LOL SereneNight! I bet you had a giggle fit!

    OT:

This is an INCREDIBLE video for you whale lovers- and even if you're not. Two things- the whales coming to the kayaks, AND the best footage I've ever seen of their bubble fishing. The entire pod comes to the surface with their mouths open- awesome!!!!!

I bought this thinking of it as a retro-style from 40s and 50s, but it is described as "cute, contemporary". Anyway I bought it to do scenes from "the good old days" and for older and odd-ball characters. I think now after playing with it, that it is pretty versatile. It can look kind of frumpy, also look nice as a casual hairstyle. It can be made shorter or longer in the back and the crown can be elevated, changing the look a lot.

It renders pretty fast, even leaving on the ray trace option with UE2 and 1 spot. It is for both Genesis and G2 Females. On sale for 60% off right now. Used Genesis 2 Female with Anna texture (V6 HD). Bellatrix morph is in the bottom right corner.

Just a heads-up on the "Hot Men" Promotion - it seems to be back as I just got a bunch of Raiya and Valea products (that are in the 50% or 60% Genesis sales) at only 3 or 4 dollars apiece by picking up Amon for M6 at the same time. The "glitch" stacking is happening again (one item 60% sale price less 50% stacking "Hot Men" less 10% for large basket (I can't for the life of me work out exactly how it calculates that $50+ basket but never mind the 10% is nice to have!)

That looks nice - I passed on it but maybe changing my mind. Is that really Bellatrix in the bottom right? It looks very different from the promo pics for that product - I didn't buy it when it came out.
ETA: Silly me, I just looked again and realised you meant the morph not the skin - still Anna I presume?

This is getting ridiculous. You never know when you should buy something or sit it out. Thanks for letting everyone know.

    Luci-
One reason I had Wren hair on my wishlist was for that very reason, looks decidedly 50's- but another reason is that one view from the side looks totally contemporary! Thanks for showing so many views, and I like the colors.

If the 50.00 works like it did in the snowball, it's when your product price (the sale price) adds up to 50.00
They wouldn't trigger it at a price (full price) that didn't exist. You'll see the price per item change once that second column totals 50.00

I like that hair Luci45! looks great. =-)

I didn't buy Bellatrix. None of the promo art, depicted the character smiling. I want happy characters, darn it! =-) But I like what you did with the morph!

Some that will do that overlap:
    Feral Fey store-
$3.99 For the bouquet of roses (good for a prom) and a tiara (again, a prom) a scepter
    http://www.daz3d.com/pageant-gear

$3.19 Swords, poses, and baldric (holder)
    http://www.daz3d.com/knight-gear-accessories

    Valea
Ridiculous! For $1.79 Can always use flat shoes with long dresses, etc.
    http://www.daz3d.com/pretty-basics-flat-mary-janes

    and/ or (same price)
    http://www.daz3d.com/pretty-basics-ballerina-flats

Think could use for the men too
    http://www.daz3d.com/pure-hair-charming

I've showcased this before. Very pretty hair, really liked it.
    http://www.daz3d.com/pure-hair-darling

This shows what some of these would be if you got a Hot Men (I keep wanting to say MAD MEN!) item (I got Warrior Hair, already got Anom) It worked as I thought, once the sale price went past 50.00 the totals in the second column changed.

Yes, that is still the Anna texture. The Bellatrix texture is really rough, that is, she looks like an older woman that hasn't taken care of herself and doesn't wear makeup. She, like Agnes, is an interesting "character". It would be great if DAZ or a PA would do an older woman with some dignity. Francesca for V4 comes close. Gabriella looks like a young "cougar." LOL. I should do a review.

Thank you for this -- I just nabbed some great Valea and Raiya things -- over $100 of stuff for $30.

Oh, and btw, you can tell if you're getting the $50 discount pretty easily. You know how, if you click the pull-down cart, it gives one number, but when you go to the actual cart, it's further discounted? If the pull-down cart is over $50, you get the discount. :) Figured that out by accident yesterday.

    YEESSSSSSSSSSS.
Just got $440 worth of stuff for $97. Mostly Valea and Meshitup. Have wanted those Shenandoah outfits for AGES.

    Thanks for the heads-up.

I hope everyone that missed the sales (prices changing in the cart) gets them before all this switches off.
This is seriously CRAZY. I don't think DAZ meant to put all that stuff on FAST GRAB status.

My cart just now was $275.10 -$205.71 for a total of $69.39 and I got 18 things, averages to $3.85 apiece. Some of those items were $6-$7 too.

Don't forget, at these prices, to look at items you might not normally get- perhaps the slinky- and put the bodysuits under them. I just picked up a bunch of 'em because I liked the way my Oceana turned out- I put a bodysuit under her two shell bodice, then "disappeared" sections and it was very nice.

A couple outfits I noticed from the thumbnails- I LOVE olive green, so look at the thumbnails on this one
    http://www.daz3d.com/purple-rain-outfit

    http://www.daz3d.com/wilde-rhoads-for-genesis
Got that for the sunglasses, take a close peek! Comes with Boots,Gloves, Holster, Shorts, Top, Vest, Flintlock Left, Flintlock Right, Glasses
The boots are funky, want to play with those. Very unusual.

    http://www.daz3d.com/amethyst-fantasy-for-genesis
This is should be easy to layer with the bodysuit.

    http://www.daz3d.com/trail-blazer-for-genesis
This one too. I think could look quite elegant in fact.

    http://www.daz3d.com/outland-marauder-for-genesis
This one surprised me when I looked at the thumbnails. Again, a bodysuit would close that little gap of skin at the tummy if you wanted it to, but look at this with and without the armor. VERY multipurpose. And note the back- the way it's broken up, the emphasis (IMO) isn't on a big round butt. I think this would look great from the side! (EDIT-Look at the sitting down pose. Also could use the bottom layer (black) with other outfits)

    EDIT: Also has:

    Outland Marauder For Genesis
    http://www.daz3d.com/outland-marauder-for-genesis

Okay, I'm hurrying with this because the site may change over.
Some notes- You can NOT tell about the lighting until you render it. Totally clueless- the materials don't reflect/give you any indication how the light is working.

You can not load the chest plate/piece without the head gear. I have not tested the Polygon Editing tool.
The outfit went on without any tweaking at all, great fit! You need to adjust the arm pieces though.

EDIT: Rendering now. Extremely nice textures.

So here's a closeup, without the forearm pieces so you can see the underneath textures. Note how the "screen" curves on the forehead so realistically- not stiff

If you don't have 3Drama Xpress, you're missing 100 (yes a HUNDRED) poses.
To quote the description: "30 full body poses, 30 matching expressions and 30 partial leg poses of specific emotional scenarios. Along with the 10 utility poses, there are a total of 100 3D animation software poses altogether."

Headed to bed, but rendering now: Marielle Hair (highly recommend for long hair that goes on GREAT out of the box- no tweaking, no poke through on the chest!) and that Purple Rain Outfit I mentioned due to the olive color. Good for sitting poses- at least from one side to 3/4 of a view can be done quickly! Also, the character Hudson is modeling both the hair and dress.

EDIT: Seriously, if still on sale, you'll love the Marielle Hair. It's rendering in beautifully.

    Thread visitors-
Now would be a good time to let us know what you'd like to see showcased or ask the team what they think about certain products. With the sales going on, we don't want you to miss out on the really good ones! Can't guarantee we can render all requests, depending on how many we get- but if there is a hair or outfit you want to see, mention it. We can at least share what our experiences with it have been.

I've got to head to the ranch around 10am to pull the blanket off the horse, so won't be checking in until around 11:30am or later. Will share the Marielle Hair/Purple Rain/Hudson render then. If you get a chance, take a look at Hudson's makeup options. There's one that is a "lighter" (not as bold, lines not as thick) version of Ariadne. Great makeup colors for the lips.

Sorry peeps, I have been on a massive artist block or whatever it'd called.
Just had staring contests with my DAZ interface an tried hasseling with Garibaldi and that wasn't a very succesful venture.
Going to kick myself in the butt and start rendering something for this thread just to get me started again ^^

Pretty dress texture Trish -- thanks for the close-up which really shows it off.

Looking forward to seeing what you come up with up, Estroyer.... no pressure or anything! :)

As for me, I've been a bit overwhelmed by all these sales... can't buy it all and it's so hard to narrow it down. I finally picked up the AoA Lights which seem to have been very popular, since he's a vendor who isn't often discounted to 60%. I predict many hours trying to get to grips with them now. Anyone else here got them and have any tips to share?

Excellent work with the renders, Novica. Not sure the outfit's something I can use, but your lighting's beautiful and I love the way it reflects on the different parts of the suit. The poses sounds like something that needs to head straight to the wishlist.

My learning thread on the AoA Advanced Lights is here. It's been kind of on hiatus for a little while but I'll revisit it at some point as I learn more tips worth sharing.

I do highly recommend the lights to anyone who is interested, especially at 60% off!

Your comment about being "overwhelmed" by the sale brings up a question I've been thinking about...among items currently on sale, what would you recommend to someone with a limited budget?

    Here's my own response:

If your budget is under $5, consider:
Mavka Hair (and don't forget to take a look at everything else in smay's store...prices are very reasonable)
Orion Hair, Gregoria Hair, or another style by 3Dream and Mairy
Andromeda's Legend for Genesis (in addition to the outfit, comes with accessories, props, and poses for a ridiculously low price)
Xavior Hair (or one of Neftis3D's other fibermesh hairstyles)

Interested to hear other's perspectives too...and feel free to change the $5 limit to whatever you'd like.

@Novica/KaribousBoutique/canberra_boy - you're all welcome and thanks to those who pointed out how the $50 was worked out (I'd given up looking at the drop-down cart info as it so often doesn't match the checkout price but it seems it is useful here!)
PS: The stacking sale with the "Hot Men" was still working an hour ago despite the "Hot Men" disappearing from the Promos page, but that might mean it's about to disappear for good now DAZ is back in the office and finishing it's first cup of coffee!

Thanks, Scott, this is exactly what I need! I always find your tutorials helpful. I've been feeling nervous about these lights but having your thread to read through gives me more confidence to dive in and use them.

I agree about Smay having great value products, especially when discounted by 60%. (I took your advice and got the 220 emotions.)

Also at a bargain price is Pure Hair Rock n Roll -- currently just $2.51 if you get 72% off. Despite the low price, it's a nice hair that givesa modern look.

I am still learning these lights, but Scotts thread is really good info, and also Jabba101 has some great youtube videos you could check out. these lights are fabulous, everytime I mess with it I find something new as to how it works. I also purchased AoA's new subsurface tutorial hoping to learn more about subsurface to use in conjunction with the lights. that tutorial is great info on the subsurface shader.

Okay, I'm here. Going to spend quite a bit of time on the thread today, thanks for covering for me while I was MIA (due to the RRRR contest)
I'm telling you, that Marielle Hair is EXQUISITE. I'm still rendering the closeup.

The lighting on the Marauder was nice, thanks- if I had time though I would have backlit that one upraised arm- as it is all in black- to have a faint gray glow going down along the arm and particularly highlighting the hand that is raised by the mouth. Just kind of a note for the IGC's- while known for your gorgeous renders, if there's a sale on and you want to get the information out there, don't spend days on a "perfect" render. We need to get the products seen before the sale ends. I could tweak that Marauder for a couple more days before I'm happy with it!

Do note it is a hard one to light- you can NOT tell what the lights are doing until you render it. It looked totally dark in the viewport. I was like, "WOW. Too bright, are you kidding me?"

Trish- dress looks good! I agree, shows the texture nicely. Do me a favor and go back and put the vendor(s) by the product name so when I add it to the product list section I dont have to go look up the vendors. Will speed me along :) I had forgotten to do that too, I had to go back to the Marauders and add it. Also folks- I added a link to the poses- go back and look at the Marauders if you didn't see my comments about the pose set.

Speaking of poses, and don't laugh at this- go look at the zombie poses. I can't remember which one I used in the RRRR contest as a starting point to tweak from, but it was great!

Scott- Great list. Orion Hair is surprisingly one of my favorites, I have showcased it on the threads somewhere (lol with over 3,000 posts between just thread 1 and 2, do NOT ask me where. Could even be on this thread, we move along so fast.) I have all or most of those hairs, so I might render a few quickies using your list. I'll then go surf and see what products are around $5 and post my recommendations.

    Trish-
How big is your scene? I just had serious, serious lag with the set I just finished (the last one in the SeaNautica set of 5) I had hand placed about 80 props to 100 props, and with 3 characters in the scene and a big set, I couldn't move the cube and rotate, my sliders went funky, etc. It may be your studio is overwhelmed due to your scene/props/characters perhaps?
