    Carola,

This contest only requires that you provide links to any products that were used for the character (morphs, skin texture, hair, clothing, etc.). There is no need to link to any other products you used in your scene. If you used a product for your character that is no longer available in the store, you can link to its online readme. If there's a product that you just can't find a link to, it might be worth asking in the thread, as someone might recognize it.

LOL I had kinda missunderstood the rules than *blushes' I kinda read it as that all the things, even those we used for making the "promo" scenes needed to be linked too. Ah well.. thanks for clearing that up for me... certianly made my notes easier *still blushing for missunderstanding things so badly*

As I am working on another render for Aldrak, I will see if I can complete that one before posting in the entry thread *smiles* Thanks for putting up with me and my strange interception with rules.... *sheepish look*

    *hugs all*

Edit (after the upload to Entry thread)

It is satisfying yet feels strangely odd to finally upload Aldrak to the Entry thread. I just hope I managed to get everything right *laughs*

I have another question: my third image is 2,41 MB, so it exceeds forum limits. How can I post it? I can upload it to my MediaFire account (you need a link to vie the contents), but I need a permission.

If you are using photoshop, you might be able to compress the file so it's smaller... and is it a png or a jpg? In photoshop, you can save it as quality 8 or 9 without seeing a difference from best quality (12) , this tend to make the files a LOT smaller. If it is a jpg you press the "Save" or "Save as" (if you wnat to change the name) it will ask what quality you want to use. If it is a png, you need to use "Save as" to save it as jpg, no idea if it works the same way in Gimp and such though. Hope this helped a little *smile*

I began the WIP thread for my character before this contest began, and before this thread existed, but I thought if anyone wanted to see the evolution of the character here I would post the link to that thread. The final render has already been posted to the submission thread for this contest.

@Carola: no problem...thank you for putting up with my complicated rules!

@cecilia.robinson: your image does need to conform to the forum limits. I'd recommend compressing it a bit in an image editor as Carola suggested (GIMP does have a similar function). This does come at the cost of quality, but fortunately the difference is often not noticeable.

This was a concept I was working on, originally for the Monster and Creature Render Contest, but it ended up going in a different direction. (My final submission to that contest is here)

If anyone is interested in entering the Monster and Creature contest, it runs through end-of-day Monday. If you dialed up a monster for this contest, you can use it in a render for that contest too (you'll just need to render a new scene with it).

Okay, I converted the image to JPG and now it ought to be alright. I'm not sure about quality loss, but I'll submit it anyway. Sorry to post two posts in a row in the entry thread, but since the rules state clearly that all images in the same post are going to be judged as a single entry, I just had to. So Molly goes right after Mayflower.

I was actually going to aim for a toon character, but ended up not quite going that route.

This is Spindling. She also uses body and body part scaling which I'll list on the entry.

I have to say, I absolutely love the improved morph brush in Poser Pro 2014 for helping to fit clothing to differently shaped figures.

Satira, she's not anatomically correct, but she rather resembles an avant garde sculpture or an African figure. She really grabs your attention. Well done!

Cecilla you realize 'anatomically correct' refers to an environment specifically related to earth's conditions of gravity, atmospheric density and composition, etc... Since this is an alien, there is no 'anatomically correct.'

[Edit] Even changing scale changes what is anatomically correct on earth. a humanoid of different scale would have different build structure to make up for different relative environmental effects. Furthermore, different bone structures, muscle and organ makeup, density, mass, etc.. would all effect the overall anatomical structure.

Thank you. That is the direction I was going in, where the figure is an elongated, oddly proportioned humanoid.

Gedd, I think it's obvious we refer to Earth's reality, since we don't know the background the creature comes from. I wish that it's going to be covered in posts to follow, at least in the final render. I try to include some basic information on what the situation may look like. I'd love to hear your stories of your characters, I bet they're interesting :).

While the proportions are "different" than human proportions, given that this is an extraterrestrial, the basic muscular and skeletal anatomy is correct. Of course, if we really want to get nit-picky, it really isn't "anatomically correct" because, if it were, it would break the TOS of this site, if you know what I mean. =D

The poor dear shall never be able to procreate.

Of course ... under her clothing she could very well be ... TOSable.

Scott, you dangerous dangerous man.. look what you have gotten me to do *smiles teasingly* I can't help myself anymore, everytime I put out a base character, regardless if it is a genesis or a M4 or D5, I just can't stop myself from working those dials... and more often than not I end up having to fun to see what happens so I forgot to do the render I planned to make *laughs*

Anyhow, played with D5, Sean skin (only the skin, not the body/face), Asian and Native American face morphs, a touch of Jepe's Kenny face, ZevO's shapeshifter morphs, V4/M4 for genesis plus the basic ones that came with Daz/Genesis. He is stil la work in progress, his body certainly need more work as it doesn't seem to be proportioned to the head right now *frowns*. Either way, he may be an entry if I finish him in time.. if not I just wanted to show him and see what you people think *smiles*

On another note, I have a question... How do I make Aldrak, and Kielan when he is finished, into a slider? I would like to have them as sliders in case I want to use part of them into another figure (well, their shape I assume, since skin and such don't come with the sliders *smiles)

Kielan raw renders, only postwork is the collage which is made in photoshop. Oh and there is no lighting what so ever in these renders so far.. as I said, very much a WIP *laughs*

No offence taken, I just wanted to clarify I referred to Earth's gravity and so on. I'm amazed by how imaginative the entries you all submit are. My faerie is not a real creature either, so I wrote a few lines mentioning it just to be sure. Carola, I'd love to learn how to make fine dials too. And your guy is very cool, a little bit The Gorillaz-style.

Are you by chance aiming for Zachary Quinto? http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0704270/?ref_=tt_cl_t10
If you are, you're on the right track as that's who I thought of immediately when I saw your render. =)

Heh, I actually wasn't aiming for anyone truth to be told. Just started to play around with the dials and than I couldn't stop.. and the idea of Kielan came to life *laughs* I also must admit I actually never heard of that guy before *smiles warmly* so thanks for pointing me in the direction of a nice looking, without looking abnormal, guy. Has to check out what he has acted in *smiles*

Not sure if I will try to turn Kielan into Zachary or if I just keep playing like I did when I started, will be looking around a bit more on Zach and think about it *grins*

I debated about this character, and decided I'd rather fix her problem areas (shoulders, thigh, elbow) with the morph brush than enter her. So, here is the raw image pre Postwork and additional untextured views.

Iseabail's robe is created in MD2, and her hair is created in the hair room. Since she's is a bit on the older side, I deliberately went with a smaller hair count so her scalp can be seen through the clumps of hair.

This is a slight remake of my Gypsy Rose character that was originally created in 2011. Um ... I can also see I didn't quite turn her enough (the robe is only belted at the waist), and it's a bit on the cold side in that stone room. Mind you ... her beloved husband of half a century rather loves her in that robe ... and especially, out of it.

I've done some work on my toon kid's face (added Thorne's Head Morph Resource Kits 1, 2, and 3 to the mix), and I think I've got the scene for my final render set up. Just about the only thing I don't have is a name for her - names have never come easily to me.

@Carola O: I see my devious plan is working splendidly! Nice job with Kielan. To answer your question on how to make a slider, you can find some helpful information on that in this thread: http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/10762/

@Satira Capriccio: Your latest creation (like the others) has a lot of personality! The render of her in the robe is quite lovely.

@Murgatroyd: I like the names Miriam and Monica (maybe Moni for short?) that others suggested. Other possibilities: Naomi, Lola, Molly, Cora, Meg. Something about her makes me think "M" and/or "O."

I've updated the first post to indicate that DAZ 3D will be providing prizes in the amount of:

$10 to each of the four category winners
an additional $10 to the winner of the public vote.

My understanding is that this will be issued in the form of store credit.

    Thank you both!

The robe took a day to create. It's really rather simple (and obviously, dynamic). I wish I could figure out how to model in programs like Silo, but I really can't seem to wrap my head around it. Maybe one day it will click.

Meanwhile, Marvelous Designer 2 is much easier for me to use ... possibly because I have a lot of experience sewing my own clothing.

Satira, the robe is worth publishing. The morph is engaging too, I think it's not easy to dial a retired person (I wonder if she has already retired from nasty magic! :P).

Murgatroyd, your character is adorable. The skin is lovely! If you need names, why don't you try free name generators that roleplayers use? I'm attaching two links: http://www.angelfire.com/tx/afira/fantasyffull.html and http://www.roleplayingtips.com/readissue.php?number=330. Hope it helps.

    Thanks.

Oh ... she is still very active, especially with the healing magics. Nasty magics never really attracted her, though she's more than capable of turning an enemy into cinder. Most think she's rather harmless, and she's more than happy to encourage the misconception that she's no more than an old crone dabbling in herbal remedies.
