Spuddy- very nice grass experiments, I like the POV of the 2nd one.
Dave Savage - Wow great image and Bryce modeling. I like the terrain mats. Nice to see your work again
Horo - amazing render, lovely idea
mermaid - thank you.
Mermaid010: Nice terrain indeed. Sorry to hear about your crashes. I know the feeling! Forget to save often enough.
Dave Savage. Very nice modelling jobs and well rendered. The traditional terrain scene is very good. Good use of the symmetrical lattices. And very good modelling of the tower and wall.
Adbc: Strange terrain, fantastic sky, total scene quite interesting.
Horo: you’re arena view is wonderful, great shadows. Great view with the fish-eye lens as well
Spuddy: very active again! I think the fourth seaweed render has something of seaweedy texture, but too much on all the rocks. The grass looks nice, though a bit light compared to the tree leaves. And the triple stacked terrain is really wonderful!
And here is the scene that did not make it in time for the fantasy contest. The grass is very light, which I saw early, but decided to leave, because I liked it in the fantasy context. The fairy girl caught her dragon and is walking it. Girl, dragon, clothing from DAZ 3d. Vegetation includes some of JudK's special trees. Grass was modelled by myself. Sky is one of David and Horo's, if I remember correctly.
@ spuddy - I like your seaweed variations.
The grass, with flowers looks very good and the triple stacked terrain is great.
@ Dave Savage - nice to meet you too, Dave.
Very beautiful render and modeling. I like the tower.
@ Horo - I like your fish-eye images very much.
@ Hansmar - what a wonderful scene. The grass looks great. I like the idea with the girl and her dragon.
Hansmar : Excellent fantasy scene, beautiful colours, cool idea. Thank you for your comment.
Hansmar - thank you. Your fairy girl with the dragon is beautiful. I wonder what you did ("wrong") to have such a long render time. I agree that even though the grass is light it does fit this scene excellently.
Rieke77 - thank you.
Hansmar - wow an excellent render, I like the effect or wings behind the girl, very nice.
Tanks everyone
Hansmar Thanks but we are going to have to agree to differ on the amount of coverage ...if the rocks are completely submerged at high tide the coverage is about 100%
I tend to agree with you about the grass so i hand painted several texture materials to add to the ground plane as an image texture rather than using photo grass textures
Your missed entry is very eclectic in it's conception and I like the idea and bright colours
Horo yes it was a photo of seaweed covered rocks
this was my final choice just need to make it a bit more seamless
this was another option and on reflection is more seamless doesn't have the fine lines the first one has
Rieke77, adbc, Horo, mermaid010, spuddy: Thanks very much. Glad you like my missed entry.
Spuddy, I guess you are right that in some cases the rocks are fully overgrown with seaweed. However, for a picture, I prefer a bit of rock coming through. Did you change the light in your last render, compared to the one before? The penultimate one appears a bit lighter in the shadow regions, I like that better.
I remade my caught dragon render, but with different setting: no transparency on the grass, one tree moved (you may not even see that) and regular anti-aliasing instead of premium. To light the shadows, I added a distant light, with a orangy colour at low strength. I must say, this looks quite good to me too. The grass is more realistic, possibly, but it did loose the fantasy shininess. Now it was just a couple of hours render time instead of more than a week. Let there be a lesson to me (and others): if rendering is very slow: stop and change things!
@Hansmar: Beatiful and interesting image. (The bark looks very convincing)
Little blueish glacier. Tripel stacked terrain.
Electro-elvis: Thanks. Yes, Judy used a very good bark texture for that tree! I like your glacier. The texture looks very realistic Somehow, the scale of the scene is not very clear. Is this a large glacier in big mountains, or just a tiny one? I think the reflection of th sunshine (which fills quite a large part of the lake) makes me think this is a tiny glacier. One other issue is the black spot at the bottom. Of course, there can be a cavity in the glacier, but that looks very black to me. However, do not pay too much attention to my small remarks; I would not be able to do a better job myself!
Hansmar...probably a bit more haze couldn't tell you without going back in I have so many versions of this trial
trying out making a large rock outcrop
Hansmar - this second is also very nice.
Electro-Elvis - nicely done mountain scene with the glacier. I think the back mark Hansmar mentions may be a rock.
spuddy - very nice landscape and the rock outcrop looks excellent.
Hansmar - the second render is also very nice, considering the hugh difference in render time.
Electro-Elvis - nice mountain scene with the glacier.
Spuddy - both the grass experiments are very nice and the rock outcrop looks great.
Horo...Thank you very much
mermaid010...thanks a bunch
Electro-Elvis... I like the landscape ....
@ Electro-Elvis - your glacier landscape looks wonderful.
@ spuddy - I like the rock outcrop very much.
Hansmar: A week for a render?.... now THAT'S dedication!... The 2 hour version looks just as good.
ElectroElvis: Like Hansmar, I originally saw it as a small scene... but still the materials are looking good.
Spuddy: Nice rocky outcrop. Convincing shape matched by good choice of material.
A couple of this weekend's renders from me... The theme is subtlety and concentrates on lighting and reflection.
Both the Rubik's Cube and the Dice were modelled in Bryce.
spuddy : Excellent landscape, the large rock outcrop is very well done, great material.
Hansmar : your remake looks great as well.
Electro-Elvis : Lovely scene with the glacier.
Dave Savage : Awesome modeling, excellent lighting.
Dave - wow awesome modeling and render
Thanks ADBC and Mermaid.
While I had the nice lighting set up, I thought I'd set up and do this render... It's too late for the Render Competition theme, but it is my most frequent fantasy!
Dave - the Rubik cube and the dice look great and are very nice presented. I like the Bryce 8 Pro 64 Bit product presentation. I expect delivery Daz-soon.
Listening to Dave Savage, I "stretched" the arena to a long bridge, put it in a landscape and also made an anaglyph.
Horo: Did you allow Multi-Replicate to take the strain this time?
Looks good... Clever those Romans were.
Dave - sure, 24. Easy if it is straight.
Dave- the Bryce 8 Pro is awesome, like Horo waiting for delivery
Horo - both renders are superb love them especially the anaglyph
@ Dave Savage - great modeling and the Bryce 8 presentation is awesome.
@ Horo - arena to bridge, I love this a idea.
Dave Savage : Bryce 8 fantasy looks awesome.
Horo : Excellent image and anaglyph with the bridge.
The terrain is generated with Terrain Party, the village is a download from dowloadfree3D, credit to Konstantin.
Adbc - beautiful render, nice use of the terrain-party terrain, the materials and lighting go so well together.
mermaid and Rieke77 - thank you
adbc - thank you. Excellent lighting in your newest artwork.
Double stacked terrain and one in the distance under an HDRI sky and the sun.
mermaid, Horo : thank you.
Horo : outstanding render, beautiful texture and sky.
