I had asked the moderator richard to combine my animation thread and my art thread together to make it one thread and he also changed the title of my thread for me so everyone knows that my threads are now combined.
if you have more than one thread you can ask the moderators to merge them for you into one location. which has proven to be much better for me to have all my threads and information in one forum thread instead of having a number of them to have to search for.
so for others that had the same problem as I did that had a number of forum threads . it maybe best to ask them to be combined together which Richard was very helpful in doing for me. so I am sure they would do the same for others
AHA!!!!! I had several windows open and I have one of the old forum on the 6th at 9pm ish. I know EXACTLY how many posts I had- 9,134. They dropped 327 (I'm guessing I've made 15 posts, maybe more, since the switch.) EDIT: wow, that was three days ago, they dropped more than 327. I made at least 30-50 posts. So more like 380 dropped.) I really hate to close that forum window...
Am definitely taking a screenshot to remember the good old days when I could see...let me look...TEN threads listed in the screen without scrolling. Oh, I can't help it...for nostalgia sake, here's your last look at the old forum and what we're giving up for this "improved" forum. (The old forum, we could see more threads on the page, ability to click a PM button easily...) LOL, think how different the topics would have been had we known the forums were about to go poof and be replaced with what we have now. So, here's an old friend...
(When I dragged it into this window, then I clicked the image thing above, I had to manually insert the first value and the other autofilled. But these images were really blurry so no-go.)
Novica use the Attachment as a link in the text box , from there you can rezie the image to anything you want and it still will remain clear. and then when someone clicks onthe image it will enlarge to the orignal size
such as below this graphic is taken from my new Karate girl animation story board) 800 x450 original size 1920 x 1080
Man, I need some caffeine. How do I do the attachment as a link? Do I attach a file first, then...? I tried dragging an image into the text box and now it's giving me that round circle with a line through it "no go." Sorry to be duh.
I hope this helps
<first up load your image in your comment and click post comment
< then click the image you uploaded to view the full size copy the url of the enlarged image you attached
< then click edit your post and drag yuour image to the text box and replace the blurry one with the url of the orginal one. when you do that the imgae editor will give you options for size and tab location and it will replace the blurry one with the orginal attachment.
< Next make sure to click the url tab on the image editor and also add the url to the url section tab and click the option Blank so when a viewer clicks your image it opens the orginal one in a new window. as it is suppose to be viewed.
This is a old HTML coders trick that we use to use back before html 5 allowed us to use anything other than jpgs or gifs in uploads on Pearl once you have does this a couple of times its does not take but a second to do this for your images .. I would use this as a tempory fix until the forums have been finshed setting up and daz turns on more of the features..
I'm sorry if there was any confusion
Man, wish they'd just left attachments work as they used to. I never had trouble viewing images on my iPhone. =-)
Let me do it again (I managed to do one in the forum post) but I think I might have done it differently. Let me try another one and post step by step. I know one thing I did was go to the image square instead of the link (chain looking thingie, above.) Let me see if I am doing it the same way you did. Thanks for the help- I'll try it your way too.
Okay, here's what I'm doing. Hope it works, again- trying to remember what I did.
Making the post. Attach A File. Save the post.
Will then click on the attachment to get the URL of the larger version. (Will edit this after I do this, so check back.)
Okay, then go up to Image (the square postcard with mountains and a sun)
In Image Info Tab, paste the URL. Set your dimensions. As Ivy mentioned, 600 is max for mobile devices. (SHOWN IS 600 HEIGHT. It's a good size.) You change one setting, the other will automatically resize. I also selected align Right.
In Link tab (while the popup is still open, you don't go anywhere else, you are still in Image) I repasted the URL again.
That's it.
Can you check this last one and see how it looks to you?
you did great :) that is exactly how its suppose to work :)
Jeff (Jaderail) 23rd of this month it will be a year. Orbituary
It was a painful loss when he passed.
Thanks Chohole :)
Had to go to page 19 to find it, but start with the second post and be ready to laugh at the Spyro and Jaderail duel.
http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/809/jaderail-is-at-it-again/p19
I love Jeff's first response: It's so ON now Little Viper. Hint, this IS gonna hurt.
Another goody from the Commons thread- if you want to select a post (I didn't know how when I posted about Spyro and Jaderail, so sent you to the page and said scroll down to the post) is the TIME under the avatar. (FOR HEAVEN'S SAKE.) So if you want to save/bookmark/direct someone to a post, click the time.
Oh so NOT intuituve. Someone must have stumbled upon that totally by accident.
LOL- Thank Kerya!
They need to permanently adjust the thumbnail size of the attachments to be larger. I'd also really like it if they remove the quote button to some place like the top which makes more sense. Also, do something about the lines which separate each comment- it is very confusion to read comments visually now. =-)
Are you folks getting each and every comment in your email, but only a link to the conversation and not any of the post? That's supposed to be an improvement HOW?
Totally agree about that line for the quote. For those of you who haven't been brave enough to post with this newfangled forum, if you hit quote, you'll see a red line (if I recall with an arrow) and you need to click somewhere below that.
Don't forget to get your gift card discounts from your Summer savings punches before you buy things. Get the gift card with the discount, then use it to buy. I almost keep forgetting! I really like the Summer Haze outfit. Family friendly, yippeee. In the cart.
Yes, so I disabled email notification entirely. I was very sad to do so, but it is worse than worthless to me the way it is currently implemented. I'm sure I am missing a lot of replies now, because I can't readily understand the forum notification methods. It tells me now many notifications I have, but when I click on it, there are gobs of old notifications, too. Plus, just like the email, I get notified over and over for each subscribed thread, even though I haven't visited it in a while. I'm hoping things improve, but I'm glad that at least the old posts are sorta accessible with the text substitution trick.
Notifications should now be sent only once until you visit the thread again, the way they were on the old forum.
Except they are not they way they were on the old forum. We used to get a copy of the comment, now all we get are broken links. I think I will be cancelling my subscriptions because these notifications are effectively junk mail like this. They are no use at all.
And heads up, over in that Commons thread- someone posted images are disappearing now in the old threads. Apparently they are in the first three pages or so, and the last three pages, but in-between the images are gone. The Car Lovers thread has already taken that hit apparently. I'm sure it is a temporary thing....
only for some members.
So how is it that only certain people are getting the revolving sign in issue or images disappearing? That's rather funky. One would think when the forum got initiated, it didn't have the ability to pick and choose how it would function. My head hurts lol. Btw, kudos to the mods for keeping up with all this. We all know it hasn't been easy for you, most of all, trying to keep with all the questions.
<~~ has wait and see attitude,
won't do any good to hiss and moan about it anyways I reckon
I must be among those to whom Chohole refers. All your wonderful images are simply broken links; not something I enjoy on an ART forum! Even clicking on the placeholder gives me a 404 error.
Do I need a post count > 1,000 to play? Is it that I'm classified as "new" (despite lurking here since 2006).
"DAZ3D Forums (WIP)"
Hi Etrigan, don't think we've "met." Welcome to the thread.
That is an interesting theory about the post count affecting the ability to see images, but if I recall, a couple of the other people who were having that problem had quite a few posts. I can't say for sure. Can you see any of the images at all- is it fine the first three pages of whatever thread you're looking at? (Is it this one? I have five previous ones)
It may take time, as I suspect that stuff is just files, and there is allot of files to copy over. And no, post count has nothing to do with it. A few days back, I noticed missing pics on the first page of my thread, and the one I clicked on gave a 404. I assumed it was all still in 'Transition' from the old 'Whatever'.
And no, I am not all 'happy' about everything new here, tho That has already been voiced by others in the 'new forum thread'.

(EDIT)
Make that more then one thread still without pics, lol.
I am suggesting that we keep discussion on the image problem to one thread, http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/59030/images-are-vanishing-from-the-old-threads#latest
and people feed in some details so we can track down the common denominator.
