No, it's not. I like "paper books" way more than ebooks too.

On the other hand, ebooks are pretty useful to save shelf space, and make bringing tons of books with me when I travel much easier ;)

I love paper books as well, but at one point I was moving house twice a year for about 4 years, so I got over it and just bought a kindl.

Just tried WhiteMagus HDRI Clean skies (currently in the $1.99 category) - I rather think they should be named "Dirty Skies" for that's how they look.  You really need a top quality camera to make good HDRIs, it looks like some PAs don't realize that.  For a comparison take a look at one of Dimension Theory's "Outdoor Environments" HDRIs - a totally clean sky, uses a lot less memory and the file size is a lot smaller (5 HDRIs,  = about 500 MB while "Clean Skies" contains 12 HDRIs = 4.5 GB).  WhiteMagus usually makes high quality stuff so I'm surprised by the low quality of these HDRIs.

Hi, I was looking for some thecnical help and I just saw, your comment..

In my defence that was one of the first HDRI´s product that I made and didnt make the last post processing steps that I do now, because some people like the photo with the Raw look with the grain to make it more realistic. So at that stage I decided to keep it. Only after the use of them I realised that it would be more convinient not to have that grain. So my lastest HDRI´s dont have that Sky grain. (wich can be removed by bluring it in PS).

But, yes it is a bit too much grain, also in my first´s HDRI´s the Horizon line is not tottaly straight. To be honest I didn´t worry too much because those are things one can fix when doing the post work in Photoshop. Now I am more worried.

When you guys see, serious error´s or anoying stuff you can message me (you can use the contact page at www.whitemagus3dmodels.com), so I know because I dont go to forums that often.

You can also check the quality of the HDRI´s here http://www.whitemagus3dmodels.com/?category=Free  before you buy.

Thanks for the feedback.  I've tried a couple of your free ones but they still have a lot of noise or compression (camera?) artifacts.  Are there some better ones?

I like ebooks better when it comes to technical and informational books, they have so many advantages over paper books.  I hardly ever read fiction, I prefer a movie.

I hope these eyebrows just look bad in this particular lighting.  Go to the third row, first thumbnail.  They're sticky, and look at the bottom of them (the part closest to the eyelid.) Seems sections are really sparse.   BE SURE TO CLICK THE + AND ZOOM IN.

They seem to look okay in the other renders but those aren't close up.

I zoomed in. It looks to me like the left eyebrow is embedded too deep in the skin. At least from the POV of that camera, the hair of the right brow appears to be longer and thicker.

ETA: Zoom in on the option image, same row, second image from the right. It looks like that's how those brows are made.
    sad

I was looking at that and wondered if it was two different fibermesh brows completely, as the other one was so much longer and bushy.

Hmm, I'm getting word of a purple Leroy banner. I didn't get one, but you folks be sure and check your messages in your account in case the banner isn't showing up.

I'm headed to bed as it's going on 4am and I have to be at the airport Saturday at noon to pick up someone. So want to be on a sleep schedule where I'm going to bed no later than 3am. Didn't work out this morning lol. So you folks carry on! and have a good morning. L'Adair, do you ever sleep gal?

Are fiber brows always replaceable?  I know some are, so they seem to be separate objects.  Some vendors offer texture with no brows also, would be nice if everyone did, not least if somes types cannot be replaced.

BTW, I've never seen any DAZ base character with fiber brows, I guess that indicates what they think about them.

Another thing now we're discussing brows, I wonder why Thorne is using such strong eyebrows on their younger characters, IMO it looks a bit unnatural. Example:

    Yes.

I'm usually asleep by now, these days. But I do tend to stay up late and sleep in mornings. One of the advantages of retirement; My alarm clock has been retired, too. Don't forget, I'm on the other side of the country, too. It's only 2:30 am here.

Other than the original on its release day?  I still have that one but there were no others after purchasing him.

Same here. All I have is the original one that came out at release.

Hi all. That's probably the one they're talking about- do you still have yours so you can check the end date on it? If any of you didn't use it, apparently there's a lot of stacking/opportunities, I don't know the specifics.

No end dates on it.  It just says available for a limited time. Its the double the discounts deal for Leroy.

In case anyone is wondering, https://www.daz3d.com/aki-bodypaints-vol-1-for-genesis-8-females and https://www.daz3d.com/aki-bodypaints-vol-2-for-genesis-8-females appear to work on male characters too (disclaimer: I haven't tested every single setting on the males, but the ones I did try worked).

Interesting- previously, when you have bought an item, you can still click on it and the first time it usually took me to the product library, but the second time, I could rebuy the item. Leroy appears to be locked up. It either is not doing a thing, taking me to the library, or throwing 502 errors. If you've bought the pro bundle before, see if you can put it in your cart.

  • NovicaNovica Posts: 23,887

Okay, weird, it's in my cart even though it threw a 502 error.

  • NovicaNovica Posts: 23,887

But you don't need to buy him again to get the really good discounts. Go to the pages linked from that sale, or from your wishlist, whatever. Those really low discount prices are back. I used both my PC+ codes, put three in the cart that were DOs and it was 1.26 after the 6.00 was deducted. Then did a second, large order and used my other code (where you must have $18 in cart) and got another $6 off. SO things went to about 88% off.

Here's a fun one to consider. Price is right. I don't have time to test it though. Anyone ever use it?

I have used but not rendered the similarly themed Bumper Cars when I hoarded all the carnival/circus/state fair product from the M4/V4/Genesis era. I went with the Bumper Car product because it's more like the bumper cars we last rode in in York of all places. In USA you never see those except at yearly county fairs should you be so lucky to live in a county that still has those. Yes! They are still fun even way past childhood!

It's products like those that make me happy I've hoarded almost 4500 DAZ 3D Store products to date.

I finally got the Leroy Pro bundle, not that it's that special, but with the stacking discounts and freebies, plus three Leroy add ons, I got over $1220 of really useful products (like Decimator, two other G8 Pro bundles, and more) for less than $48.50... and that's without getting as much free stuff as I could (not all the offerings appeal to me). Happy, despite the hours of bad gateways, time out errors and so on.

  • NovicaNovica Posts: 23,887

Yep, people are getting a great deal with those Leroy pages! If you didn't get him, take a look as you get X amount free and with the 80%+ discounts, it's quite a haul.

I've never seen the site so sluggish for the entire day. Minutes go by to add one thing to the cart, amid the 502 errors.

  • L'AdairL'Adair Posts: 9,479

Testing. I tried to open my PM inbox and got a 404 error. I can reach My Drafts, but not My Discussions, My Bookmarks, Notications or my profile.

  • frankrblowfrankrblow Posts: 2,052

I'm getting 404 errors on about a third of the forum right now: can't access the Freebies thread at all, and many individual posts/threads in other forums.
