on the iRay render time of an over 16 GB DAZ scene on the AMD desktop with the primary point of the review being it will also include the Bakery Bundle, the New York Stores, and the New York Brownstones but alas my DIM Installer has been running twelve hours and the install queue is only on product 700 of 4250 DAZ products; on the positive side I didn't have to download any products again except the DIM itself.
Ugh! This Seagate 2TB hybrid SSHD absolutely throttles my whole desktop. I thought I'd try it as it would save $200 buying an equivalent M.2 NVMe SSD but it's not going to fly. My old laptop uses an 240 GB NVMe SSD.
Hey everyone, I haven't been in this thread for a while because I was moving, which took me two months! I finally have my computer hooked up again and can render! I'm not sure if these were reviewed here yet or not, but I quickly just tested out these three products I just got on sale for 60% off. (I wish I got them during Christmas though with that extra 30% off! I miss that already!)
This is https://www.daz3d.com/palmira-for-genesis-3-and-8-female with https://www.daz3d.com/talisa-hair-for-genesis-8-females and most importantly AUTO FACE ENHANCER https://www.daz3d.com/auto-face-enhancer
I think Palmira is gorgeous and found her on a fluke because I was not familiar with the PA. I just stuck on the hair in the default position, it has lots of morphs but I didn't test them out yet, because I know EJ Hair is always great. What I was most interested in testing is Auto Face Enhancer which seems weird at first because you are adding a geoshell to the face then turning ON a new aspect of Power Pose. You have to be very careful because it's very easy to go overboard and distort the mesh and create hideous characatures but if you are subtle, it's very cool, almost like manipulating clay.
The first one is actually a bit overdone already, you have to be super subtle, but I like the results on the other two. I did these super fast, I'm looking forward to more extensive testing and think I'll use these expressions a lot, once I really get the hang of them...
Does anyone have this character? https://www.daz3d.com/rhaegal-for-genesis-8-female I'm curious if the scales are only on her face for the the red pattern or if there are more scales on her body. And if possible, how does the skin look on a male character?
One of the promos
But that promo also has scales on the face that aren’t present in the promo with the red scales, has a pretty different general appearance, and wasn’t posed in such a way as to clearly display the body scales, so it’s not unreasonable to ask just how different they might be.
Exactly, and I specified the red scales, not the green. If it's not shown in a promo, I'm not going to assume that it's there. Thanks though.
I just looked and it has the red for the face but not for the body
The body has green and Ice which is white
Ok, thank you very much.
I agree, she is quite lovely, and I think you're off to a really good start with the enhancer. I haven't picked it up yet but I had it wishlisted. It's good to see what you can do with it.
If you want to see the results of this sale, see my post in the sales thread. I own all the items in the $5 sale, but tested it to see how much you had to spend to save....under $2. The results are downright comical.
I'm beginning to think it's actually much better for older characters. The wrinkles are too strong for younger characters and look a bit too 3D sculpted rather than organic. I have to try Power Pose again without it to see if it really adds more morphs or just more wrinkles...
The general consensus on the forums seems to be that AFE makes characters look older.
