This is something I wrote and posted to the Complaint Thread a while back, but I thought might be appropriate here.
This is symptomatic of my own particular humor/insanity. :)

Uncle Grandpa Tells A Bedtime Story

"Gather around now, children, and Uncle Grandpa will tell you all a bedtime story." They sat on the floor at Uncle Grandpa's feet.
"Does it have bears in it?" asked Julie.
    "Nope, no bears," he replied.
"Does it have a dragon?" asked Billy.
"No, no dragons either," answered Uncle Grandpa, getting a little bit testy now.
"How about a princess?" asked Maggie.
"No, no bears, dragons or stinkin' princesses!" yelled Uncle Grandpa. "And if you don't shut up and listen, I'll tell the story about what happened to the boy who asked too many questions again!"
"Please don't!" begged little Elmer, "The last time you told that one I had nightmares."
"Alright then, listen up you little rugrats," and he began to tell the story.

The Gruggle Monk And The Moon

Once upon a time there was a Gruggle Monk named Bob (of course, all Gruggle Monks are named Bob). Every night before he went to bed, Bob would say "Hello" and "Goodnight" to the Moon.
One night much to Bob's surprise the Moon came down from the sky to see him.
"Hello, Bob," said the Moon. Bob was so shocked at first he couldn't speak. Finally he found his voice.
"Hello, Moon," said Bob. It took him a little while, but he finally asked, "What's it like to be the Moon?"
"Not bad," replied the Moon, "although it can get a bit cold and lonely up there. What's it like to be a Gruggle Monk?"
"It's okay, I guess," said Bob, "I really never thought about it much."
The Moon and Bob talked for a long time, then they told each other "Goodnight" and the Moon went back up into the sky.

    The End

"Well, children, what did you think of the story?" asked Uncle Grandpa. Tommy thought hard about it for a long time.
"It kinda sucked," he finally said.
"Hmmmm. Did it?" Uncle Grandpa asked, then he chuckled. "Yeah, I guess it did. Now off to bed you all go."

I added a Old render to that Old thing. It goes well with the mood it was meant to invoke. If I ever find my Copy of my Published Poem I'll add it and a render for it. It's well over 20 years old but the verse still reads fine today.

Here is a little ditty I came up with... needs a render... Sorry for the Down but I was down at the time.

Silence is Golden, oh so deadly bright.
When it is all you listen too, each and every night.

That render goes great with the ditty... I FEEL the silence. Thank you for sharing Jaderail :)
    Happy rendering!

I know she out there waiting for me

I set here looking out over the water on a lovely night

we spent many a night together on this very spot

she had eyes the color of water on a blue sky day and fine red hair that flowed down her back

I look at my watch and see it's 10 to 12

I take a pull from the bottle waiting for the bell

I spinning the chamber and clock it

I hear the church bell toll 12

    Click

    I start the car thinking

I use a anvil and chain
I know she out there waiting for me

    see you next year

Note that as an Angry Old Man™ myself, I loved the animation and the rant.

My poor fingers do that, and I so understand the iStuff rant. I'm a PC person and really got no use for hand held do hickies that think they maybe sorta coulda possibly be a PC, but are not. iPad yep have one, stuff ice in it and Pad the achey parts, iTunes yep got dat too, turn on da radio and I got tunes. iPhone use one a deem also, I phone my Sis almost every night. The best part of all my iStuff is it does not cost me a extra service charge to run the buggers... Now like tjohn said, all you kids get off my lawn!

Been looking for my Poem. I put that sucker in the one place I knew I'dd never lose it. Problem is I seem to have lost the memory of where that one place was... now when those whipper snappers invent iMemory I could sorta use that.

    In Absence…..

    In absence, my mind wanders
    o’er the last day
    you were ‘side me,
    though not to stay.

A smile curls out my lips
    from daydream thought:
    your charming face,
    the love you brought.
