    SMAY
Okay, let's start with Smay. To help you shop faster, here's some of the great deals in that under $5 range that I own. I have used Bad Guy For Genesis, Stalker Girl Pants, Headdress for Genesis and would recommend all of them. Have not tried the Leather Jacket, but if it's Smay, it will be the same high quality as the rest of these. If anyone has a good, detailed, well lit (important due to the stitching) render of the jacket, please post.

A MUST HAVE for jeans that look good at the ends, not your typical squared off legs. Take a close look. Unreal at $3.98
    http://www.daz3d.com/bad-guy-for-genesis

http://www.daz3d.com/leather-jacket-for-genesis Only $3.58. Zipper looks good, and appears to have minute, detailed stitching.

http://www.daz3d.com/stalker-girl-pants-for-genesis Already mentioned- ANYTHING Stalker is good. Love the hair.

http://www.daz3d.com/sg-headdresses-for-genesis I showcased this. Found it very easy to use over Pyrit Hair or Taylor Hair, can't remember which one it was. A lot of nice textures offered. Only $3.98

    Hudson
8 eye colors, 8 lip colors, 8 makeup options. From plain to exotic eye makeup- shown is the exotic with the dark dashes, but Hudson can be your au naturel gal too. Very down to earth. I like, no LOVE, the lack of blush. No clownish makeup.

Two observations- the eyelashes do not go all the way to the end (you'll see on the extreme closeup.) This is not just this figure where that occurs, it's something you should check on all your figures to do in postwork. Second, the eyebrows need some postwork IMO- I would add a few strokes to get them more natural looking. I am not going to do the postwork I would normally do, so you can see the actual product. In the extreme closeup, you'll see how the ends fade- real hair doesn't just lose texture and go poof into a smooth line. (But in fairness to the vendor, as I said this is a significant closeup.)

Hudson also has significant hips and legs- kudos to a vendor for not making another skinny unrealistic butt. Everyone is not a model. Look at this gals curves!

    Purple Rain Outfit
Very versatile. The top can go longer/shorter, the ring can be smaller or lower, the neckband can be moved up, etc. The main thing to note about this product IMO- it was FAR FAR EASIER to pose a sitting figure than most of the other long dress products I have tried. That said, I tend to stay away from people sitting down in long dresses, but so far, this would DEFINITELY be my go-to outfit for plopping someone in a seat. It only took me five minutes to swing the dress over, and adjust the ends for a layered look. Note it is not a perfect fit, from a different view, the crossed leg (with the foot sticking up and out in an EXTREME manner) would have the leg on the outside of the dress. (Would have to fix that one ruffle on the end of the dress, over to your left, but not going to re-render it right now.)

That crossed leg is VERY high- the foot sticks out a lot-so I am definitely pleased with how easily the lap portion of this dress worked. You have so many morph options- just do your submenus in the Scene tab, and you'll have bends, twists, side to side, and always XYZ and scaling. So easy! This dress from me gets a 10/10 for posing from me for- long dresses sitting poses- for a side to 3/4 view being correct. If you want to spend 5-8 minutes (or less) less fixing a long dress, wishlist or get this one.

You can hide the corset and make it an exotic, tummy bared dress, easy smeezy.

    Marielle Hair
You can hide/change the tails, the little wisps at the forehead, and look at the thumbnails for the movement of those tails, extreme side to side action, moves from front to back easily. I am showing you the 100% out of the box, absolutely NO TWEAKING. I always dread the long braids (SereneNight and I talked about this in one of the previous threads, I think it was a French braid) and this product has converted me to a braid lover again. It renders fairly quickly too, although the extreme closeup took 3 hours 45 minutes, but with the shading rate of .20 and all other settings on excellent quality.

I think the images speak for themselves. Loved the way it laid on the chest right out of the box. This hair is currently on sale, but if it goes off sale, wishlist it! SUCH an easy hair to work with and gorgeous without any tweaking.(Edit, that middle section does bend so you can curve it into the chest, but I wanted to show the no tweak version.)

If you don't like those wisps, you just hide them. I would perhaps soften a bit in postwork for extreme closeups.

http://www.daz3d.com/mairy She has several others at 60%
http://www.daz3d.com/3dream Same. And Marja Hair is one I would mention in reference to Scott's question, also the Orion Hair he and I both like is by the same vendor that does the Marielle Hair. (Hey, I mentioned and started on Marielle last night so I am grandfathered in, lol!)

    DMs Aramonk
Have reviewed before, has nice props, the chair was changed to a olive green in the Diffuse channel because I had too much rust in the scene with her hair. There wasn't enough contrast. This set is just for background use- note she wouldn't be able to sit on that ledge in a real set. I raised the columns, etc so the set is off the ground. I wanted you to see the detail of the set and to get a sitting pose, so her feet are touching the backdrop floor plane but again, that ledge is NOT usable to seat a figure.

    3Drama Xpress
    30 body poses x 30 face poses x 30 partial poses = 27,000 possible dramas

These are big renders. Click and click again to enlarge, and enjoy! I don't often do a 4 hour render just for one hair and clothing product, but Marielle Hair and Purple Rain are "gotta gets." :)

Next: Same lighting, set, showing Purple Rain Outfit from the front, put Orion Hair on Hudson so you can see it. Render will take about half an hour (at a minimum) andif the lighting is right I'll post it next. Doing a carmel blonde version. Running a few errands, back in an hour.
EDIT: HAIR COMING IN REALLY PRETTY, SHARP DETAIL.

I am still learning these lights, but Scotts thread is really good info, and also Jabba101 has some great youtube videos you could check out. these lights are fabulous, everytime I mess with it I find something new as to how it works. I also purchased AoA's new subsurface tutorial hoping to learn more about subsurface to use in conjunction with the lights. that tutorial is great info on the subsurface shader.

Thanks Kharma, good to know. Anything that can hold my hand along the learning curve will be great.

Novica -- Hudson is looking gorgeous. I like the textures of that backdrop too.

It's interesting that those columns almost look like they have depth of field, and they don't.
Note Hudson's eyes- love the iris details. The product page will show you all of them.

This is the frontal shot of Hudson, no changes to her or the Purple Rain Outfit, except for:

    Orion Hair (3Dream, Mairy)
    http://www.daz3d.com/orion-hair

Comes with 31 colors, some are natural, some are fantasy. Looks good on both men and women. Very versatile, is a contemporary look but can also appear windswept.

EDIT: Click to enlarge and see the eyebrows. I added a bit of imperfect hair where they start, above the nose. The brows were too perfect for my tastes.

@ Novica Interesting. Haven't seen the popup codes yet. Too bad these things always show up after I've made a purchase. I should know better than to buy in the morning! I will not learn apparently. I like what you did with Marauders. Those are very nice renders and the red background is cool and Marielle hair is lovely. That looks like it would look good on a young girl as well. =-)

coming up: I'm doing (hopefully, if the products work right)

Casual Surf Wear for Genesis (DAZ3D) On sale 72% off at $2.72
    http://www.daz3d.com/casual-surf-wear-for-genesis

Alexios Hair On sale 60% at $6.78
    http://www.daz3d.com/alexios-hair

Okay, so it's $2.79 at 72% off- and a DAZ product. So think about this. Find all the DO's you don't own that are 72% off, spend 30.00 and get $6 off automatically, then if you are a PC member, use your code and get ANOTHER $6 off. Gotta love it. $12 off stuff that is already 60 to 72% off.

And the thread has products in the recently in the thread that are DAZ co-vendored. (Just mentioned the Purple Rain Outfit, etc)

EDIT: AND YOU GET 10% OFF IF IT IS OVER $50 when you add it to the cart- not after the discounts are applied! That ends tonight btw.

I know, right? I've stopped buying until mid afternoon, and even then, they get me. If you go to the very first page, you'll see the popups. They literally just got activated when I posted because I've been going page to page for various reasons. EDIT- they are also as a band across the top of the pages, in a rust/pumpkin color. Click on the thin banner (See how you can....blah blah blah) and it activates the popup.

I think you'd like Marauders because of the booty. I have Cyborgs 4.0 in my cart since 1am this morning, it's almost 12.00 and I like the bootys on them too. It's broken into two thin sections and not obnoxious.
    http://www.daz3d.com/cyborgs-4-0

While popups are nice, wish they'd get the CloudFare thing fixed- focus on things that DONT work before adding new features. Tired of signing in and out of the forums and the site, right?!!!!

Let me go load up a Genesis male (still looking for one that I want to do) with the clothes and hair and start the render.

LOL!! No I wont. I for one make sure NO site can run a POP UP Code on my PC. Much needed offer or not pop ups are the one way to really hit a PC user without the user ever thinking anything about it. I'm all for some Javascript auto running in the Background as allowed when it can be any code they wish to stick in there. NOT going to happen on my PC EVER. Trusted Site or not.

    Swashbuckler Boots M4

Just a quick demo of something in a Flash Sale at the moment - not sure how long for!

I just picked these up in the Age of Armour Flash Sale (60% off) - they are actually for M4 but autofit quite well to M6, except the shins. There are adjustment morphs though - here I just increased the shins by 60% to fit not only M6's legs but also the Sir Worthington pants he's wearing. (These don't have enough mat zones to hide that area.) They fit almost without adjustment on a naked M6 but I couldn't really post that :)
I also picked up the V4 version which has interchangeable textures - each have several colours so that's quite a lot of boot for your money ($3.98 each in the Flash Sale).

@Novica - you made that Mariella hair look really nice, I'm tempted - which I must resist as I've spent nearly $60 on hair and characters in the last two days!

You'll know though- we'll be mentioning them here (Anikad, bless you- you're always on the ball!) and I'm sure since you're monitoring all the threads, folks will let you know. I do have a question- have we been getting newletters? I haven't gotten one in over a month and a half I think. I didn't unsubscribe either. I saw someone else mention they hadn't gotten one in over a month.

Yes we have been getting News letters, I just got one not long ago. If you ask the Mod Team (I'll hunt the Addy for you) they can check your settings, there has been a glitch known to happen from time to time. But First things First. WHEN was the last time you killed ALL your DAZ 3D Cookies? They and yes there should be more than one are known to cause issues with both the Forums and the Site. If your Cookies are getting old (weeks) Kill them. That in itself often will fix 99% of errors users have.

I've deleted cookies twice just in the past three days. I do it often :)
I read on a post about one specific daz_(whatever) cookie causes the glitch, but I didn't see it at the time when I had the post in front of me.

I'll get the Boss to go check your Settings when they come back on line. It's just us nuts that prefer to work the night shift on the team right now. None of us have the ability to go do the check. The Bosses can do it but only them, not us we do this for fun Admins.

Gabriel for Michael 4 and Michael 5 (Raiya) On Sale 50% off for $7.48

Tera Poses For Hiro 5 (DAZ3D)
    http://www.daz3d.com/tera-poses-for-hiro-5

The hair went on easily, this is it without any tweaking. Gabriel is easy to light and also shown without any morphing. There is an eye reflection option and you have several choices for the reflection.

The Surf Wear gives you nice vibrant colors but also some of the nice neutral ones too. The flip flops come in a variety of colors. The clothes went on without any adjustments. Do note when you use the white ones, every muscle shows and so does the belly button unless you adjust it. Found it to be a bit too tight for my personal preferences.

The Treehouse looks good from a variety of different angles. I will be adding some more renders here, so check back. I won't use depth of field so you can see the details of the set.

The Tera poses are great for the stand your ground and don't mess with me stances. I love the clenched fist!

The sky is Skull Cove but the lights are mine.

Gotta go put the blanket back ON the horse. Be glad when spring arrives! At least we're all not in the minus zero to +5 real feel range anymore though. :) Back in a hour or so.

EDIT: Added another Treehouse image. Note the branch is really notched out by the steeple, and one other branch looks really shoved into the trunk. Not very impressed. Also, there are floating leaves without branches.

Hmm. No love for poor Me. I've never seen the TAKE-6 popup code. And it doesn't work. I threw a number of DZfire things in there, and no love. Could it be user specific?

Oh, I see, fine print again. it only works if you used the last coupon. I did not. I think it was the height of the sexy sale and I needed no more female stuff.

I do see the pop up about 10% ending tonight though.

The fine print says it is a special thank you to those who used the coupon last. Which I think I skipped the last time. Nothing will work.

Throw Stephanie 5 pro in there and see if the coupie works on her.

It is okay if it doesn't. I do have enough, but you have tempted me with those cyborgs. =-)

Just curious about the popup coupon code..is it a one time use only? when it popped up on my screen I had an order about to check out and used the code but don't see the popup anymore. Had anyone else used it more than once?

  • NovicaNovica Posts: 23,887

When it says next order, that's a one time shot. Mine disappeared too.
Got the cyborgs for $8.90 because of the -6 coupon and the 10% hitting $50, so got 9 things for 39.00 which averages out to $4.33 per item. It's Melanie's fault I got both sets of boots. :) Guess it's payback for all the items I lure people to....

Hah. Very stealthily I'm sure. Truth is, I I have seen them before, but wasn't sure about them. Bit expensive for me, and they have a terminator feel which I Wasn't sure about.

I decided not to get them. The coupon might've enticed me, but without one, I'll wait to see what I'm offered next week.

I'll try to experiment with them the next day or so/this weekend. It says you can put Victoria 4 clothes and poses on them so we'll have some fun.

I don't CARE if that banner is back, I refuse to spend another dime....
