Coupon ALERT- save $6 when you spend $30
    SAVE-6

EDIT: Only exclusion is gift cards. (at least that's what it says. So must stack) That's why I have stopped buying in the wee hours of the morning, these things tick me off. Why not launch that at the same time as the new releases????

I was stoked about the coupie.. but unless content is on sale, I don't think I will use it. Sales were so great in December, I'm not buying without an additional discount.

Victoria 4 Model Pose Construction Set
    http://www.daz3d.com/modeling-pinup/victoria-4-model-pose-construction-set

    Victoria 4- A MUST HAVE!!!
I haven't tested on other generations, but this is a goody you can't live without if you have Victoria 4.
Are you tired of poses that have a great stance but then you have to move the arm? No problem. Choose your bits and pieces with this product.

Choose collar bone movements, all kinds of hand poses- leg poses, stances, head poses-
Thought I would mention this in case you want to go for the $30.00 mark. It's REALLY cool and will save you a lot of time tweaking. Probably thousands of combinations possible.

Can't test on other generations, headed out the door to put a hood on the horse and wrap his legs. -3 real feel tonight, only 22 degrees right now real feel. (at 1:30pm in Florida. Unreal.

Feel SO bad for you other folks- but particularly the ANIMALS. Put out some bedding for any outside strays and wildlife!!!! Got old towels? Curve them into a circular bed with the edges raised like the petshop beds- possums and raccoons will curl up in them (put them UNDER bushes to protect them from frost, and on the side away from the wind.) jOff my soapbox. Bye!

I made hubby a promise not to buy anything unless it was greatly discounted- for a month or two, if I could work on my wishlist. Some of those things never went on sale or no more than 30%, so it was a good choice. Everything will go back on sale eventually that is being offered now. (And there's the March sale.)

TIP About the V4 and M4 pose sets: With just a little tweeking most of these poses work very well on G1's and G2's as well. I use these sets as start poses all the time.

I was Naught-y while trying to be good. Backed up all my directories, including my daz folder, my installers, my user data. It took hours, but I like to do it every few months to make sure I don't have to recreate the wheel, and since it is the new year, no time like the present.

Well, this time, something got tweaked, and DAZ took like 2 minutes to open after I completed back up. Not sure why.

I had to reset my database and reimport metadata. Worked like a charm, and now it takes 2 seconds to open.

Not sure what happened when I backed up the daz folder which would cause load times to be so tweaked, but lesson learned.

I have stuff I want, but not until it is on discount. For some reason, men's clothing when it is released seems highly priced compared to similar clothing for V6. Not sure why mens' clothing is so expensive, especially when it usually has fewer accessories, but I have a number of things wishlisted for purchase when on sale because it is outside of my price range at present.

Maybe the prices are higher because of the scarcity? :)

Exporting the User Data forces the CMS Database to a condensed form, thus after that your database reads faster as it has been organized for a smaller save file. That equals a faster read time as a bonus. I export USER Data every week just to be safe and keep my file in good user shape.

@Tjohn, =-) Clothing for females is plentiful, so competitive pricing probably makes a lot of sense. Plus you could probably sell more female outfits. But men's clothing there is more of niche market so perhaps it explains the higher price point. I do intend to buy most non-fantasy men's clothing for gen2 eventually. I have quite a bit already. Just can't do it all at once. The cost will wipe me out.

Right now, I'm jonesing for the police expansion to Security! I think I'll pick that one up soon. It looks fun, and I like what Sickleyield did with the Secuirty! Outfit. That was one classy piece of work. I've bought outfits almost several times as expensive with fewer morphs than Sickle put into that.

@Jaderail. That's everything. Once a week? Hmmm. I'm still wondering why copying the entire daz folder caused it to choke. Maybe I did something to the database, but I like the idea of doing a user data export once a week. That sounds good.

By the way, Do you have any drow in the snow pictures? I think the contrast would be stunning.

@No one in particular, just trying to find a good locale for Alien Plants. I'm thinking of defoliating Stonemason's heart of the forest and see how the plants thrive there. Just finished the plant extermination. Interesting how dark everything is. Hoping I can see well enough to make sure I have plants in their proper areas. Oh well, looks like fun! Whee!

I do JUST user Data once a week. But I also do weekly Content backups. Not of my content folder just the Zip files. I do a monthly of my full content folder and all DS config files. That includes the Database Folder, the DS settings files, my DIM config Files and a Export of my user data to go with the full content Backup. Oh, did I mention I'm Anal?

There are and will be Snow scenes in the story. But I've not got that far yet. Everybody wants info now... You all gotta wait and see as the story goes.

No rush. =-) I was just pontificating, since I think the bluish tones of drow skin would look great with a scene like winter terrain.

Thanks for the tips on backing up. I can see the value in that.

The Angkor Wat Temple. Imagine them in this promo image :) Or just the temple. It's an exotic location and those plants would make it pop.

One of these days I will visit Wisconsin. I can take photos of the countryside and the photos as backgrounds in my renders.

The cold is unreal, but... This place is in my bones. How couldn't it be?

    I wrote this last February...

Snow that falls in warmer temperatures is frequently cursed by those who live under it. It is wet, heavy, and backbreaking to clear from our walks and driveways. It sticks to our streets and makes our daily commutes slow and hazardous. In places where this kind of snow frequently falls, it is easy to become annoyed and frustrated when weather conditions turn our worlds upside-down.

And yet, on my way to work today, I drove through a treasure that sits nearly in my own front yard. A lagoon, tucked into the corner of a county park, is always a wonderful respite from the mundane roads and neighborhoods that populate the rest of my drive. Today, it was more than that. Today, it was a gift from God.

Unlike cold, powdery snow, snow that falls just below the freezing point sticks to every twig on every bare branch on every tree in view -- an indescribably complex web of frosted lace that highlights the infinite interconnectedness of nature. The ice on the lagoon becomes covered in a blanket of the purest, softest white, punctuated by small holes where pairs of mallards float peacefully in the frigid water. The benches and lampposts appear to have been transported from a Christmas card, and the obscuring curve in the road ahead conjures imaginings of the fantastic fairyland which must lie beyond. Above, an overcast sky of the lightest dove gray highlights the scene, making it a masterpiece in monochrome, undoubtedly painted by an immortal hand, far beyond the abilities of any creature who draws breath at the sight of it.

Today, for just an instant, I had a view of the divine. Any thoughts of past or future dissolved into nothingness in the pristine wonder of the present. God demanded attention this morning, and I must say, I didn't mind giving Him every ounce of mine.

And, incidentally, this is a color photograph. The monochrome was done by Someone with far more skill than I could ever have...

The full-size is worth looking at. There's a download link on the Right side. The intricacy and detail is breathtaking.

Absolutely stunning- very surreal. Love the crispness. Growing up in Indiana, I always loved the snowfall when it balanced perfectly on the branches (during the no-wind type of snowfalls.) When it first falls, it is so pretty. Thanks for sharing!

Having slept on this a bit, it occurred to me that this may mirror real life in a way. Men tend to have a smaller wardrobe.
I have a couple of suits, 3 dress shirts, a pair of dress shoes, a windbreaker, a heavier coat, and LOTS of casual wear. Just give me some slacks, tees, and tennis shoes and I'm good to go. The Store offers that much and more.

    @Tjohn

I have no idea. I have one men's 3d jacket which is a simple jacket (I own the pants and shirt ), which is in my wishlist but which is 14.95. That seems high to me for 1 piece.

There is some content for men reasonably priced.

But most of the outfits contain simple-looking clothing. . Daz's boxing shorts and gloves for M6 are 16.95 without PC discount. That is without textures. Which cost extra.

IDK. Seems kind of high to me. I wondered initially if it was because of the sale, people were buying these items at steep discount.

    Today’s Review is

    Alien Plants
    By Petipet

    Included other Items

    Enchanted Forest (Ground) (Stonemason)
    Dorpodon (Daz3d, DinoRaul)
    Rocky Flats (Ground) First Bastion
    Predatron DS lights (Predatron)

Wow, all I can say is the alien plants are fantastic! And look at all the fantastic variety. You get 30+ Plants , 14 plant sets (which are clumps of plants altogether for easy placement), and more than a few texture varieties for the plants. If you are a PC member this is a tremendous value at 1.99, especially since the sister set Sea Scapes is free.

Placing and posing the plants is easy. There are large tree-like plants, tiny small plants, and in-between-sized plants. All can be resized to suit your needs. If you use the alt drop method (described early in the thread)you can place them in different locations in your scene without stacking (although some adjustment will need to be made for uneven surfaces). I admit, I am overwhelmed by the level of detail here, and the coolness and utility of the plants, will really enhance sci-fi renders. Plus, I love the fact that many of these plants are tree-sized and you can make your own forest.

Whether you use a lot, or a little, you certainly can’t go wrong with adding these special plants to your runtime. I am constantly impressed with Petipet. What an amazing PA, and such a tremendous level of talent. This is a much needed item for those who want to add more variety to their alien landscapes.

These plants are a must have.

Images 1-3 rendered using the plants. This is only a small selection of what is included here. It is impossible to include them all.

For an even more interesting alien ambiance, add a alien sky background (I did this one with cloud or steam brushes), and color your lights a different shade, like the pink shade I added to the predatron ds lights here.

Are some of those new releases supposed to be 65% off? (Lazy Sunday and textures, Afternoon Trippin, Princess Ballgown, etc...Prisoner, Zyanya, etc...) PLUS you get the $6 off the $30 mark right now. Good deal on the LAMH and according to Commons thread they are updating it.

EDIT: It's 2am and I am tired- can't remember what the prices were when they released those last week.
