adbc - this space bug looks great.

mermaid - very nicely done scene, the water looks very good.

    mermaid, horo : thank you.

mermaid : beautiful scene, the water with a bit of foam reaching the land is very well done, I like the atmosphere.

Horo: Again a great view of the alien artefact.

Adbc: That space bug really looks amazing in your render.

Mermaid010: Very good landscaping and great sea. The boat looks to get into trouble, though coming too close to the rocks.

Two new landscapes. Though both are sunset/sunrise type renders, I decided to enter neither of them in the contest.

The green one has a stacked terrain. The second terrain creates the small rocks all over the terrain. The yellow one I call 'twilight at Wadi Rum', though it does not really look like Wadi Rum, I think.

Both terrains are made with a combination of TE-filters and modifications at the terrain editor.

    Hansmar : thank you.

The green terrain with the rocks is very cool.

I think the sand at Wadi Rum looks a bit different, anyway it's a nice image.

Hansmar - thank you. Very nice terrain work, both look great.

I converted a couple of HDRI angular maps David and I had made for sets some of them Daz accepted and some declined to terrains, which kept me busy for a while. This terrain was made with Gasclouds_B01 and the HDRI is also used as sky and ambient light. A cone with a streaming light effect (from the Inclement Weather set) grossly modified to shine from the sun at left.

adbc and mermaid - thank you.

This terrain was made with Gasclouds_B02 and the HDRI is also used as sky and ambient light. The haze is a cube (from the Inclement Weather set, the haze horizon line was too high to use haze).

adbc - thank you. Two excellent renders. They are different but nevertheless similar. I like the colour and contrast of the first, and on the second I like what looks to me like alien cities. The sky is great.

This terrain was made with Gasclouds_B03 (from Landscapes under Fantastic Skies) and the HDRI is also used as sky and ambient light.

Horo, adbc: wonderful terrain work and well rendered.

Spuddy: the  first render has a very nice background Is that a background or did you make that yourself. The car looks a bit weird. Maybe I am used to more shiny cars (though mine is not)?  The sky in the second one is very nice. It is almost a pity that the view of the sky is not complete, because of the buildings.

spuddy :  I do agree with Hansmar's comments.

    Hansmar : thank you.

Horo : just curious, how did you convert those HDRI's. I suppose PaintShop Pro can do the job.

spuddy - two nice renders. On the first, I think the car needs some work: windws transparent, car body reflecting. The second is very nice with a great sky.

    Hansmar - thank you.

adbc - it's a bit tricky. I used the angular maps that I had to remap into the spherical projection. I used HDRShop for this because it can do n x n supersampling along with bilinear interpolation, but Bryce can also convert an angular map into the spherical projection. Then I rescaled the 2:1 spherical projection to square in Photoshop, set saturation to 0 (remove colours), set it to 32-bit grey scale and then reduced to 16-bit, adjusting the brightness. Finally I optimised the contrast with TE-Filters so the lowest/darkest part is at zero and the brightest/highest at 65,536.

Spuddy - two nice renders I love the sky in the second one.

Horo - thanks for the explanation, I was going to ask the same question

Wow, so many awesome images.  yes

I like them all and you all inspired me

Horo : thanks for the explanation, quite complicated, I just tried something else.

For both images I used gasclouds B03 1280, the first one has a Bryce sky, the second one a sky from Landscapes under fantastic skies.

For the first image I changed the HDRI into Latitude/Longitude with HDR shop free, to get rid of the circle with black background, the result is not too bad but I used two terrains. For the second render I changed the HDRI into a mirror ball close up, which gave me a square image, I think that the result is a bit better and there is only one terrain.I converted both  into greyscale with paintshop pro, decreased the colour depth, adjusted the brightness and contrast.

I would call them : crazy terrains.
