nice work Stezza, tell me, when you bone your figures do you have any trouble fine tuning the fall off zones?
crazy stuff Wendy, nice rendering, good to see someone using that OBJ series importer, did I see this on fast book?
I see all your lovely art on Farcebook too
heh, thanks Wendy. ! I'm shortlisted for a ten thousand dollar painting prize at the moment. Fingers crossed.
sometimes.. it can be a PITA
I now use a system that works for me.. when boning I scale the first bone (hip) down to 50% or less depending on the size of the model then work my way up to the head then branch off for one arm to wrist then one leg then a tail if there is one. When I do the hand I then scale the wrist/hand bone down again to 40% or less then finger it..
weightpainting I start at the head first then neck... then shoulders/arms then legs..
most times now I don't have to touch the elbows/hands/fingers and feet
may the best brushie win
thanks for that info Stezza, very valuable
there used to be a great tut on the French site that vanished many years ago
thank you Wendy :)
Go Headwax!!! That's Awesome!!!
Thank you Dart,
I've been shortlisted every year since it started in 2016.
It's supported by the only, very exclusive, Gentleman's Club here in Newcastle, OZ.
They hold a special prize winning dinner at the club. Formal tie suit etc.
On the night they announce the winner each artist is taken up on stage and quizzed about their work.
It's never wracking at first.
Then after a few years of it it's even more nerve wracking :)
cheers from here!
There's a quote from Mark Twain that says, on his visit to Newcastle "that it is a town with a graveyard at one end with no bodies in it, and, at the other end, a Gentleman's Club with no gentleman in it."
Of course he never said it but it makes a good story!
good luck @Headwax
your shout if you win
thanks Stezza, :) Don't worry If I win you'll be able to hear me shouting all the way down where you are!
thx :)
my first frame of a short animation to test irradiance mapping and quality/speed ratio
this took 2:14 minutes with an old octacore
Verty nice reel!
I also think HitFilm is a very good choice
One of my favourite applications. My pipeline with Carrara :-)
Hey, thank you @Headwax
That is some fine rendering work, Magaremoto!
thx, DB :)
if only daz had seen what I (and you and many here) figured out 10 years ago ....
another try for quality/speed ratio - w.i.p.
28 minutes render
Here is my first attempt to use VYusur's Cat Zeus in Carrara. Converted to blended weight in Studio before loading in Carrara. Applied some Carrara hair. Used a pose that comes with the cat. Need to revisit the shaders for the eyes.
@diomede I thought about getting it but the price put me right off...
I made a carrara Zeus fur preset for you. Hope it will be useful. I'm going to place a freebie at Rendo later.
Thank you. Much appreciated.
The Yard!
my last work that I finished. Stormy coast.
Nice !!!!!!
Hi Khoe another brilliant piece. Your work reminds me of the old masters
great render !! but everytime I see your yard it is almost underwater ;)
from here it looks photo real :! nice work , slowly slowly catch the monkey!
that's a mean looking machine - thanks for the methodology !
lol
yep.. really belted down the other day!
Hello Head Wax you're right, I let the old masters inspire me more often.
