It just seems like the possibility of ever getting a decent variety of normal clothes, particularly male clothes, is slipping further and further away.

Literally my only issue. Otherwise, I'm glad to finally see them embrace showing a full character!

They recently changed their PA name to Evenstar over at Rendo, so maybe a rebranding here as well?

IMHO this is a business decision as most of the SFW content can be created with AI by now. And NSFW is what most people are looking for, and what sells easily.

When pushing Iray, artists where forced to upgrade to Nvidia cards with the more VRAM the better. This is also needed for installing Stable Diffusion locally.

While you can create NSFW content with a local Stable Diffusion, it's not trained for the nasty things. I assume this is where renders will prevail the longest.

I played with DeviantArt's DreamUp on my mobile during vacation, and though it did not always return what I prompted for, it returned  images I could not create with Daz. In minutes, not hours.

No. Many people have wanted this for years long before AI generation got popular. Customers wanted to see the full skin tone of characters they were buying. I remember people being annoyed that Babina 8 had baked-in tan lines. Something that they would've taken into consideration, if they had known back then because nude product renders weren't allowed.

The overwhelming majority of the mature renders I've seen here aren't adult oriented unless your definition is very strict to mean "nudity = porn." The characters are either standing around doing nothing or whatever is flagging the products got confused and it's censored something SFW.

"NSFW" content doesn't necessarily mean "porn."  I think of it as "Can I wear this to work?"  IN that case, bathing suits, lingerie, and undies would fit the category. And there is much too much of that.

I'd love to see more "SFW" content ... because

    Because I'm an Adult, No.

I'm actually tired of being patronized.

When I was growing up, Adults could be adults.

Now everything has to be child safe.

No country left for old men.

DAZ Studio is an adult sport.

Part of me thinks @Masterstroke is right. Part of me thinks - from experience - it's possible for younger folk to safely use DS. Although it is imperfect, I think the voluntary filter is a good idea. Explicitly showing what we're buying is also a good idea. If I may say, even with the filters and new attitudes about all that here, too few PAs take the extra step to show us what's what. It's disappointing. I realize back-catalog will be stuck in the past, but new products frequently fail to display everything we as customers should be able to see..

So are they saying it wasn't about "adult content" in the beginning? Like, this is a new thing?

Sorry. I think I missed something. Who are "they" in your question?

"They" is anyone who is concerned about the pivot toward adult content.

Ah! Thank you. It's all sorts of fun stuff. Some are concerned about accidentally showing anything nsfw to friends, family, clients. Some are concerned daz site will become renderotica. Some are quite irritated that the mature filter is a bit overactive and blocks stuff that is harmless such as sweater patterns - nothing unusual.

Pivot towards adult content, i don't really know or checked cause been away from 3d for 3-4 years, but what is puzzling me the most is actually the opposite ridiculously "prudish" trend that emerged a couple years ago. Just stumbled upon something 1mn ago that illustrates this rather well, check this (4th promo picture) and tell me what you think Oo :

"this content is for mature audiences only"... Oh, really?!? Oo ... Did i miss something or ??

There is a setting to show all images by default. Go on the page to edit your account and check the Show Mature Images checkbox (I don't know if it's still the case, but at one point, there was a bug and for people who had autofil active for the account info, updating their profil could result on their username being replaced by their email adress):

It's the best of both world in the end: if you want to see everything, check the box, if you prefer to err on the side of caution, keep it unchecked and voila.

Thanks for the tip, but that i knew :)  - My concern was more, why in the world was that picture flagged as mature or anyhting like this in the first place... Really clueless Oo . And somehow worried too Oo

I think in that example the pink elbows have most likely confused the robot that they would have used to retro-set the NSFW flag. Would need a human to check it and unset the flag I guess.

I did mention overactive filter as an issue. There we see it in action once again.

  • NaviNavi Posts: 452

Well, not sure if it was an intentional flag or whatever to be honest, cause i still remember seeing some people making really weird and crazy requests right here in the Daz forums a few years ago at the time i was quiting 3d (notably somebody complaning about some shoulder skin we saw in a 3D Universe char promo pic Oo... lol), but at least that picture i linked in my first post has been fixed it seems xD

Just an update to my own post - Luna3D has apparenly dropped the Evenstar name at Rendo and is now back to using Luna3D, probably to help people who've bought product there not accidentally buy it again here.  If that's the case, thank you L3D, it's greatly appreciated.
