Wow! OK, so it looks even with modern rendered to be very scant on details. I guess I will skip that one and wait for a sale for the one at rendo. Same PA at Rendo has also a Barney & Andy style cruiser.

    Thanks very much!

@nonesuch00 I'm not very good about cars as I haven't rendered any the past year. Cars I bought were the Truform cars over at Rendo. There is a Heavy Police Car by that vendor and the doors and hood open. You'd have to check it for details to see if you like it. Item 125334

I found a post by Frank (moderator) interesting from the RIP men content thread. He said the forum members are only about 8% of the customer base.

I remember the vendor, Valandar, posting about that car. He, (she?) said it was so old he'd thought of pulling it down, but people still buy it. Some others popped in to show and tell how they were using it. Even the vendor says it's not good enough for close up shots. Sorry I don't have link to that thread. It was a year or two ago.

And I have to laugh every time I see that 8% figure bandied about. You know those political polls we see about how many people want this or that, or how many approve of such-snd-such politician…? I don't know if it's still true, but those polls the media use to let us know how the rest of the city/state/country feel about one thing or another…? Pollsters did not survey 8% of the population. More like 1000 people, although it's been so long since I read that, I have no idea of the source. Of course, with the internet, and free unlimited long distance on so many carriers, that number has undoubtedly increased. But I think it would enlightening if any of those Pollsters used a full 8% for their surveys!

Thanks I'll just eventually get the two at rendo but the price on those have me balking. Ah well, patience I guess.

I read that 8% too & I'm think if that 8% is from total forum members & not necessarily active ones, well then, most of the male and female content must be doing pretty decent with regards to sales. As far as (adjective here) polls go well they're pretty worthless aren't they? I had enough stats to know if those poll questions weren't skewed to elicit the response the sponsors of the poll desire that they wouldn't consistently so wrong so often. However, fixing those polling methods exposes that most don't want what the poll sponsors want.

@Nonesuch  There are also three recent police vehicles by Polish, in this bundle https://www.daz3d.com/police-vehicles-bundle which can also be purchased individually - rather modern looking, not the old Crown Victoria style.

@nonesuch00 ...  I have the CV-1 vehicle by lwanmtr, so I'll chime in here. Like you, I felt it was pretty costly at $30 when I first saw it at that store-- especially since that was a few years back and $30 was at that time not the common range for a car at that store or daz--so I wishlisted it and occasionally licked the promos.  I waited for some sale, and it seemed like ...m a n y days... passed but finally there was a sale or a coupon or something and I finally got it last year or more.  I'm happy I did get it... the model is the most credible looking Crown Vic car/police/trooper/cab model I've seen at hobbyist stores/prices.

The base model is the standard civilian vessel, and there are separate add-on exterior & interior bits for the police lights, bullbar, and other accessories which make it a trooper/police car or a taxicab. There are mats to flavor it as police, taxi etc to go with the accessories.  So, the model is versatile, (unlike that new Polish police car coupe which doesn't have the police equipment separated so it can't be used as just a regular coupe!) which makes buying it a little more palatable at a higher price.  It is for Poser or DAZ STUDIO, but it predates iRay, so for the iRay engine, you'd have to "iRadiate" it yourself, but most of us with lots of content now have shader libraries, or other vehicles with iRay shaders, from which you can get chrome, glass, rubber, vinyl, metal, leather etc to iRadiate any materials on the car you feel need updating, so that isn't a problem for me, but something for you to consider.  The base car costs 303,918 faces in Daz Studio 4.10 per scene info when loaded, so that's not inconsequential exactly but for a credibly detailed model, not bad really.  (For comparision, that daz/petipet CAR ROLAND is 476,675 faces.) EDITED to ADD THIS: 394,320 faces is what the base car, with adds-ons of a police light bar on top, spotlights, prisoner divider/police console, front bullbars costs alltogether-- the extras to make car into police car don't seem to blow up the poly count, so that's a plus!!

RIGHT NOW til Sat midnite (rendo midnight) there's a COUPON for ALL shoppers (not just Prime) there to get 35% OFF a purchase over $10minimum AND :) this CV-1 is a product/vendor who DOES HONOR SUCH COUPONS so if you are wanting to get this soon (instead of waiting for the lowest possible price, which might be some time to wait for a 40 or 50% off sale on this item/vendor) then you've got today and tomorrow to save 35% on it. :)

hope this info is useful for your considerations...

I haven't seen the post, but have been told it's "out there" so in case you didn't know, the loyalty $5 off DOs works three times, not once. (Post was made back at 5pm-ish.)  I didn't really need anything but I had to laugh at the cost- I got the Open Shoulder Dress and Textures. I really was only interested in the white one for the textures as I can use colors and change that up.  Look at the cost of the textures that Paypal had to do:

Dress: edit: not sure if it was 40% or 58% off to start with,   bottom line for me was $2.37 so 89%
Textures: 8.97 40% then $5.02 and 66% with the 20%, then $5 off it was TWO CENTS .02 for Paypal!

So the dress and textures was $2.39 TOTAL.

@nonesuch00 ... You're quite welcome.   and PS: OH! I had forgotten... in addition to doors & trunk opening, steering etc, this model lets you go RIGHT HAND DRIVE also, in addition to the US/Left Hand drive set up, and there's also a different kind of lightbar add-on that goes on package shelf/backwindow area of interior (instead of the big rooftop lightbar) for if you are wanting to have the typical UNDERCOVER cop car, and as well as stuff for making taxicab inside & also outside with a roof-mounted advert sign like cabs sometimes have.  It is really a pretty versatile model-- I'd forgotten so much about this until you brought it back to my attention, so thanks for the reminder to enjoy content I already have more often! :)

I'm really struggling to find anything in the "get 3 freebies" section as I don't use Victoria 4 at all (wow, talk about wasting thousands of dollars. I just don't have time to mess with showcasing that stuff, I can't keep up with the Genesis 3 and 8 stuff I've bought.)  Anyway, if you're in the same boat, here's an idea- buy things like jewelry and see if you can put them on later Generations. If all else fails, you can always put them on a Victoria 4, align her to the later generation figure, then ghost her out.  (It's called cheating.)  Items I got for free (and of course, don't need) that may work:

Metal FUNK- Hoops N Loops Vol 1        Metal FUNK- Hoops N Loops Vol 2       V4 Belly Bling

Anyone tried those on later generations?

Also, If any of you don't already have all of the sets from Danie and Marforno (DM in the product title,) there are 16 in the get 3 freebies section: Filtered by Danie.

LOL, luckily I've only wasted a a couple hundred on the V4/M4 stuff. No comment on Genesis 3 & Genesis 8. laugh

I used V4 from when she first came out until still now and have soooo much content for her! I was Poser only until March Madness 2016 when they gave away a free V7 and I couldn't resist. And then came the DS learning curve from hell that I'm still dealing with....I still like V4 but I already own everything I want for her. Plus I have a ton of stuff for her that I got at Rendo and RDNA because I was shopping there exclusively since Genesis came out (unless I accidentally found a big sale here on V4 stuff I didn't already have) because at first you couldn't use Genesis or G2 in Poser and when they finally made it possible, it as very buggy and the expressions and face details aren't as good as V4.  I purchased a lot of morph packages for V4 at Rendo to make her even more versatile. She is much more limited in DS without those extra products that I'd rather just use her in Poser, because it's easier for me. I still think V4 has the most variety in faces but G8 is catching up and I still really like V4 for portraits, but her shoulders are weird and there's a LOT less variety in bodies and almost impossible to make young bodies to go with young faces...

I have purchased by now a lot of Genesis and G2 products that I got in deep sales here, but I think they are best for toons or non-close-up shots with artistic postwork. (Although some G2s can look pretty good with Anagenesis 2.) I've noticed that the lips in all Genesises until maybe G8 lack the detail of V4's.  I still think V4 has the best lips, especially with all the morph packages I have for her purchased at Rendo and IRay seems to remove the texture of lips, giving them just a flat gloss, but Genesis and G2 have bad lips too...

By now I have tons of everything for every generation so I can do toons, anime, pinups, high fashion, old, young, alien, fantasy, whatever. I think every generation has something a little different to add to your 3D art toolbox... But I still do like V4, she also has the best smile!  (This is a REALLY old one from Poser.)

Well, I wound up getting the 1973 Matador Police Cruiser at Rendo instead of the Crown Victoria Police Cruiser at Rendo because the Matador was coincidently the last car my father had and coincidently the same police cruiser used in the show Adam 12. Actually I think that was not a coincidence because the PA that made it hinted it was created with a well known TV show in mind.

At any rate, for those wanting police cars those are both execellent models with opening doors & trunks & such but no opening hood & no engines. Also the old 3DL materials are a bit lackadaisal but do well enough in iRay conversion. I will probably make new surfaces presets & new decals for them as freebies once DAZ Studio 4.11.x comes out. Using only the supplied DAZ 3D & nVidia materials supplied by default with DAZ Studio. I find it odd actually that DAZ 3D does not integrate the entire suite of nVidia iRay materials as part of the Genesis 8 Starter Essentials and the prior Genesis Starter Essentials as well.

Since I want to do a series of cops & perps poses I will probably eventually buy the Crown Victoria, Polish's, & the Policebike! I''m going to wait to add more poses though until DAZ studio 4.11 comes out and fixes this atrocious lag in my viewport.

Anyway, a gander at how the police cruiser renders for review of forum visitors.

My first car was a Matador! I like the cruiser. The roadrunner will simply outrun them next time, he only stopped because he was curious. Meep Meep!

A head's up for you Western renders folks, over at Rendo there's a Western Peddling Cart that looks really good. Also, if you buy textures on sale (even if you don't own the outfit, I do this often) check out the lovely 7th Ave: dForce- Train Dress for Genesis 8 Females. Then wishlist the Train Dress (unless you have it already.)   One outfit from here that I thought of right away that had nice flow was the dForce Avalon Outfit (love PandyGirl)  It's classic, understated and sleek, with nice lines. I don't own it (I don't need long dresses) so did anyone else get it that has rendered it?  Any other PandyGirl outfits to showcase?

@barbult   That's hilarious! The dropped leash looks so real!

Okay, I have a question for everyone. If you want a body part to follow another body part (on the same person) how do you do it? Like a hand on a knee, and if you move the knee, the hand goes with it. You can't parent it within the same body, right? Can a null be used? I don't really understand those as I haven't used them. They're placeholders (for eyes to follow, etc) but can things be parented to them?

I'm sure I know the answer but am drawing a blank. Been on the computer too long already and getting tired.

I think Casual may have a script to help with that, if you check the Freebies forum.

@richardhaseltine   Already did a search and that one requires one to either be a prop, or two different people. I still have the tab open, is this it?

Edit, nope. I have so many tabs open, it isn't funny. I did find this thread.

You may want to check his own site, though I'm not sure how many of the older scripts 9that would have threads on the old forum) will work in (or have been updated for) DS 4.x.x.x

Could you hav a dupliacted figure, either parented to the original or just mirroring the poses and mor[phs and use that?

Hey @simonJM  I already tried ghosting a figure (putting it on top of the other one, same pose) and tried to parent the ghost hand to the thigh. Didn't work, it parented the entire figure and wouldn't be specific. I tried putting a primitive plane on the thigh and parenting it to the thigh, then tried parenting the hand to the plane. For some reason, that didn't work either. It's been a few hours ago, can't recall why that didn't work.  I thought I was logical and brilliant LOL.

I want the hand to move when the thigh moves. (stay on it) I don't know how I got off on this tangent, I was putzing around and got curious and now I'm down the rabbit hole. No carrots to be found.  I guess pinning doesn't pin a part of the body to another part? It didn't take for me.

Could you not add a prop - a null or a non-visible primitive - and parent it to one body part, then use the casual script on that prop and the other body part?
