Everything is out of the box. I haven't looked / twiddled with it at all. I'm in the middle of a render but I'll go and start poking around in a few minutes. :)
Yep, curtain intersecting the window sill, which is sloppy work and poor QA. How hard was it for you to spot? Not. We should start a thread called Spot-Not. QA Failures. (Sarcasm)
You can easily move it out from the wall, but note the rod going through the curtains does NOT operate as a separate object. However, it IS separate in Surfaces so problem solved, just put Cutout Opacity to zero. Then perhaps tweak your camera angle so the rod attaching to the wall isn't a side shot which makes it obvious that it's gone. (Aka, I wouldn't shoot it from this angle, that's for sure, unless it's a distant shot. Frankly, you could do a primitive rod with scaling.)
Edit- the window sill would be a better option to put the opacity to zero. It's a separate item. That way you keep the rod.
I put a link to this post in the original one, so folks who have the Daz Deals Plug In will benefit from knowing subsequent comments exist that show this error. I didn't link the product in this post so they will find the ORIGINAL post.
Even with this goof, you get a lot in this set and the lighting and cameras make it very worthwhile. There's several rooms.
Without the bar, notice the curtains just hang there in midair. That's why eliminating the window sill is a better option.
Do the curtains have any morphs to pull the bottom away from the wall?
I'm checking as we speak :) Edit- NO. Just your typical rotation, translation, and that includes the rod as it's a group. I just edited the post- the window sill IS a separate item (the window frame) so you can just opacity that out. That way you keep the rod. The window is found under that particular wall in Scene, then all of the parts are separate in the Surface tab.
Okay, added two kitchen renders to the original post. The curtains in the kitchen are fine (they're shorter.)
Tesla3dCorp makes some really nice models but I don't think there are morphs in any of them
A fast morph for the drapes would be very easy to implement yourself though.
New sales offers up and running.
I looked at the promo pictures for that product and just applying 'real world' expectations, I would not buy that house. I would have to hire a plumber to reverse the shower, so I would not have to climb over the toilet each time I wanted to walk into it and replace the sink with one with storage. Although this toilet does have a lid and seat. The kitchen, well, I would need another cabinet or a roll-in shelf unit with layout room, to slid in next to the refrigerator. And the center island would need to either be replaced so there is room for knees, and at least put the storage access on the kitchen side and not towards the open space. And then, I would replace the range with one with controls that are at the back top, where little hands or a Husky's mouth can't turn a burner on.
Tesla3dCorp has many interesting ideas, but, so often fails to pay attention to basic architectural design standards and common details that a family or an individual wants in a home: Safety, convenience, and physical reality.
Many PAs have threads where they post WIPs and listen to feedback and improve their products. I wish we had threads for home environments like this. I loved how StrangeFate had that thread for the home and now the medieval fantasy inn. Or Darwins Mishap for his characters. They develop a sense of investment in the readers in the products.

Yes, I generally use props from sets more than sets themselves at times :) And only use part of a set at any given time. I love all the things you pointed out, makes good sense!
Heads Up in case you didn't see this thread. 3DBuzz is closing and everything (mostly tutorials) is free.

In case you're trying to figure out a good bang for the buck, if you go to the Nature Sale and pick up a new release from that one, then go to the Nature Related items, they go to over 80% off with that flash sale code. The floating island in the sky is a really fun product, look at the thumbnails. The entire top of the island is a wonderful landscape in itself!
I'm just getting online for the day (sorry for not returning all the PMs) Sounds like the store was a roller coaster today and I hope everyone had fun shopping! (I missed all of it, so if you did too, you're in good company.)
The new PC+ Sale is great and includes loads of items that are usually not on sale.
If you haven't tested the cart, three of those new releases make them 75% off. I like the stocking product, can tolerate the slanted hem miniskirt as it and the textures drop the price a lot. I'll have to think on it.
Check out this thread (and my comments at the end.) I had one of the light sets but it didn't have xray abillity. Didn't even know about it until I read it in the thread. The products are on sale elsewhere and there's a discount code that works on them too!
You won't have to manually do section planes, and these prices are really good even before the discount code of 20% additionally.
Who is this paper tiger and where is the 20% discount? I can't find them.
They are a vendor at Renderosity and currently there is Rendo coupon deal for an extra 20% off orders over $10.
@ alex86fire: Sent you a PM
Thank you, I always forget there are other stores :).
The lights looks great but there are so many of them that I, as a total newbie with lighting wouldn't know what to choose/what I need.
I think I need to do some more renders before I figure out what I need regarding lighting.
On the miniskirt if you get rid of the high heel sandals and use some realistic Greek or Roman style sandals it would be good for Minotaur, Hercules, King Midas's court type of scenes
It's a really good deal, and it's not limited to three items. But there really isn't anything in the offer that appeals to me.
I find it frustrating that offers like today's don't have a more diversified group of products. I would buy the stockings/socks product to make up three if needed, but I have no interest whatsoever in the other seven products. Now, include a set, some flower props, a male outfit/textures, lighting… a few products to appeal to rest of the demographic, and they might have made a sale from me today. And I'm all but certain, I'm not the only one.
I did take advantage of the flash sale on gift cards, though, and picked up my very first Tesla3DCorp product, along with a couple things on my wishlist.
Will talk about the sales in a minute, but wanted to show this. This is how bad the Australian fires are- the entire coast in that area is going up in flames. It's so scary because Sydney is a huge city and it's almost right on top of them. And to think 24 people DELIBERATELY started those fires.
26 million acres; 107,000 square kilometres; 41,000 square miles, destroyed over 5,900 buildings (including over 2,204 homes) and killed 28 people as of 8 January 2020
People are sleeping on the beaches, ready to flee into the water. I've lived in Sydney, and there are sharks in those waters at night, close to the beaches. Worst case scenario, but I hope they have brought in extra netting. (a protective setup to keep large prey animals out, sometimes used during water festivals.) Look below Canberra- the fires CIRCLE around an area on all sides. That's scary.
A side note- one man who lost his home won the $1 million lottery today. Good for him! I bet he helps others.
Take another look at that thread, it discusses the xray type walls (section planes) and that's what you'd look for in the product images. (The vendor labels what's in the lightset directly on the main promo image.) Get the two that have xray included in the description. This lets light in through the walls so rendering indoor scenes are amazingly easy. It would be good for a newbie to lighting, particularly at that price with 20% off, because right now those lights are ON SALE and the coupon applies to most of the light sets (the one with the red coupon next to the price means it won't apply.)
Edit: ignore the red coupons showing on the gallery page (store page) as the coupons DID apply in the cart. Only one out of five that I bought did not take the 20% off.
I got Evolution, Express, Ideal, Precision, and Vivid.
They arrested a bunch of people for deliberately setting at least some of these fires: https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/10693625/australia-bushfires-180-arson-arrests/
Appalling. If any of them are guilty, I hope the courts give them the maximum penalty.
As most of you know, things are stacking across multiple sale offers, and apparently have done so all day. If you want to maximize the Gift Card sale, go to other promo banners and do what's needed to activate those/ get more discounts, then shop the featured stores/ vendor. You'll get 82-84% off.
Interesting, the Commons commercial thread got revived, someone mentioned the product wasn't in the store, and I checked. It's true, Collective3d Movie Sets Starship Lounge is no longer in the store. When did it go poof?
Remember, I did this render with it, glad I got it. It's a huge set.
Same here
Nice render
@robertfriese Thanks. Normally I would do depth of field to blur out the background since it's so busy, but I was showing the set :) I posted this render on the thread Oct 25, 2018. Wow, been awhile!
That set and others were moved to Renderosity.
Thanks @serenenight From the other thread, apparently it was there, then here, then back there. Moves more than a Mexican Jumping Bean. Hey, we need one of those in the store... (edit, I see a bunch of people creating primitives and using shaders...)
Never passing up an opportunity to make the thread whacky...
Mexican jumping beans are real. ... The thing that makes these beans jump is a tiny moth larvae that lives inside the bean. The moth lays its eggs in the flower of the plant, and the eggs are incorporated into the seeds. The larvae then eat out the interior of the bean and live there, they move and the bean moves.
Louisiana HD (Gen8F / Darcy 8)
Made the teeth more gray, they were still ultra bright in my opinion.
dForce The Striga Ensemble (G3F / G8F)
Can't change the jewel color in the necklace. When I clicked on the image in the diffuse, it seems the pink is baked in to the map? I changed everything in Surfaces that was pink to blue, and there was no effect. Maybe I'm doing something wrong, can someone else check that? Notice above the pink, that was all I could turn to blue to match the beads in the hair. Anyway, here's a work around-
TIP: Create a primitive sphere, shrink it to cover the gem, use Ceramics for Iray and one of the blue Raku glazes. Voila, matches the blue beads. (Or whatever color you choose for the beads. The Ceramics shaders come in all colors, one of my favorite shaders.)
Gloves did not simulate well at all, even using the supplied simulation option. And this isn't even a difficult pose. I removed them.
Goddess Braids (G3F / G8F) You get several material options for the beads. I didn't do any tweaking with the hair. I think this hair goes very well with the Striga outfit.
Elegant Attitude Poses (Bridget / G8F)
These are what they say they are, very refined poses but I think they'd be good for casual poses too.
A Popular Girl Dialable Expressions (Teen Josie) (Expression)
I was pleasantly surprised, didn't need to tweak the expression too much.
This 1000px render only took 4 minutes and 50 seconds to render. So great outfit/hair for those with slower computers.
The necklace seems really distracting to me. So if someone can double check me on the surfaces not changing, because that seems weird to me. I did it several times with no luck. (Using Surface tool, in Surface tab, etc)
So this is with the Ceramics for Iray shader on the gem in the necklace. Really like it. (Raku shader)
This is the Pro-Studio lights, 2Right. I think darkening the teeth a bit was a good thing. These look natural to me.

I have relatives in Sydney who are fine so far and we also have A Brycer and a Carraraist posting in the forums Stezza evacuated, but is now back at his house using the computer he left behind.
