Yes, they're meant to be 65% off. I was doing so well as well until this month. I finally cracked and picked those up when the coupon appeared, next thing I saw a flash sale on 3du...
Thanks for the heads-up, I just used my PC voucher on an outfit. Even though the skirt's crazy short, I can mix and match it with other things.
EDIT: I think these were 50% off last week, not sure why the extra discount but I'm not complaining.
I seem to remember the prisoner outfit was 65% off before. I considered it, since it could be recolored for regular men's wear, but, I just don't need it.
I admit, not thrilled by any of those products, really, so price ultimately doesn't matter.
Ah, I probably saw the logged out price. If I hadn't had a PC voucher I probably would have passed on them, but until now I didn't even know I could use the voucher on new releases. So that was kind of nice, especially as I've got most of the older DAZ-but-NonPC items I wanted.
Some really good deals to be had now, especially combining sales with the coupon for $6 off an order of $30 or more. Check out the tutorial sale...there are lots of good ones, including the new Subsurface Basics tutorial (which looks like it will be really helpful), and the Portrait Lighting Tutorial I've mentioned previously. If you add three tutorials to your cart, they're all 50% off, plus you can put the $6 coupon on top of that.
I just picked up the Bryce Mentoring DVD which I've had my eye on for some time. If you are interested in Bryce, you get a lot of stuff--content as well as tutorials--with that product.
Yeah, sometimes it is tough to find what to spend the voucher on. One thing I've noticed is the voucher is often available the evening on the day before the end of the month. It is pretty good to use on the previous month's sale items.
Wow, just got my Silo book in the mail- it's got a cover that you just want to PET. That real silky paper that feels like baby powder. The inside pages are gorgeous too. If you have Silo and are just starting with it, the book looks totally awesome with step by steps, and images galore.
Got it from Amazon (3D Modeling in Silo- The Official Guide, by Antony Ward, David Randall.) Arrived in 3 days. Someone in Connecticut got it on the second day, so it must ship from East Coast (Amazon has warehouses all over though)
Am still looking for an answer on making a figure (that you create) poseable. Curious as to if it's bones, what "rigging" is- if that's creating the bones? Gotta dive into that or else be stuck with static stuff.
I'm no expert but have worked through a tutorial and it might be just what you want. It's the Blondie999 one, which you can currently grab at a discount: http://www.daz3d.com/rigging-original-figures-in-ds4-pro
It's a good tutorial, very comprehensive, but allow a lot of time to work through step by step. The rigging is done inside of DAZ Studio so you'd import your Silo model in first as an .obj. Once it's in Studio, the tutorial explains how you'll do all the magic that makes limbs or whatever twist, turn and bend, and also the weight-mapping so that they don't distort. (edited for clarity)
I also have Blondie's advanced tutorials but need to work through the first one another time first. Something went wrong with my gingerbread man -- my fault, not the tutorial's.

Subsurface Shader Basics Video Tutorial
There will be some that may disagree with me but for the price, why not risk it.
If you know very little or just a bit about SubSurface Scattering (SSS) in Daz Studio then this should help. I watched it earlier and in my personal opinion it is one of the best tutorials I have watched in a long time. Not just for the information contained but also for how it is delivered. AOA has done an excellent job of getting the information across by showing the effects at the same time, as he adjusts a setting you see the effect happen in front of you in a time lapse fashion so the connection becomes clear immediately.
A must buy for anyone wanting to understand the finer points of SSS in Daz Studio.
The added bonus is that most of the information can be translated into Uber Surface.
well good! I have that one by blondie and also the advanced rigging one:

Would this be duplicating most of the information or should I get that too?

I'm sorry, but for some reason that really got me laughing! "Something" must have been very interesting.

The next part of the story, which goes with this.
In case anyone is interested, those swirls are:
Ron's Angel Dust, brush 2477, 1786 px, 56% spacing, 57% opacity. I totally agree with SereneNight that it is really hard to keep up with what brush does what. So if you like this one, there's the settings :)
Enjoy- I certainly am! (evil cackle)
Good, you've got the right tutorial to get started. Yes, my poor gingerbread man had a mishap, it was the bit where you copy one side to the other. No idea what went wrong but I couldn't fix it. User error. My advice is to take the tutorial slowly, there's a lot to take in.
I have both of those advanced ones, haven't used them yet but as they are both by Blondie I'd imagine they don't duplicate information, but teach something new. You might not need rigidity, I guess it depends what you plan to create.
Cool effect in your render! Love the look on her face!
He'll be OK, he's recovering nicely. :)
Hah hah! Funny TJohn.
Stoked we finally have m5 shape for genesis 2.
Ah, tjohn! Poor lil ginger dude.
If you get all four of the legacy shape adjusters it will be $30.41 (you get 50% off.) As they're functional products I can justify the expenditure. Don't know when I will get around to using them...but good to have. I still haven't converted a single V4 to anything using the texture product and that's been out quite awhile now.
What's up with the Fast Grab? Go quick? What a joke. Doesn't change daily.
I'm home sick today. I've either got the beginnings of a cold or I'm fighting it off. Vacillated whether to stay or go, but since I don't like it when people go to work sick, I chose home.
I've sort of stopped looking at fast grab. You are sure right, its not changing much, and lots of older products that I don't need.
This month has been rather dry for me. Not a lot of stuff I need or use, and with Teen Jayden being the next release, (I may buy his stuff), looks like I'll save money until FEb.
Did pick up the drone eye.
If anyone gets the bikes, I am interested... Do they come with poses?
I need some clarification on the Gen5 shapes for Genesis...other than giving the shape what can this do without the UV maps for textures? This still doesn't give the ability to use m5 textures on Gen6 without uv's correct? I am trying to decide if this is something I would need now or wait and see if they put out the UV sets later. I think right now you can only use V5 textures on V6 if they use V4 uv mapping ?

I know this can get quite confusing, so hopefully I can clear things up a bit. Without buying anything else, Genesis 2 Male can use its own Base Male textures and Michael 5 textures as well as any clothing made for Genesis (1) which includes all the figures that are named "5" such as Michael 5, David 5, Freak 5, Victoria 5, Aiko 5, etc. With the purchase of Michael 6, you then also get to use Michael 6 textures. With the purchase of Michael 4 for Genesis 2 Males, you get the Michael 4 shape as well as the ability to use textures and clothing made for Michael 4, Hiro 4, and Freak 4.
The same applies to Genesis 2 Female. She comes with her own Base Female uvs and can use Victoria 5 textures right away, as well as fitting any clothing made for Genesis (1). Victoria 4 for Genesis 2 Females gives you the V4 shape, her texture use and her clothing use (this includes textures and clothing made for Aiko 4, Girl 4, Stephanie 4, She Freak 4, etc). Additionally, there are now several shapes for Genesis 2 Female including Gia, Girl 6, Teen Josie, and Olympia, all of which are considered "generation 6".
The Legacy Shape sets for Genesis 2 will give you all of the shapes for that generation and gender, but will not give you the ability to use their textures or clothing. For Generation 5 (Genesis), this ability is already in place for clothing via Autofit and for textures for V5 and M5. UV sets for the other generation 5 figures could be in the works given sufficient demand. Legacy shapes for generation 4 will give the shapes, but you must purchase Victoria 4 for Genesis 2 and Michael 4 for Genesis 2 to get clothing and texture capabilities. For some, having the shapes available is desirable, even if all of the associated textures are not yet usable. Again, it is something I am working on, but is laborious and can take quite a while to finish one character.
Thank you for that awesome clarification Slosh, that is exactly what I and I am sure others will need to know so they understand how these products work together .
He'll be OK, he's recovering nicely. :)
Hey, yeah, I think that's him! I wondered where he'd disappeared to.... Do you think he's forgiven me yet for the leg mishap?
Thanks Slosh! :) I'll have to re-read all that when it comes time to use it. But I bought all of it (particularly since I'm very fond of the vendor, you always communicate quickly whenever anyone has a question.)
The Farrah Hair (Fast Grab) would look good as an underseas hair I think. Very floaty.
Hey, it's warmed up down here in Florida- yippee! FIFTY NINE DEGREES AND CLIMBING! How is it where you are?
I live in California in a foggy coastal town. Temperatures are usually in the 60's daytime 40's at night . we are experiencing a drought and rain is scarce. It has been one of the most dry winters we've had.
Fifty two today and NOT below freezing tonight. I'm back folks! Renders are cooking... Think all the power stuff here is over.
EDIT: Had random Power outages just long enough to keep me from doing anything doing the HARD cold. That and Family up my butt making sure this crippled old man was safe.
Love you, too, Novica! :)
Okay, I'm loving Slosh's new M5 morphs for M6. =-) Here's one of my favorite character almost converted to Gen6. Much improved head over that: (grumble) M6 forehead. Sorry, no kitchen mits, so he's borrowing something he found in the house! BBQ Anyone?
Well, look at it this way, he can wear those mitts while baking Jindi's gingerbread man! You people are in a whacky mood today! I like it- did you use a vein displacement product or did the arms come like that? (Can't think of the product right off the top of my head) And what hair is that?
He'll be OK, he's recovering nicely. :)
This made me LOL.
It's a balmy 23 here today -- first day with above-zero temps in like a week. Yay!
And I'm currently staring at my runtime, trying to find inspiration. I have artist's block. All this stuff to play with and I've got nuthin! Someone send creative mojo my way...
Yes, those are the simple veins from the oh-so-awesome sickleyield we got as an xmas gift.
The hair is your fav, Pyrit hair.
The skin is gen4, which is partly the reason for the gloves. The skin stretches oddly on the knuckles, and although my favorite skin, there are some painted on finger creases which look bad.
