Ah! That must be it. He reminded me of Leonard Nimoy but I didn't think that was right. Nice work, jerriecan!

Thanks for the kind words! Dr Smith wasn't the inspiration - I was thinking of the Master from classic Doctor Who. (See below.) Glad you like the character.

Just a reminder: the contest closes in one week, so you still have some time to finish up your projects and submit them to the entries thread.

Rules clarification: all prizewinning renders (not just the four category winners) will be eligible for the public vote to determine the winner of the bonus prize. Thanks to the generosity of my cosponsors, the contest has more prizes than I had originally planned, and I feel it just makes sense that the public vote would include all of these.

These are works in progress, continuing with a character I showed a version of a couple weeks ago.
His name is Clancy... though he prefers to be known by his nom de guerre, Homunculus.

Some backstory. My first images with him had him sitting by himself at a bar table, taking a happy swig, but for whatever reason, he inspired me, and the scenes I started to imagine showcasing him took on a life of their own. Clancy has a machine he built, which he mostly calls The Machine, although sometimes he calls it Señor (though he has no Spanish relatives or ancestors he knows of). It's basically a giant robot with a chair for a head. Clancy's a clever fellow, has had his share of poor luck, and has done what he can to compensate. Is he good or evil...? He certainly doesn't think so. He just has his own distinct point of view.

The young woman in both pictures is his generally uncooperative, sometime sidekick Sabra... whether he kidnapped her or actually rescued her from that lazy snot Dante—well that depends on who tells the story. She's not going to be an entry in the contest, Clancy talked her out of it. If I do a third picture, which I might not have time to do, it's going to be Sabra clocking Clancy in the jaw.

There's some fixes I still need to do to these pictures, but this is how they are coming along. Question: He uses a tweaked version of the Old Man Rex skin texture that has been adapted to the AoA subsurface shader. Ought I to list the material settings for that in the entry, or is it enough to say that it's that texture converted to SSS?

Impressive renders, Storypilot! No need to list the materials settings...just telling us the texture used (and shader in this case, since you manually applied one*) should be fine.

*I think a shader would qualify as one of the "products you used for your character's skin texture" and therefore should be listed. But I understand that someone else could read the rules and come to another conclusion, or simply neglect to list it. Don't think I'd disqualify someone for leaving something like that out, as long as there appears to be a good-faith effort to follow the rules.

Thanks Scott. Sounds good that's what I'll do, list AoA shader as a product along with Rex skin.

Good job, everyone, that's a pleasure to see your renders! Storypilot, it's great you made up a story for Clancy, he literally comes to life now. Scott, please try to answer my PM about that donation if you can. I'm going to try to share a dryad with you, I have her finished, but still need to write down the presets used.

Thanks to everyone who suggested names. I'm going with Monica.

I've been playing around with the newest addition to my runtime. Here's a Monica statue next to the adult shape I started her from (50% Toon Amy, 0.75 Satsuki).

[edit] And the final version is now up in the entry thread.

I agree, Carola O, go for the promo shot too :)

Murgatroyd - Monica looks super cute, and the adult version definitely seems plausible (though I'm more drawn to how sweet the child version is). There's an angle to her cheeks, chin and jaw that just looks especially good in the child one.

Here's another one of Clancy a.k.a. Homunculus. While there is very little postwork affecting the character in any of his pictures, i do have postwork compositing volumetric light rays, smoke and tweaking the color balance and things like in the final versions of the other two pictures... but not in this one. This one is meant as my example that has no postwork at all. It was an interesting challenge for me trying to get the light and color as I wanted in one raw render, trying for zero poke-through (i had a hair strand poking his goggles in both other pics that here I had to carefully move or make transparent for instance). The cloud/haze in the foreground is the cloud prop from stonemason's winter terrains.

Since I haven't shared Clancy's formula up to now, here it is:

Have been thinking off and on as to what kind of promo picture I wanted for Kielan, today I finally realised the one tht in my mind is perfect. So have been spending osme time to get that one done *smiles* Even made a closer up on it. Will post both here, so you can tell me what you think :) The one that isn't a close up is the actual promo picture, but the other was kinda cute too so felt for sharing it. The close up uses one of my photos as background, a photo taken just a few steps outside my door *grins*

After having looked at the two pic, I might end up posting them both as promo pics, the close up is a different angle, not sure though.. still have a few hours to decide before I have to post (so I post it in time and not forget *grins*)

I even ended up naming the big dog now *laughs* still have to think of a fitting name for the pup, but I have a few in mind ^^

Kielan - Don't Be Sad (actual promo picture)

Graip always knew the mood his master was in, so when Kielan drifted off into memories Graip did as any faithful friend would. He went over to his master, rested his head on the warm skin. Giving comfort and love the way only a dog can.

Even though my character Sabra, the lovely and mostly unwilling sidekick of Clancy, is not going to be an entry, I thought I'd post her formula here in case anybody wanted to have it.

She's mainly a mix of Olivia and Stephanie 5, with some Julie and Evolution Morphs & Muscularity adjustments:

    Stephanie 5 Curvy Body: 0.50
    Stephanie 5 Model Body: 0.50
    Girl Face 2: 0.49
    Julie Head: 0.50
    OliviaHead: 56.2%
    Stephanie 5 Curvy Head: 0.75
    Stephanie 5 Model Head: 0.00
    All Muscle Volume: 0.20
    Body Tone: 0.20
    Pear Figure: 0.20
    Breasts Size: 0.50

Her skin is Olivia again with Age of Armour's Subsurface Shader Base applied and materials settings tweaked.
Stalker Girl Hair, Ysatis Dress, and of course Perfect Lingerie slippers that she is losing in nearly every scene.

Here, Clancy has tracked down and returned one of her lost slippers to her, but she wasn't quite as grateful as he hoped.

EDIT: I swapped the pic for a new version, as I realized I had gotten Clancy's scale wrong relative to Sabra. Now fixed. :)

If i manage to post an image, she's a model for a 19th century artistic movement...

Not Jane Morris, but Elizabeth Siddal (Though the both were models for and did sleep with Rosetti)
Morris is definitely the more ubiquitous Pre-Raphaelite model, but Siddal had the worlds greatest eyelids. (Rosetti would occasionally add them on to other models in his paintings)

All my lovely red hair is made with Garibaldi (its seriously the best thing ever)

My final render is much more obvious as to who I'm aping; well you know what they say about imitation...

Thank you...yes, it's final. I was hoping to do another "promo-style" render of him--a full-body shot in an appropriate setting--and still plan to do it, but certainly not by tonight's deadline.
