I'm not sure what you mean about her calves and thighs. Here is a comparison with V4 and S4 in a modified T pose (I lowered their arms so they could stand close together). She has rather thick/muscular thighs than the default. (Due to the Barbarian / Wiry muscle settings, which also adjusts the Morphs++ BodyBuilder. I also added the Morphs++ PearFigure which affects the hips and thighs.
Her thighs are massive, but I'm talking about something different. I mean the difference in thickness is recognizable. When you see this photograph, the area around the model's knees is only slightly thinner than her calves and thighs. This makes the bones stable enough to make you stand, not to mention running. When early hominids started to move from trees to savannahs, this type of joint developed. If the space I mark red on the quick sketch I made (see below) is too big, the joints will be too fragile to hold you up.
Of course that assumes gravity as on earth and bone structures similar to hominid.
Gedd, I'm very happy to hear somebody finds this short information helpful. I experience that fact when I sculpt figures in real life. If their knees are not realistically-built, they simply start to sit down on their own :).
That brings up a good point. It might be helpful to start a new thread for custom dialed characters that don't have rules associated as is the case with something like a contest, and have that stickied if possible. Unlike contests, contributions to the community should have as little rules as possible/necessary to encourage people to share. The discussion around contest entries vs contributions is fundamentally different also.
I think the contest idea was great, but it would be nice to see it evolve into an ongoing thing, perhaps the 'Original Genesis Fan Club.' :)
I'm definitely voting for that club. That would be great. In fact, this contest encouraged me to truly use the full potential of morphs I painstakingly gathered, but never used before. I want to share my creations with the others once I've got enough skills. Of course, the rules must be followed, but I think it'd be enough not to have the character redistributed and asked if used on the Internet (DA, let's say) and in commercial renders. I share stock images on my own and I'm happy to see somebody finds use for them, but I still ask for a notification to see what's actually happening with them. It's not a lot to ask, especially as I don't ask for any fees though many people do, don't you think?
As for Molly, I'm slowly finishing the background. I made up a short story about her as a stepcousin of Aiko visiting her during the holidays. When I finish, I need to ask stock providers for their permissions and then I can upload it. And I'm planning a surprise for that photomanipulation, oh yeah :D...
By the way, would it be possible to donate a morph for Genesis to this contest and still participate in it?
Original Genesis Fan Club? I could get on board with that. (smile) I've got nothing against the new girl (in fact I bought the V6 Pro Bundle on day one, and I must admit, she does look somewhat more lifelike than the original Genesis ladies...) but I definitely prefer the versatility and universality of the original Genesis figure. I'll be using both of them, but probably Genesis more often for quite a while.
We can start a new thread after the contest is over, but for the time being you're welcome to share any non-entries here in the WIP thread.
Since others are sharing their own guidelines on use of their custom characters, here are mine: feel free to use my formulas for any purpose (except for custom character contests like this one). I'd appreciate it if you credit me if/when you use them.
Surprised no one has asked yet: yes, you can enter a Genesis 2 character in the contest, if you like.
Cecilia, not sure what you mean by donating a morph...?

* Say you want to make a specific type of change to your character (for example, widening the nose), and you've got more than one morph that will do the job. Sometimes I've found that two morphs at half-strength work better than one morph at full strength. Dialing a morph all the way to 1.00 (or 100%)--or beyond--can sometimes cause some unattractive distortion. Using more than one morph to achieve the effect can sometimes soften this, as each morph is affecting the mesh in a slightly different way. This doesn't always hold true, but it's been my general experience.
* If you weren't aware that it's possible to go beyond 100%, here's how to do it: on the Parameters or Shaping tab, next to the morph slider, you'll see a little gear. Click it, choose Parameters Settings, and uncheck the box for Use Limits. Now you can dial the morph up as high (or low) as you'd like. Results aren't always pretty, but it's a powerful technique, especially when you're going for extreme or unusual characters.

Cecilia, not sure what you mean by donating a morph...?
I see we think the same way about Gen2 :). When it comes to my question, I thought about donating a custom morph I made not for the competition. It's my first DAZ contest, so I'm totally new to typical rules of donating, but I can imagine that every person who participates is going to get a link to download a morph. It has never been available anywhere before, neither for purchase nor as a freebie. I saved it as Scene Subset, but I can also save it as Character/Shaping Preset (not sure which would be better). However, I can't export things to folders like most content is shipped. Would it be a problem? Please explain to me how it's usually dealt with, let's say when there's a PA item involved. Is it somehow added to receiver's library or sent via e-mail...? I have no ideas.

Hmm...that's a good question. I'm not a modeler and work with morphs that others created, rather than making my own, so I can't speak from personal experience. Hellboy has a good tutorial on creating Genesis content...mainly about clothing, but sections H and I work just as well when you want to create a character morph, I believe. Includes instructions on saving it for distribution.
Another tutorial can be found here. You can follow the instructions to make morphs using the d-former function in DAZ Studio, although most professional morphs, I think, were sculpted in a modeling program (Hexagon, zBrush, Blender, etc.).
For the part about what to do after you save it for distribution, probably your best bet is to upload to sharecg.com or a similar freebie site (or host it yourself on your own website) and send us the link. I don't think there's a way to do it through DAZ, short of actually making it a product in the store (and for that, you'd need to go through this whole process...
Above all else, make sure what you are distributing is your own work, or you can get into copyright issues.
No, that is out of question, I am not good enough to think of applying for PA position! :o DS is the first 3D application I laid my hands upon and I don't own Zbrush or similar programme. I created that character just like other custom-dialed figures there, by choosing different values of dials. I have it saved as scene subset, because it opens well for me. I think the part on saving figures is what I need anyway. Thanks! But can I show you the morph and, above all, do you want a little prize like this at all? It's your competition and you choose the rules and prize donors :D.
ok So my first half dragon character/morph was based on a red dragon. This one was made using my dragon head morph plus HFS, Genesis Evolution Head/Body Morphs.
Out of curiosity, where does Gold Dragon come from?
I am currently in the process of trying to make up my mind if I should or should not do another render of a scene with Aldrak, I have the two that is posted in is thread, than I have one that I made day before yesterday (not posted anywhere) ....

Btw Gold Dragon was inspired by this contest. I have had Daz since 2.5 or 3.0 but have never made a real morph all on my own. Thank you Scott for this contest.

Hmm, I'll have to try making one myself...
That whole Morph was made in DAZ4.6 using nothing but D-Formers. Something like 30-33 of them.
Scott... I have a bit of a problem. I have at the moment 1 item which I am not aware if there is a link to or not (edit - has gotten a link for this item *smiles*). However, a quite bigger issue.. is the fact that I use Lisa's flowers and plants in several of my renders I planned to put up. And since she is no longer in the store, I actually don't have any links to those anymore. Does that mean I will be disqualified if I enter with them? So I know if I need to redo all my renders or not, not to mention try to find other flowers and plants to go in there instead of Lisa's.... *frowns*

Not much I'm afraid, as the flowers I used wasn't even on that site. And all links goes back to DAZ with a 404 *sigh* Thanks for trying though, and for the link *smiles*
Guess I just have to figure out a new render and do that, since I haven't found any other flowers to replace the ones I used *sad*
Carola AFAIK the only contests that insist on specific items to flesh out the scene are the PCI ones, where you have to use that week's PC offerings, but you can use anything else that you want, as long as you have at least one of the current crop of PC items.

It won't be long before Lisa's plants will be on sale again on Hivewire. I know it doesn't help with this but I though I would give you a glimmer of hope. LOL

here is my genesis character
Rendered In 3ds max. Custom morph made in Zbrush and is Michael 4 and genesis. Texture also created by me :)
I name him "Solum" Which means alone in Latin :)
3d.a.l.i.7, that's a very nice render, and great looking texture too!
Still almost three weeks left...plenty of time for those who still would like to join in.
A few miscellaneous tips, mainly for newbies, though some of you more experienced folks may find them useful also:
* Here's a link to a mini tutorial by Zev0 about how to easily find specific morphs.

Title: Gold Half Dragon
@cecilia: Any way you wish to contribute would be welcome. : - ) And it won't affect your ability to enter the contest.
There are some logistical questions...I PM'ed you so that we don't derail the thread too much...
@Scott- If we post our formulas here in the WIP thread do we have to repost them in the Entry thread?
Out of curiosity, where does Gold Dragon come from?
I am currently in the process of trying to make up my mind if I should or should not do another render of a scene with Aldrak, I have the two that is posted in is thread, than I have one that I made day before yesterday (not posted anywhere) ....
decision, decisions... *screams hysterically*
Gold Dragon is the Genesis Head Morph I made and just recently (as of yesterday) made available on Rendo for free.

Btw Gold Dragon was inspired by this contest. I have had Daz since 2.5 or 3.0 but have never made a real morph all on my own. Thank you Scott for this contest.

Carola,
This contest only requires that you provide links to any products that were used for the character (morphs, skin texture, hair, clothing, etc.). Here's a g2f I dialed up this morning just goofing around. Not really a WIP but I thought I would share it anyway.
