Hedvig       Dance Practice for Genesis 2 Female(s)       Kelsie Hair for Genesis 2 Female(s) and Victoria 4

BWC Dance! Poses For Victoria 6 and Belle 6        (Links are clickable and will open a popup, then X out)

    I changed the colors of the outfit, if you like them its 154 / 35 / 158  and 100 / 117 / 149

Kelsie Hair is a MUST HAVE. There are so many morphs that it's ridiculous.

Reminder: a lot of the dance products went off New status yesterday.

Anyone else having renders of Hedvig, feel free to share.

FYI, as this new forum is taking some practice when inserting images, the one above has a height of 505, and that's about right for people to see the image with a little bit of leeway. When inserting the image, be sure to put your cursor where you want the image to be! I am putting mine on the left or at the bottom but restricting the size to 500 height. The popup will be full size (click and click again still functions.)  All the product titles will be clickable and again, all you have to do is X out and you will still be on this thread. So go explore these wonderful products! :)  (And lol, someone mentioned on another thread that I should be getting a commission- that would be nice, but isn't the case. My IGC's (Invited Guest Contributors) and I show you what we like, because we like it! And thanks to the vendors who pop in to help us when we're stuck, we appreciate you very much.)

According to Daz_Benam: The search bar at the top of the page works for both the store and forums, and switches back and forth. We now have the search function back for the forums!

Garage Hideout         Apocalyptic Plant Outdoors Set 1- Iray HDRIs

The garage doors have an open and shut slider, making it very easy to move them. I loaded the Iray lights and didn't make any changes- this is the sunny day option.

Very nice. I have that. Needs a nice car with some of Tom-Tom's free Iray car materials.

Thanks for pointing that out Tjohn, looks like a lot of nice shaders. I downloaded them and will try sometime in the future when I get around to cars.

FW Faylinn-Seasons                 Lady Scarlett for Genesis 2 Female(s)           Fairy Fae Hair

This is the Autumn Faylinn. She is much paler than Hedvig- I used the same light setup but lowered the ISO and reduced Burn Highlights (also for the white outfit, didn't want a glare.)  I did not put the hat on from the Lady Scarlett outfit as frankly at first glance I didn't see a vertical option to fix the hair poke through. The ones I saw were increasing the size of hat overall or wide. Again, I didn't break down Scene tab to see if more options were there but I expect the fixes to be together. The outfit has a foot pose fix which is really nice, makes the boots behave immediately with the high heel. I got this for a Halloween outfit as I can't think of any other time I'll ever use it.

    Faylinn is very hippy.

Heads up: Note Faylinn is now on sale 50% off (plus your summer discounts, ending today, right?) and I would hop on it as she's a nice character (the Seasons, you get Winter, Autumn, Spring, Summer. I showed you the Autumn)  If you didn't get the email, when you buy "any of today's PC+ New Releases" you get 50% off   Fred Winkler's Store  I don't have Porsha, Sabby Tiffany, or Sian so I'll pick those up. (Sorry Fred, I get 50% off the 50% due to punches!) and I might get time to render at least one of them today for you. (The least I can do for the vendor wink Thank you for the sale!)

Fast Grab has changed (since yesterday, I think.)  Nightshift3D is Flash sale at 60% off. Curious, what kind of goodies are the rest of you picking up? Any recommendations for people to look at before the Summer Savings discounts end? I'll go through and see which of my favorites are still in the stores being discounted (in the banner.)

FW Ellie-Jane HD for Victoria 6              Melissa Lynch for Genesis 2 Female(s)

Ivy Hair for Genesis 2 Female(s)           DM's Blox 'N Poses           Western Town

Had to trim the renders, they were too big in size (over 2MB) so part of the set went bye-bye. If you haven't purchased the Western Town, it's a lot of fun- large set!

(Ellie-Jane is in Fred Winkler Art store too!) Two different tests, obviously the dark hair blended a bit much, even with tweaking the midtones, contrast, shadows, hightlights- it would take awhile to get it to stand out more. So tried the Curly Locks hair, blonde. Added one distant light from front/side. It wasn't done rendering but went most the night and it's enough for you to see the outfit. I'd probably do more tests moving the light around but I am still playing with iray settings, etc. In other words, having fun.

I was still messing with the shadows, midtones, etc but have to move on, you get the idea what one distant light can do and how it changes things up. (iray, but 3dl would do the same thing relatively speaking. Makes it more interesting. The first shot is more a fading afternoon shot, with the sun going out of view behind the set)

The top half of the outfit would be really nice for closeup renders too. Think of a saloon gal sitting at a poker table, or on someone's lap. Very nice detail. (Can't really see it from these shots, do the click to enlarge, click again.)

Sickleyield's Iray Tutorial has really good information, but I'm lost at this reference: the first line of the second paragraph under Part 2 Loading Items and Converting Shaders. What is meant by "When you've set up your scene's objects, right click in the third window..."

What third window? I haven't tried any of this mind you, so I may be lost long before that paragraph, lol- but simply reading through it, I went "Huh?" at that point.

A very important question not relating to this tutorial- is the "Rendering Quality" over in the Render settings the same as in 3DL? It's set to 1.0 and in 3DL I always use 0.20 or 0.30- would that be the same here?

OT: I know this is a weird thing to post, but any of you with dogs should go to amazon and get the Greenies deal. They are chewable bones that clean the teeth and both my dogs love them- at Petsmart, only 6 of them are 10.99 (regular size) and Amazons lightening deal right now has 27 for $14.79 if you are a Prime member!  The deal is already 55% claimed and climbing. Okay, back to regular scheduled programming (except to say there is a scroll bar where you can see the upcoming Lightening Deals so you can plan when to check back)

You misread. She said "3d window". I assume she means the viewport window, but haven't tried it.

Iray render quality is not the same as 3Delight Shading Rate. Advice I've seen on the forum said leave the Iray quality on 1. I've also seen a DAZ Iray advanced render setting set it to 2, so who knows.

Thanks- I'll test it out sometime with a 1 and a 2. Or even higher to see what exactly it's doing.

I've done hours of research on this CrazyTalk and Animator thing, and for anyone considering the Animator, here's a perfect video to show you how easy and fun it is! And yes, your Summer discounts stack so now's the time to try it. Note CrazyTalk only does heads, if you want bodies then it's Animator or Iclone. This newest version has taken the "flat" out of the animations, the characters for instance can flick their hand "back" as in 3D space. There are other videos which explain that, but here's the best beginner video that I've found.

CrazyTalkAnimator video (2.0 is latest version btw)

So I'll add this to my "gonna learn it."

An FYI: For those of you using Filter Forge 4, or thinking about it,  today is the last day on that site to receive 80% off for version 4. (Unless it always says "One day left!" Gimmick?)  Regardless, if you are going to buy it as a first time user, the smart thing is to get the Professional version so you can then upgrade to Version 5 Professional for $59 instead of $129 when it is released. (If you buy the standard edition for $49, you'd have to pay $150 to upgrade to pro, or $199. If you buy Pro 4 now for $79, plus $59 to upgrade to version 5 pro, that's only $138 in comparison. The information is in the paragraph about the Beta 5, and there's a link to read more about the beta testing. Then there's a dropdown text box to compare versions. The library of 10,000+ with constant contributions for texturing is really awesome. What other resources do folks use for seamless tiles, etc? I haven't gotten into any of that.

FW Derek HD for Michael 6              Minato Outfit for Genesis 2 Male(s)           Real Short Hair For Genesis 2 Male(s)

One word for this dude- YUMMY. And he's a PC+ item! BTW, for the 3DL users- I've kept the lighting simple (IRAY) with the default lighting so it's nothing fancy- you should get similar results using a few distant lights with perhaps a spotlight added for that bright rim light on our right.

Timothy HD for Michael 6             Serpentine Monk Outfit for Genesis 2 Male(s)

Fighting Poses for Genesis and Genesis 2

I love these characters that are unique- not the model types. (Although as I said, love Derek too!)  Timothy can go good or bad guy- but you'd want him on YOUR side.

If you want a good deal, the Fighting Poses also have the intense facial expressions. So you can always repose the figure and keep those wonderful intense battle looks!

Timothy was a bit of a challenge for me (in Iray) to light, doing it default for you (not changing surface settings, such as specular for the oily/sweat factor. I turned the Burn Highlights down, lit him with a medium dark blue Distant Light 168/169/169 at 50.8% intensity (in case you're interested.) This wasn't using the default Environment Map like Derek, I switched over to Sun-Sky. This still needs some tweaking to get more of a variation and work with the blending, but this would be a fun starting point for you if you're a complete newbie to IRAY:

ISO was 74.61 to let in less light, exposure value 13.19, shutter speed 165.37, F Stop 8.69.  Using Pensacola, Florida as the location at 6PM. (funny, when I was doing this, it was 6:28pm)

BTW, if you want two images to appear side by side like that, do the first one align left with a width of 400, then when you do the next one, width 400 but align right- but be SURE you have your cursor at the very upper right corner of the first image (where you are going to paste the second) or it will drop it down and do wonky things.

So SereneNight, now you have two dudes. I think Timothy would love to be on Sarge's team! wink

Gone for while. Anyone else having Timothy, Derek, or another dude you'd like to post feel free. Family friendly as usual. (no backside thong shots.)

Going to report it, but when you get that "Image has been resized to fit" message appearing on the page by the images, it TAKES OUT the blank_window and you have to hit the back button. It's supposed to open a second window that you X out of so you don't leave your original location.

Doing a test upping the Render Quality number and using the same amount of time. Let's see if there are any differences. This will take about an hour, check back smiley

EDIT: At 4.51 Render Quality, at 85%, one hour 12 minutes. I will check the next one and stop it at 85% but also note the percentage at one hour 12 minutes. I'll post both in about an hour.

Okay, need some extra eyes on this. You will be able to tell the 4.51 Render Quality and the 1.0 Render Quality by the image name. I see a bit of a difference on his eyebrow which appears on our right as we look at it (in the 4.51 image), and also on the skin to the right of it. The 4.51 actually goes in to a bit of a grid of squares, but it's really hard to see. So, what I did was apply sharpen to both images, which will magnify the differences. Download any or all of these and see if you can spot any differences? The 4.51 was 1 hour 12 minutes, but the 1.0 was DONE in 34 minutes.

I would overall say that the 1.0 which renders SO much faster appears to be about the same quality as one FOUR TIMES that amount, which also takes a lot longer. (Probably 3 times as long, if I had let it go to 100% instead of 85%) The 1.0 is on your left, the 4.51 Render Quality is on your right.

I took the two images into GIMP, one as a layer over the other, and used the "difference" mode to look at them. Very, very faint differences only visible if zoomed way in or if I cranked up contrast. I'd say they are virtually indistinguishable.

Thanks SereneNight and RGcincy- what a cool feature for GIMP!

So definitely leaving the Render Quality on 1 for Iray is the way to go.

I am rendering an image that is taking awhile to get "right" but this will be posted here:

Valeria has more noticeable "pores" in her cheek IMO, (which is fine, realistic looking) but finding the light setup I want is a bit tricky. I've got it going now, went back to a map instead of Sun/Sky. Image posted here will be awhile. Edit: This was only 44% done but it was taking hours so this is IT.

FWSA Bonnie HD For Victoria 7              Flashy Hair For Genesis 3 Female(s)

Take a peek at Bonnie while she is at 51% off (for PC Members?) and use your monthly coupon to pick her up for $2.80, an unbelievable deal. When I rendered her, I thought, "Would make a great kid!" Flashy Hair is also a Daz Original so you could get that for a discount if you don't go for Bonnie. I really like Bonnie- her eyebrows seemed more penciled in the promos than what I like, but when I rendered her, they're fine. Meet Bonnie!

@Novica - has something happened to your signature (I can't see it at all but I know it used to have several useful links) - I wondered if I'd accidentally set sigs to non-display but I haven't and I can see some people's sigs - e.g. Tjohn's near the top of this page?

I don't see a sig file for Novica either. I haven't tweaked with any settings.
