mermaid and Rieke77 - thank you
This terrain was made with Gasclouds_B04 (from Landscapes under Fantastic Skies) and the HDRI is also used as sky and ambient light.
adbc very cool effects the first one is my favourite and thanks for the commen
Hansmar..Thanks for the comments.... I wish; no it's a background ..I agree about the car just being lazy
Horo Thanks the car, yes, if only i knew how ...must have crossed posted didn't comment on your last render which is excellent i really like the depth and the gas clouds are very realistic and subtle
Mermaid010 and Rieke77 Thanks
did a remake of the first one and ditched the car added the chap lurking up to no good some rubbish and bits and pieces and a waste bin
Horo : again an awesome terrain with the gasclouds.
spuddy : thank you. Your remake looks better without the car.
Adbc - two very unusual terrains nicely represented. Thanks for sharing how you did you.
Horo - another amazing render.
Spuddy – the re-render looks nice
I played with TE-Filters, yes the terrain looks similar to Horo’s because I used his recipe for manipulating the terrain, the difference I used Alpine Valleys as a starting point. The lighting and material are from the Terrain Stacking set.
spuddy - nice without the car as well.
adbc - thank you.
mermaid - thank you. Oh, this came out quite nice.
mermaid : very nice terrain with the TE filters.
Here's another one: this terrain was made with Gasclouds_B05 and the HDRI is also used as sky and ambient light.
Horo : great result with the gascloud terrains.
Second experiment with gasclouds, both images same 3 terrains, two slightly modified in the TE (used HDRI06), did same conversion as before (page 56) but this time rectangular.
Thanks Horo and Adbc.
Horo - awesome results with the gasclouds.
Adbc - I like both your renders, especially the snowy texture in the 2nd one
mermaid : thank you.
adbc - thank you. Great terrains, the snowy one has very nice colour variations from the sky. Isn't that the Gascloud_B06 you used?
mermaid - thank you.
Here the terrain was made with Gasclouds_B06 (from Landscapes under Fantastic Skies) and the HDRI is also used as sky and ambient light. It is so arranged that the red clouds match the terrain peaks - which took me a bit to adjust (Yaw 333, Pitch 73, Roll 235).
Horo : thank you. Yes it's the gascloud 06. In my opinion those terrains are very difficult to handle before something acceptable comes out, they are sometimes very bumpy, matching the sky, as you do, is really awesome. This is again an excellent render.
Horo - I agree with Adbc, another beautiful render. I'm trying to work out how both you and Adbc are making height maps from the Hdris.
adbc - thank you. Yes, terrains created from an HDRI are a bit tricky. You may have to Smooth them and start with a rather low area to height ratio, the default 4:1 is often too exaggerated. Start with 10:1 (e.g. X and Z 4000, Y 400) and go from there.
mermaid - thank you. Good luck. Ask if you need some tips.
A Slickrock terrain was manipulated in the TE-filter, the material and lighting from the Landscapes under Fantastic Skies set
mermaid : cool image. I like how the terrain looks. Very beautiful sky.
Something different this time, just a normal landscape. I tried a different FOV added some trees and a castle ruin.
mermaid - the terraced terrain looks great under this sky.
adbc - beautiful scene with the trees, the sky fits the scene nicely. Only the castle ruin looks a bit small compared to the trees, but it is a very nice addition to complete the autumn scene.
The terrain was made with Gasclouds_B07 and the HDRI is also used as sky, ambient light and reflection on the water. The 2048 and 1024 terrains are stacked. I was surprised to see the bright sun-like part appear like an old stone tower.
Horo : thank you. I adjusted the size of the castle ruin a bit.
Great terrains made with gascloud 07, the effect is awesome.
Here is the reworked version.
The second render was made with gasclouds 04, adjusted sky and terrain to make it look like an explosion.
Adbc - thanks, both your renders look nice, especially the 2nd one explosion, awesome effect.
Horo - thanks another superb render.
The landscape is beautiful, but, unfortunately, the alteration did not help. These undersized bushes should not be higher than the lower window of the castle.
The second landscape is interesting, fantastic and cosmic.
mermaid : thank you.
Slepalex : thanks, when I look at it, you're right the castle is not much bigger than the first version, although I do not really understand what you're saying, "undersized" bushes should not be higher that the lower window of the castle ? If If I understand correctly : the bushes are too big (and not undersized) but the castle size is right. I definitely have a problem with the proportion of things ; due to the FOV (camera at 120) there is some kind of distortion, started the castle at the top and once closer it became huge and distorted, so I reduced the size. I am confused, what I tried to do was some kind of view from above, no luck obviously. Maybe deleting the castle is one too easy solution.
Made a few changes to the bushes and the castle. I think the proportions are right this time.......
Some amazing artwork here. Took a while to view all the pages because I kept stopping to study how they were constructed.
adbc, I explain. Obviously, these are not trees, but shrubs. Where have you seen shrubbery more than three meters high? The castle is a monumental structure and the first floor of the castle is higher than that of modern houses. Therefore, the tops of the bushes will hardly reach the middle of the first floor window. If it were an oak or poplar, then it is logical that it reaches a height of 10-15 meters.
Therefore, you need to either reduce the bushes or increase the castle.
mermaid - thank you.
adbc - I think Slepalex is right. I also always struggle to get sizes right.
The terrain and the copy in the distance were made with Gasclouds_B08 and the HDRI is also used as sky and ambient light. The object in the foreground was made with Incendia.
Slepalex : thanks for your comment. I reduced the size of the shrubs.... well, this time I hope I did it right.
Horo : Awesome image with the gasclouds, I like the object you made with Incendia. Yes, of course Slepalex is right, although not really easy to reduce those shrubs more without them disappearing in the ground especially on the higher parts of the terrain.
Horo –wow another superb render, nice Incendia object.
Adbc – I think the render looks nice now, I also have problems with sizing objects, it’s cool we have members looking over our shoulders to correct/guide us.
Although I have HDRshop, I still did not understand how Horo and Adbc used it. Anyway I went my our way, opened the Gascloud_B06 in Photoshop, selected a square, copied it into a new doc changed the size to 1024,set it to grayscale 16bit, applied a bit of Gaussian Blur, adjusted the Brightness/Contrast, saved as a Tiff. Hopped over to the TE Filters and then brought the result into Bryce. The sky is from Golden Lighting and material one of David’s from the pro materials.
Been working on waterfalls lately. Here is an out take from the current challenge. Called " Sunset Falls"
