Two Icosahedrons and two smaller ones inside made in Wings3D lit by the "Specular to TA Light" method (PDF on my website: 3D CG Documents > Mine > Light). The outer objects are partly transparent and reflecting. The inner ones have PHT boosted specular with max. halo to brighten the inside of the outside object. Backdrop and specular light source by an HDRI, rendered with TA and boost light. No diffuse.

Horo: Thanks and double thanks, because it is largely thanks to you and David that these works have this wonderful mood. The Dinos are nice to use in this kind of scene indeed.

Adbc, Tim82, mermaid010, Rieke77: Thanks and, as you probably know, the heavy lifting was largely done by the great landscapes and sies by Horo and David Brinnen.

Rieke77: Wonderful abstract! Many detailed repetitions and great colours.

Horo: Fantastic colourful work. Your special light methods are certainly worth a try.

The tree lights the ravine, another example of the Specular to TA Light method. Unfortunately, even though neither HDRI nor the sun have shadows (no HDRI Effect and Diffuse only Specularity) the render time cannot be considered swift, just short of 1 1/2 days - and I have another one cooking and heating my home.

Rieke77 and adbc - thank you.

Another example of the Specular to TA Light method. Unfortunately, even though neither HDRI nor the sun have shadows (no HDRI Effect and Diffuse only Specularity) the render time was again just short of 1 1/2 days. Even though rendered with 256 rays per pixel, a bit of noise remained which I had to smooth in post with a Gaussian filter with a radius of 0.3 pixel.

    mermaid - thank you.

The camera is with the GWL (gigantic wide-angle fisheye lens) inside an Alien-Artifact by MatCreator. IBL light from inside and reflections from outside. Big disappointment: I rendered over the network, Lighting showed render time and anti-aliasing time for each tile on each machine (aa-ing 8 times longer than rendering). The resulting image was not anti-aliased. I had to re-render it with the same setting without Lightning and after 9 hours, the result was fine.

Horo : Specular to TA light method gives a spectacular light effect on those trees, beautiful.

The render with the GWL has superb colours, very cool idea.

@ Horo - the trees, with the Specular to TA light method, looks awesome.

The GWL image has great colours.

    looks fantastic :) ....great job!!!

mermaid - beautiful result of this "simple" scene. Lighting is excellent, the eagle looks well lit, the mountains are very dark but there are a few hints of light and specular that give them the 3D look.

  • adbcadbc Posts: 3,115

mermaid : awesome scene, very attractive lighting.
