Not Jane Morris, but Elizabeth Siddal (Though the both were models for and did sleep with Rosetti)
Morris is definitely the more ubiquitous Pre-Raphaelite model, but Siddal had the worlds greatest eyelids. (Rosetti would occasionally add them on to other models in his paintings)
All my lovely red hair is made with Garibaldi (its seriously the best thing ever)
My final render is much more obvious as to who I'm aping; well you know what they say about imitation...
This is really, really beautiful!
And you obviously are great at Garibaldi - it looks so good!
As a sponsor of the contest, just wanted to compliment everyone on their art- I've lurked from the beginning and am delighted at the intensity of the competition- no small feats have been put forth! Even before you metioned who was who, I could usually tell (if I knew the individual that was being portrayed.) The expressions on your figures are inspiring, and compliments to all of you who took the time to type ALL those numbers for those sliders and settings! (WOW. Your fingers must have hurt!) You have all created some wonderful, wonderful individuals!
As a special bonus for everyone who enters the contest, cecilia.robinson will be giving the character preset and the formula for the character who appears below to everyone who submits an entry.
To make full use of the character, the following products are required:
Genesis Evolution Head and Body Morphs
S4 Shape for Genesis
Stephanie 5
Genesis Creature Creator Bundle
Head Morph Resource Kits 1 and 2
Those who enter the contest will be contacted by PM with links to the downloadable files.
"Lisa" character and render by cecilia.robinson
Thanks, Cecilia!
Thank you, Scott, I'm honoured. I learnt so much thanks to the competition and got seriously into custom characters! All the renders we see there are truly good and I wish good luck to you all.
A lot of really clever creatures and great characters in the mix from everyone. Thanks Cecilia for the sweet gesture of the donated character for participants. :)
I have loved every moment of this contest to be honest. And in the end I made three personalized characters, even if one of them weren't Supposed to be one.. he just did either way (Inferno, my fire demon). I am actually really happy with Aldrak and Kielan and I have palns to morph more hcaracters, males and females ... and there might be another demon or such thrown in as well *smiles*
I have loved every moment of this contest to be honest.
I feel the same way. My one disappointment is that there weren't more entries. Genesis is such a fantastic platform for character creation, but I suspect a lot of folks have yet to figure out how versatile it really is, or how quickly even an extremely complex character can be created with nothing but morph packs and dial spins... no Z-brush or hexagon required. Then again, I really didn't realize how powerful shaders were until Mareah started running her contest, so hopefully we'll see a lot more participation next year. (Especially, if we could just get a Genesis Quadruped...)

Thank for you for the link to the quadruped Cecilia that will come in handy, never realised how far you could push genesis until this competition:) going to have to wait for a few vendor sales to pick up a few of the more interesting ones I haven't got.
Glad you guys enjoyed the contest, and please continue to share characters in this thread, if you'd like to. :)
I'm thinking that after the results for this one come out (should be another day or two), I may start a new thread in order to continue and build on the experience...I'll keep you posted...
I would have loved to see more entries, of course, but the overall participation was higher than I'd expected going in, so I'm quite happy with it. And I do intend to run the contest (or something like it) again in the future, so that's something to look forward to.
Ooohh that sounds Awesome Scott, I look forward to see more like this *smiles happily* Heck I have even picked up the Creature Creation Bundle thingie (grabbed it when it was in fast grab) haven't played aroudn with it yet though *pouts*
Yeah, I have to say I enjoyed this, and loved seeing everything people came up with. I think I am very glad that I came to DAZ Studio when I did--I was *expecting* a model as versatile as Genesis and was not in the least disappointed!
Please join me in congratulating our contest winners!

[Added August 1, 2013] These eight winning entries were eligible for a public vote to determine the winner of the bonus prize. The vote has now concluded and the Bonus Prize goes to Saiyaness, for The Forest Folk
And the winner of Laticis's Special Prize for Best Overall Image is: Storypilot, for Clancy aka Homunculus (specifically, the render “Homunculus Grabbing Sabra”)
Laticis told me he was impressed with the scene and camera angle, and enjoyed the story behind this image.
I think everyone who submitted entries (and non-entries!) deserves congratulations for your fine work. I’ll be providing more specific feedback on each of the entries in the coming days (probably nothing too detailed, given the number of entries, but I want to say a little something about all of them). In general, I really enjoyed everyone’s unique creations!
About the judging:
I enlisted a panel of judges to help me determine the winners (and honorable mentions) of the four categories. Each judge could vote for up to three entries in each category: three points for first, two points for second, and one point for third. The votes of each judge, including myself, were weighted equally. The votes were totalled up and the winners chosen based on the overall score in each category. I had stated in the rules that no contestant would be selected as the winner of more than one category...in the end this rule wasn’t needed, as each category had different top vote-getters anyway.
Some more results I found interesting:
- Sasje and Cybersox13 both deserve congratulations for submitting four different entries that each received at least one vote.
- There were 16 different entries that received votes in the Best Portrait category, including seven that received a first-place vote (with eight judges, that means that almost everyone had a different idea of who should win this category).
- 14 entries were eligible for the New User category, and a strong majority of them received at least one vote. Including Kamion99’s winning entry in the Best Likeness category, several of the New User entries received votes in more than one category.
- The contest was highly competitive...there were two ties that had to be broken, and a couple of other entries that ended up just a vote or two short of winning a prize.
Note to the winners:
Please send me a PM with your e-mail address (the one associated with your DAZ 3D account) so that I can facilitate your prizes being awarded. The gift certificates from me, Jaderail, Laticis, and/or Novica will be sent to you after you send me your e-mail address. The store credit from DAZ 3D will probably be awarded after the public vote has closed and the winner of the bonus prize determined.
So happy for all the winners- meaning every single person who entered. Looking through all the entries, it's astounding the variety of morphs and products used. Big smiles to all of you- well done indeed!

I've been watching this thread since the start (but unfortunately didn't have enough time this year to compete due to RL events) and have been really impressed with the entries.
Hearty congratulations to all the winners and HMs, and well done to everyone else who entered.
PS: I've just voted for my favourite, a tricky choice :)
Congratulations to all the winners and participants! So many awesome entries! It was a really fun challenge so thank you to the contest creators for putting it all together!
Also, thank you very much for the Honourable Mention for the Forest Folk!! I was totally chuffed to see that this morning! Made my week!!
Are we allowed to upload our entries to DA after this? :o
This was a terrific contest, thanks again Scott for organizing it and to the sponsors. I jumped out of my seat when I saw that I had received a prize, and startled my wife a little so I had to apologize to her. It has made my week for sure.
Congratulations to all the winners, and everyone who participated, really for showing the amazing creative potential here - I saw a lot of morph combinations I want to experiment with watching this thread. Looking forward to next time, too! :)
Thank you Laticis for the special recognition. I am a great admirer of the art you make, so to receive that from you is quite a thrill for me.
A very big congratulations to all the winners...splendid job.
For everyone that entered or participated, well done...there where some very imaginative characters created.
A special mention to Storypilot. It was a great image you created, lots of fun, a great perspective in a great scene...congratulations.
I will be sending you an email to tonight when I get home to help get your prize sorted.
Also a big thank to Scott for holding a very cool comp :)

Henry VIII (not an entry)
Full details coming...this is just a preview!

Scott-L- Love your Henry VIII! He certainly looks robust and kingly!
The contest is now closed. Good luck, everyone!

Are we still allowed to post characters in this thread even if the contest is over? It's still a good place to show of a character you're proud of.
I think the answer would almost certainly be yes :)

Regarding Genesis Quadruped as you put it, Ghastly released two versions of his Handy Genesis Dog on ShareCG (http://www.sharecg.com/v/70144/gallery/21/DAZ-Studio/Ghastlys-Ghastly-Dog-Genesis-1-Morph and http://www.sharecg.com/v/70140/gallery/21/DAZ-Studio/Handy-Dog-Genesis-1-Morph), not to mention his Quadruped Genesis (http://www.sharecg.com/v/70121/gallery/21/DAZ-Studio/Ghastlys-Ghastly-Quadruped-Genesis-1-Morph). I tried it and it works like a dream. But as for the Genesis case, I strongly suggest creating something like a Really Excellent Genesis Advancement League. Now there's a trend for Gen2 stuff (I see few Genesis new products in the shop) and it can't be like this! It could be a cool place to organize competitions and share tips, especially on creating custom characters.
