DAZ is almost certainly not going to give the HD tools out to regular users because they do not want HD morphs using their technology being sold at other stores. You're probably more likely to get true soft body dynamics and fluid simulations in Studio before you get those.

As a non premier subscriber, what are my benefits from getting DS 4.23?

Almost nothing... especially if you've been using Public Build ~~

I think the big plugin problem will come when Daz Studio 5 releases and plugins may have to be recompiled against a new SDK. Those working ManFriday plugins we own, that have been removed from the store, may not be updated, and so would become unusable in DS 5.

$228 a year.  That's not possible for me.

Not sure I can justify the $120 for DAZ+ either.  I'm been getting the yearly subs for $35-$45 (and apparently overpaying at that, according to some posts I've seen here).

It is sad because I'm pretty sure that any new toys (features) developed will not be available for the base version and locked behind a paywall.

There will probably even be two tiers of new features.  The cool ones only being available for Premier and the so-so ones for DAZ+.

Or maybe DAZ+ won't get any new toys either.  Gotta have that incentive to upgrade to Premier.

Well, it was a good run. At least I finally got the boxer I've been wanting for the DAZ Dog.

Right, that'll be definitely the problem... then if I still needed to use those plugins, I would have to be a subscriber of DS 5 ~~

It’s really bad to remove existing plugins and move them into subscriptions.

However, we still have plug-ins with similar functions created by other excellent artists to choose from.

I believe most people will subscribe to Premier for better tools, but they must be different from what the existing store provides.

Subscriptions will scare away non-experts and force people to use older versions and not buy anything new. Hopefully this won't be the case with DAZ. I've just learned how to use this great software and hope it lasts for a long time.

Or stick with DS4 and save a fortune.

I use blender now why pay for a subscription when the free tool can do so much better. Now if they added the hd tools into the subscription that would be an absolute no brainer I would have used daz software more. But with being able to sculpt and add detail on the fly for renders in blender is so much easier when you learn the program. I really hope daz at least let us use the hd tools some time in our life.

Can you open Daz content in Blender? As a Linux user I'd be happy to give up Daz software (it's the only thing I have to boot into Windows for) but I thought very little Daz stuff worked in Blender unless you first combined and exported it as fixed characters and scenes (too much hassle for me).

Fortunately we have Diffeomorphic Daz Importer... yes almost 95%+ Daz Assets can be imported into Blender ~~

Then, I just realized why there was no update to official Daz Bridges... 'cause the updated versions "had to be" embedded into 4.23 + new tier of premier.

Is it really that complicated for DAZ to provide an official explanation of what the Premier version includes and what the free version includes? I'm not even asking for a video, just a simple article or FAQ. It's truly unbelievable! It seems like DAZ enjoys having forum threads with dozens of pages of people trying to guess, instead of issuing a simple statement and making it clear.

According to the blog post, it's supposed to be part of the non Premier version of Daz Studio but I can't check it myself, because the Mac version has a bug with plugins and I'll wait before installing it, wether it's installing the public release or the public beta.

Many practical new features are released for free. This is the happiest thing today. DAZ really needs to put this article on the homepage of the website.

My only concern is plugins owned will be negated by any future updates. I think I own one ManFriday product, the 'Seamstress'. Now if that went premium and no further updates got added to normal plugin and it stopped working in future updates, that kinda scenario, then I'm pissed.

This Premium could work for Daz3D if they actually really developed the software to another level. For me a better realtime renderer, nodal shader system, improved cloth/hair and other physics, and improved animation toolset would make the proposition much more appealing, rather than more cheapness from the store.

I used to purchase often from Renderosity and then they more than doubled the price of Prime, haven't spent anything there since and started buying from only Daz & Renderhub. Now Daz has done same. Spent thousands here before this. Yeah, nah... won't be doing Premier. Great way to push people to AI.

I really can't overly complain too much, this last PA sale they literally gave away stuff almost for free type prices, check out my discount on a recent purchase.

    Subtotal $4317.00

    Discount -$4117.00

    Grand Total $200.00

As for the silence from the PA, that is standard in any business negotiations for a company. When DAZ opened negotiatiions with the PA they probably started with an NDA that even discussing that DAZ is considering buy your product is confidential.

I wasn't expecting "Hey, this is on hold, because Daz is going to buy Mesh Grabber!". I was expecting any communication along the lines of, "I know this is taking longer than you all thought. I apologize, but I won't have any other news for a while. I'll update as soon as I can." instead of a complete radio silence for months.

It's DAZ. DAZ is in control, not you or I. But we do control our wallets and protecting the assets I have invested in is my top priority, which is why I stayed up all night to finish manually downloading assets and backing up downloads before any updates happen. Having bought almost 17k of current products and tons of products no longer available and knowing they are available to reinstall if something goes south turns ssd external hardrives into an insurance policy.

Good move. I wish I was in a position to order a new SSD to do the same... On the other hand, I've been incentivized by Daz to curb my spending here, so I might just save up enough this way. ;)

There is a whole page about Daz Studio Premier. It's a bit hidden though. If you click Memberships in the top navigation there is a  nice table with the difference in each membership. At the top of that table under Daz Premier there is a link to Daz Studio Premier page. On that page is both an explanation and a video that shows exactly what plugins are in the Premier version. The free and the premier version are the exact same program. It's just the extra plugins described on that page that are incorporated in the premier version.

I will wait and see how many months of Premier will they trade for 16 outstanding months of Daz+ membership. Filed a ticket, no response (it's normal for Daz heh). I take a whole bottle of salt when it comes to things offered by Daz

However, according to the DAZ Premier page, it's part of the subscription, under "enhanced export": https://www.daz3d.com/daz-premier

Would be great to have some clarity from DAZ on this what exactly is / isn't changing for export on free vs. premier.

I cannot justify $20 a month to rent plugins/software that I will never own & content I’m not interested in…I have exactly 1 G9 pro bundle. The so-called benefits just don’t equal the total cost for me.

I have been a DAZ+ member for a long time…but I think it’s time for us to part ways. I will be dropping my DAZ+ when my subscription ends (I will use up the 2 months free Premiere that will run through the end of the year before I drop it). Maybe I'll get one last discounted gift card...maybe not. I still have quite a bit of store credit yet to use.

I have more than enough content to last me a lifetime...seems now is a good time to discover just what I have. Who knows, maybe I’ll join up for a month or two…probably during the PA sale…pick up whatever bargains/wishlist items I can find & then go away until the next year's PA sale (maybe I can see how Santa feels...just make one yearly journey).

In the end, it’s DAZ & all the PAs that lose out…at least from me as there will be a lot less impulse buying. Between losing out on Mesh Grabber 4 & this whole subscription fiasco, it’s left a really bad impression & it's time for me to let my money do the talking.

So thank you, DAZ, for finally giving me a kick in the backside & pushing me to get my spending under control. I'm kind of curious & excited to see what I can do with the money I'll be saving.

I think you're right Elor ! And after checking the version / functions of the Daz to xxx Bridges, there seemd to be nothing changed ! angry

Actually, I probably would pay for it. But not until there's a clear answer about the upgrade path. Maybe I'm the record holder with 18 months left on Daz+ (?) but I'm sure plenty of people have a long period.

And can someone point me at the signup page? It seems broken! Thanks!

Not to brag, but my Daz+ renewal date is (was) 4-12-2029

OK, that must surely be the record!

    Beats mine!  lol

LOL, way to lock in costs. I, managed to pay off the old debt I ran up on DAZ.

  • i would only subscribe to Premier if they drop the price a bit. $18 USD is a lot. plus i would more likely pay a perpetual license over just renting stuff.

My mind is boggled as to how badly this rollout of Premiere was borked. Dropped as an overnight bombshell with no attempt at all to ease people into it.

I agree. It feels like something forced them to drop it earlier than expected. At least I hope that was the case and that this wasn't the planned release strategy. I can only find two, 2 min videos and and a Livestream from a random user about the new product on YouTube and we are probably 30 hours into the launch. I'm trying to give them the benefit of doubt because I don't know what's happening behind the scenes, but this is a significant upgrade with a pricing change so you would think they would have a lot of info coming out from them and their affiliates. Pretty weird and confusing in my opinion.

You appear to be a + member still, there is an issue with the reporting on the account page that has confused a lot of people.
