Have fun camping! :D You're a stronger person than I am -camping is too rough for me. lol I'd miss my coffee with milk and sugar, Youtube, Netflix, ...air conditioning! lol I'm the biggest baby.
But I know a lot of people enjoy it - so I hope you're one of them. Have fun, Sonja!
This is a Sparrowhawk taken from my back window. You can see what I mean about the neck and feet size.
It is on a kill in this image on the grass.
Click on image for full size.
I'm pretty sure she didn't make the model. lol So, critiqing the feet and head size probably doesn't help. I'm just guessing though. lol :)
I wasn't criticizing I was interested in what it was supposed to be as I have the Eagle set and update and wondered if it was from that. It just caught my eye. As a photographer I see things that are out of the norm and that attracts my attention. No offense intended.
Now THAT is my type of camping! I could totally get behind that! :D
Ok now I want hotpot. lol Better yet - a hotpot restaurant that has an internet hotspot. lol
I'm glad you're having fun!
Right? We did tent camping for a long time but it just got too uncomfortable. We spent 9 months looking for the right camper and really lucked out. We got it way under market value, it's in mint condition. The familly selling it had to upsize and needed it out of the their driveway to make room for their new one. It was one of those right places, right time things. Its not new (2004) but they took very good care of it.
And now I want a hotpot too lol!
Just a fun quickie render of Anagord's Stefania for G8. I had some store credit so I picked her up for $2 (she was on sale for $7) She has a lot of nice make up options and some beautiful skin. Also note the draping on the loincloth she is wearing....I know its hard to see against the couch but its the grey and red cloth.
That is a nice image with the cats.
I do a bit of camping too. This is still one of my favourites. Cairn Gorm above Aviemore at 4000 feet :)
She's lovely! Pretty render! How did you do the draping?
That looks lovely! An amazing view! Although, tent camping is not something I can really do anymore, and actually sleep well lol. Even with an air mattress. I would do it in a spot as lovely as that though, at least once!
Thanks! The draping was done with VWD. I waited 18 months for it go on sale at a price I could afford lol. It was worth saving my pennies for. Once I got it installed correctly, and figured out how to hold the stuff in place that needed to stay put, I have to say, its going to be an integral part of my work flow. I really really wish Daz had something that worked like this, that works with pretty much anything. I collided the cloth with both Stefania, and the couch, so the cloth actually is in the sitting position.
Your posts are like one extended wish list for me. lol VWD sounds awesome, and expensive and I'm not even going to look it up yet! lol But your render and the cloth did come out amazing, maybe I'll just take a peek at it....
Sorry? Lol. I can give you my short list of must have's if you want my opinion on what I think is the most important as far as tools go....
Sure, then I can have it in my list and pick it up if it goes sale. I got Zev's pose converters at 50% off this week so I'm currently convertine all my V4 poses to G3.
Okay. I will start the list and will add to it as I think of things. Will link when I get a chance, I'm at work today so it may be a bit slow going lol.
I'm in no hurry to spend my money. lol
Number One - If you don't get anything else - get this. Sim Tenero's Randomizer-you will really never need to buy another character unless you want to broaden the gene pool or really like the skins. Also works on other stuff. I know it works on the dragons and I believe someone mentioned hair, and clothing maybe but don't quote me on that.
The Skinbuilders from Zevo and DraagonStorm - there are two- one for genesis and G2F and one for G3F - this plus the randomizer = unlimited character building.
Pose Converters. I use all of them, if you have them, you can pick up the M4 and V4 and the Genesis poses dirt cheap and move them up through the generations for a very large pose collection for very little money.
Pose Builder(s) (Zevo)
is a nice option and I do use it as well but not as necessary as the Pose converters.
The GenX2 products, if you want to move your character morphs up through the generations, again, a great way to have a very large and diverse set of characters that will benefit from the newer generations improvements while expanding your character base.
Caymens Legacy UV's - see above - will move skins of previous characters.
Sickleyield Products - She gets a section all her own lol.
Sickle Dress Rig Genesis 2F - Invaluable for moving all of Gen2's wardrobe - read the pdf and do the transfer utility if you want to save it as a G3 clothing item instead of re doing it every time you want to use a particular outfit on Gen 3.
Hat and Hair Helper (Gen 3) and (Gen 2)
Ultra Templates for Gen3 Males
Clothing Smoothers for Gen 2 Males and Females (separate products)- if you use Gen 2
Clothing Breast Fixer (for Gen2F)
Any and all of her faces of the earth morph sets.
She also has a decrackifier, a desmucler and breast helper products that are very high on my wish list.
I also own as much of her fast products as I can get my hands on (water, smoke, etc, really easy, quick and look great special effects props) (Not a must have but.....I use them a lot lol)
Genesis 3 Male for Genesis 2 Male(s)-if you use G2 still this is a really good utility to share stuff between G3 and G2.
Poke Away 3 (Male & Female)
EDIT
Fit Control by Zevo - whichever generation you are using. I know for sure there is a genesis and genesis 2 as well as a Gen3 (female and male)
Growing Up for Gen2 and Gen 3. Suggested by Linwelly but I totally agree.
( I will add to this over the next couple of days, this was just off the top of my head)
Lights
Promo Style Catch Lights - from DivaMakeUp - not sure if I have these but she has some beautiful renders so I am going to go look and if I don't, will add them to the wish list lol.
I personally love
Kindred Arts Ghost Lights and Expansion. Probably the single most used lights ever. You can use them to light the whole render but the genius in these is they are best used to fill in all those spots that just need that little bit of extra light to really make a face pop, or a corner be lit just enough. And seriously, check out the expansion the cube- wow I don't even have words for how freaking cool that particular light prop is lol.
Boss Pro Lights - My go to portraight lights. I use others if I want special effects etc. but if I want a perfectly lit portrait, these are my go to.
Iradiance Light Probes - I have all three sets and I use all three sets. All the time.
Apocolyptic Outdoor Lights and HDRI's - I know that these are one of Novica's favorites and I agree, very useful for a nice even outdoor light.
Iray Tonal Rage - Suck at using tone mapping? This is for you. Super easy to use.
Painters Lights - another great portrait light set.
Kindred Arts Architectural Light Rig - seriously, I don't even know how to describe it but its also becoming one of my go to's for interior lighting. I used it in my Heavy Metal render and its all I used to light the space - remember, you can size it up or down. Heavy metal was a very small space and shrinking the rig worked like a charm.
Now, I have a lot more lights than these, and I use almost everything but these are the ones that I use consistantly, all the time, and then I add lights and stuff from other sets as needed. I also have stuff like the High Key Studio and Monochrome and a bunch of specialty lights with different effects but the list above are my go to, use all the time lights.
I will add links either later tonight or tomorrow I'm kind of adding things as I think of them and am in the middle of a render as well.
Special Effects
Shaders
Suggested by DivaMakUp and I can happily say I have all of these and concur that they are very good base shaders.

Mec4D's Shaders - all of them but if I had to pick one it would Volume 2 its the most diverse. The others are more heavily geared towards metals.
Thanks Sonja, that's a great list.
I think the highest of these on my list right now are the morph converters. I bought the UV's to take my V4's textures to G8, so if I can get my morphs up to G3, I can convert from them to G8 myself. With wear them all and the pose converters I already have that should make my whole library useable with the latest figures. I do need to invest in a couple decent shaders though as some of the materials on stuff is looking a little dated.
Does the poke through product work on all generations? Today I was putting M4 clothing on a muscular M4 and the poke through was awful even after using the smoothing modifier.
Looks like the PokeAway prooducts are for G2 and G3 separately. There may be something similar for earlier generations, I will have to look. - Looks like there is one for Genesis but not for V4 and M4. At least not for this PA.
What kind of shaders are you lookin for? We won't talk about how many shaders I may or may not have..
I agree with deathbycanon - that's such a great list. Many of those are on my "must have" list and "best products I own" list. I really want VWD but can't afford to fork out that much at one time, unfortunately. I REALLY hope that Daz Studio gets it's own dynamic plug-in or dynamic clothing and hair room in a future update. It's really needed.
I'd also like to add to the "must have" list (at least these are in my personal "must have" list):
Promo Style Catch Lights (I use those nearly every render.)
And pretty much all the shader sets in PC+:
https://www.daz3d.com/simple-fabric-iray-shaders
https://www.daz3d.com/everyday-fabric-shaders-iray
https://www.daz3d.com/homestyle-iray-shaders
https://www.daz3d.com/elegant-fabric-iray-shaders
https://www.daz3d.com/nature-shaders
I use those ALL the time, as I tend to retexture nearly every outfit, nearly every room, and clothing item so that I can Kit Bash the clothing as well as rooms and furniture sets. The fabric shaders are great and if you're a PC+ member you get each set for only $3.99 to $4.99 a set.
Great choices Diva! I have all of those as well. I will update my list with categories lol. I have certain lightsets, shader sets etc that I use all the time as well.
I finally got to use my Giant Kracken (which I totally love lol!) with PA_Philosopher's Ocean Mountains Sunset. The first one is the base render, the second one is the final image. For now anyway lol.
Once I get all my older characters transferred over to the newer generations I guess that poke through will work fine because I probably won't use them anymore on the older model.
I think I'm going to start with shaders for clothing and then work into shading buildings. lol
Divamakeup - that promo style catch lights has been on my wish list for a while. I know how to do catch lights, both by moving the lights and adding water thin to the eye, bulging the corneas in DAZ and faking it in post so I haven't picked it up yet, even though it's wish listed. There's always something else to buy!! I'm sure it would be a 100 times faster then what I'm doing now, especially when just lighting with a HDRi.
Hi Sonja!
Very nice!
How are you doing the water splashes and effects? I always have the worst time getting water to look right unless it's just laying there.
The water droplets on the water are from @Marshian 's Heavy Rain for 3Delight. Two of the smaller splashes by the tentacles are from that prop as well. The rest was done in photoshop with Ron's brushes and lots of layers. I still need a lot more practice with those brushes but I'm still happy with the way it turned out.
