Horo, Rieke77 : thank you.
Thanks everyone
adbc i like them both and there is a lot of work put into number one but for my part I prefer the simplicity and composition of the second one,,,,,,, great stuff
Adbc - I like both, awesome renders, well done.
Thanks everyone

back to normal
spuddy - the vegetation is beautiful.
@ spuddy - I agree with Horo.
spuddy, mermaid : thank you.
spuddy : cool landscape, great vegetation.
Spuddy - wow beautiful landscape. Are the vegetation freebies?
An Abstract of spheres and tori using a sky from the Exotic Hdri for Fantasy Skies and Sci-fi for lighting.
mermaid - that came out very nice, beautiful colours.
@ mermaid010 - this is an very beautiful abstract render.
mermaid : awesome colours, very nice abstract.
Thanks Horo Thanks reike77 Thanks adbc
Thanks mermaid010,,,,,,vegetation yes the daisies the white flower and the large grass in the foreground are free to use png images....the fine grass is my own particle brush
below are the layers used to put the picture together ....but layer four is in fact made up of 9 layers each element is on a seperate layer to enable movement of them ...hope that explains thing a little
ps layers two three and four actually have transparent backgrounds Ie the black is transparent but i saved them as jpg so they would show up better
mermaid Great abstract lovely movement in the cols and reflections the Hdri sky has a big impact on it
trying out 2 new materiasl one render grassy..... one render sandy and a mixture of both so excuse the scene
grassy
sandy
mixture
Thanks Horo, Reike77, Adbc and Spuddy for your nice comments.
Spuddy - wow that's fantastic how you put everything together. Thanks for your explanations. So far I never succeeded in adding nice vegetation either using objects or images. With your permission, I would like to use the two vegetation ones. Your latest examples, trying out different materials are also nice.
Thanks mermaid010 I have no problem with you using them but you will need these png images below...Is there a place to share things like this?
mermaid or anyone really here are some more bits and pieces made from my own particle brushes
Spuddy - thanks a ton. I don't think there is a way to share on the forum, some members upload to Dropbox or ShareCG if they wish to share files. In this case I'll save the enlarged images and try. Thanks again.
What other software do you have to add resize move etc to the bryce image?
Thanks once again Spuddy. I use an ancient version of Photoshop, as ancient as I am, but it is still good for my needs. I have lots of 2D png images, but I am not as successful as you have been in using them in Bryce.
@ spuddy - I also downloaded your particle brushes.
Thank you very much for that. They're really great.
spuddy : Very nice trying out materials .
spuddy - very nice objects. I am not a fan of billboards, though at rare moments I use them for far away objects (a forest or so). Nevertheless, it is easy to create them directly in Bryce, no other program (Photoshop, Gimp, ...) is needed. Here are the steps:
Making a Billboard
- Create the objects you want to create a billboard from, say a tree.
- Render scene with tree and export image as test0.BMP.
- Select the objects you want on the billboard, example the tree.
- Render as Object Mask and export image as test1.BMP.
Using Billboard
- Create a Leo (this creates a 2D-Face with the aspect ratio of the pictures).
- In the Mat Lab, set a dot in Diffuse, Ambient and Transparency.
- This creates a random texture.
- On the texture, click on P (lower border second from left) to select the Pictures Lib.
- On the texture, open the Pictures Lib (upper border second from left).
- In the Pictures Lib, select a free square (usually next to Leo), this opens the Open dialogue.
- Select the rendered picture test0.BMP. It appears in the left most window above.
- Click on Load on the second (middle) image to open the Open dialogue.
- Select the rendered object mask test1.BMP, on the centre window you see a white object on a black background.
- In the rightmost window, you see the object isolated.
- With Diffusion and Ambience, the brightness can be adjusted.
- Check that the Mapping Mode is Parametric (far right button at lower border of the texture (already set if 2D face was created with Leo).
- Check in the Material Options (down arrow left of first texture) that Blend Transparency is checked (already set if 2D face was created with Leo).
- Exit the Mat Lab and adjust the size and position.
The reason I seldom use billboards is because they are 2 dimensional and I cannot use one made in daylight in an evening or night scene.
I like to use 2D images, especially to add people in my renders for the challenges, but so fair I did not have much success with them.
A re-render of a previous sunset scene using one of the Hdris from the Landscapes under Fantastic Skies.
@mermaid010: Lovely. Maybe the water could have a tiny little bit of waves to separate it better from the sky, but maybe this was just you intention not to show it clearly.
Thanks for your comment and suggestion, Electro-Elvis. I was going for a mirrored effect, I'll try with a bit of bump.
@ mermaid010 - what a wonderful scene! I like the sky.
Very noticeable perspective distortions of 2D bird billboards. 2D images should be perpendicular to the view from the camera.
