So far, the only DAZ Studio issues I've read regarding Ventura is that drag and drop into the scene doesn't work.
That's the only issue I'm having too, and I miss it, but otherwise it's working really good.
I think there's a way to get a small, alternate viewport that will show the iRay lights, as a means to adjusting the lights. How does one call up that viewport?
Window - Panes - Aux Viewport
@Platnumk: Thanks a million.
Hello,
I am trying to download the new Daz3d Version 4.21 in the install managerm but everytime I try to do this, it just says the download failed. I am farily new to this program. Anyone have any ideas as to why the download won't go through?
2 months away and still same issues with daz on a mac
64gb ram
1TB SSD and just signing into the main window that opens up just shows the spinner and hangs the whole thing
why is daz so buggy for mac users ??
Are you using Daz Central or DIM?
What version of Daz are you using & which version of MacOS are you running?
Ok, I'm posting a screen shot of what I'm working with. I get a lot of questions about my problem and never seem to cough up the right answer, so here you go.
I don't know if the DIM is installing Daz Studio all wrong... I don't know... I've pondered this for days... The technician apparently has no clue, otherwise he'd be able to help by now...
Daz Studio Glitches at the drop of a hat, Simply put.
THERE IS SOMETHING VERY MESSED UP WITH HOW DAZ STUDIO IS ACCESSING FILES FROM THE LIBRARY AND IT NEEDS TO BE FIXED!
Am I the only person having this problem?
I need help with this, PLEASE!
Hi;
I'm not the best person to help here as my understanding of some of the deeper workings of this stuff limited, but it looks like your installation settings might be a little off. The only time I remember getting something like what you're showing is when I accidentally installed some items using DAZ Connect where I normally only use DIM. I got similar results to you when I attempted to slect them, but I was able to find them in "Lost and Found or by changing my library settings in DAZ Studio to select "DAZ Connect".
If you have a moment, where you have selected "Figures" for your charactes, could you open up the "Lost and Found" above it and see if your character is there?
For what it's worth, DIM installs almost all of my character under "People", below the "Figures" submenu you have selected. You might go down to "People" and see what's there as well.
Let me know if that helps.
If that doesn't help at all, hopefully someone more knowledgable will wander in and offer assistance.

Actually, I installed ALL the products through DIM. It's the only way I can. I'm running MAC, not windows.
Can you show me the exact settings I need to set up in DIM?
The Genesis figures are not in 'people'. they never were when I was running on windows either.
You can install via DIM or DAZ Connect whether you're on the Mac or Windows. I'm also running on MacOS.
Here's my DIM settings for both Basic and Advanced (I've cleared the Port setting in Advanced so as not to confuse). Let me know if this helps at all, and let me know if you tried checking in either of the two places I mentioned earlier.

Not sure if this will help, but here's my Content Settings as well.

Ok, I've taken some screen shots to help get a better idea of what's going on.
Ok, this is what I'm working with here, I have no idea what any of this means, or why it would be different from yours.
The folders you haver under Daz Connect are not suppose to be there, They should be under you Daz 3D Library.
Looks like DIM is installing files into the wrong folder, Can you post a screenshot of your DIM Install Paths.
Oh hell, can somebody just meet me on skype and walk me through this?
This is frustrating!
From what it looks like to me, DIM isn't installing Daz Studio right. I'VE BEEN SAYING THIS ALL ALONG!!!
This is why I'd like to get away from using DIM if possible!
I can be reached on skype at:

The paths are the defaults, I don;'t think those are the issue. You are working with Daz Studio online (see the Work offline button at top-right of the Smart Content pane) so if you have ever double-clicked a product that was not isntalled Daz Studio will install it through Connect - check the product, not file, thumbnails: if they have a triangle in a circle at top-right of a coloured thumbnail then it is using the Install manager isntallation, a colourd thumbnail withotu the circled triangle icon at top-right has been installed through Connect.
One potential issue for a Mac user is if the drive with your content is set to be case sensitive in file and folder names, especially when using Connect installations as the files always get lower-case names.
Okay, so how would I remedy the case issue?
I'm going to assume that you're using you're internal iMac SSD and that you didn't reformat it, so it shouldn't be case sensitive, but to double-check, you can run your Disk Utility (In your Utilities folder, you can access that from the "Go" menu in the Finder) and have it show you the drive's settings; yours should look something like the attached image. If it *is* case sensitive, the only way to change that is by reformatting (to the best of my knowledge) but I think that should be a last resort.

Alright, the ONLY way I've been able to install ANYTHING is through DIM. I have NO idea what this connect thing is. and as far as the Mac casing issue goes, wouldn't that affect EVERYTHING I install. It seems that if this was the case, either Everything would work, -OR- Nothing would work.
I don't know, I'm seriously beginning to lose hope. Nobody has any real answers, and I can't get anybody to Face Time or Skype with me in order to work with me on it in real time.
I guess I'm screwed.
Alright, this is what I've got
Excellent, so that eliminates case sensitivity as a problem. Case sensitivity wouldn't affect everything, just those things whose filenames don't match the case of what they're looking for, but we don't have to worry about that.
Hopefully someone with more expertise will step in to help, but it being Christmas some of the Mac "A" team is off celebrating. Hang in there.
As I asked earlier, I would like to know that if you select the DAZ Connect library you can find and load the files you're having trouble with. As mentioned, the only time I had an issue similar to yours is when I accidentally installed a few characters by using DAZ Connect (as Richard pointed out, if the character itself wasn't installed, it can be installed by double-clicking on it from the DAZ Connect library; if you check there and double-clicking the item *does* download and install the character and loads it into DAZ Studio, it will tell us that this is the problem, and then we can expalin how best to fix it).
I know this is incredibly frustrating, but really, you're almost there. The fact that you have DAZ Studio up and running shows you're doing things correctly, and I strongly suggest that it's just how you have your DIM preferences set up. If I'm right, you're almost there.

in the products library, I do notice only the products with the circle/upsidedown triangle are the only things that load. This includes Genesis 8 and 8.1 essentials, and Genesis 9 essentials. Nothing else loads because as you pointed out, they don't have that symbol in the corner.
If it was the DIM settings wouldn't EVERYTHING install one way -OR- the other? Instead of a mixed bag? The fact that I'm getting mixed installations makes me wonder if this isn't something to do with individual products.
Ok, Lets see if Daz Connect is affecting anything
1. Start Daz and make sure you are working Offline by click on "Work Offline" (You only need to be "Online" in Daz if you are using Daz Connect) then shut Daz back down again
2. Locate the "Daz Connect" folder and re-name it, Create an Empty Folder in it's place using the Original Name
3. Start DIM and Un-Install the products you are having problems with then allow DIM to Re-Download & Install Them
4. Close DIM and start DAZ (Make sure you DO NOT go Online within Daz Studio)
5. Check to see if you are still having the same issue
Renaming the folder won't help - as long as the database shows the files as installed through Connect DS will try to load those, not the ones placed by DIM. In the Content Library go to Daz Studio Formats>Daz Connect - anything that shows here is down as having been isntalled through Daz Connect (from within Daz Studio). Right-click on a file>Show Asset In>Products. That will move you down to the Products list, you can now right-click on the product cotnainer (the folder with the name in the upper portion of the pane) and select Uninstall to clear the files from the Daz Connect location and remove the installation from the database. If the irem won't shwo as installed after that then try reinstalling through DIM - it may be that something went wrong (e.g. if you close daz Studio and immediately start DIM then it can happen that the database is closed and as a result the stuff you install won't be entered).
