Okay, Here is Mei-Lin 6 body with Tachi V4 Skin. For some reason, I just haven't had results I like with Mei-Lan's default texture. I'll continue to try, but until then, I'm going back to my favorite female Asian skin Tachi V4. And she has nice eyebrows too... =-)

Battle Kimono (Daz 3d, Shifting Images)

I'm going to say the Battle Kimono is my favorite outfit released today. It has nice coverage, realistic texture, and includes a weapon, textures, and lights. All for a couple of bucks with my PC plus discount. Plus those folds! Oh my. No painted on rubber dough! This is what gen 2 outfits should look like.

Very nice lighting- and I'll have to keep Tachi in mind. You know me and eyebrows! Yeah, that outfit was such a nice surprise for the PC members- very nice. EDIT: Love your camera angle too!

BTW, for the folks who didn't catch a question I asked on another thread, there is a V3/V4 set of fairy wings that have been updated to include V5 and V6. I asked about the compatible as it didn't list anyone, Jen updated the product the page, the wings are now for quite a few generations. It's 1.99 but the POSES are still .99 if you hurry. :)

I like the hair a lot. It has some good morphs to it and is a reasonable semi-up-do for women that doesn't catch too much around the shoulders.

So I was curious and got the wings. Love 'em! They have these fun trailers that curl around with lit lights on the end. I didn't add any lighting to the wings at all, and wanted to show you what they look like with a dark background. Since I normally don't dabble in faeries, I put mine in Sadie Dress and changed the diffuse and specular to blue on two of the sections. She's a family friendly faerie, lol.

End of Summer Hair has a silver gray option so you can turn it into other colors.

FWF Britany HD Character And Dress (FWArt / Fisty)
    Radiance for Genesis 2 Female(s) (DAZ3D / 3DLust)

    http://www.daz3d.com/radiance-for-genesis-2-female-s
    http://www.daz3d.com/fwf-britany-hd-character-and-dress

This was one of the experimental kit-bashes, for those of you who use the sexier outfits. :) I like putting body suits under these type of items for a layered look (like what I did with Oceana, a few posts back.) The Britany dress is one piece but with different surface areas so you can opague out the top- I do wish (hint- vendors) that the trim of the top was a different zone from the bottom trim so the top can be completely removed without affecting the bottom skirt's trim. So for this kit-bash, you're looking at the Britany skirt with the Radiance top. (Yeah, imagine Fisty and FWArt with 3DLust!)

With all the holes in the top, I thought it had an architectural sci-fi look (if that makes sense.) All surface area colors were also changed. The mesh down the side and in the middle of the bodice is a dark color and hard to change. I went with a navy blue and it doesn't show up very much.

So it's a bit different, but some of you may find it useful :)

Reality has a very good manual, but learning curves can be steep because of my advanced age.
I like it a lot and learn a little bit more with each effort. You can check my Gallery here for a few more examples. I think you can see my progression. I also have Luxus, but I won't compare them here, as I don't feel it would be fair to compare similar products.

    @TJohn: Nice render in reality.

Okay, here is miss Mei-Lin again. This time, tried a different skin on her. The skin is FW Sayuri. Just for a difference.

    FWJ Sayuri (FWArt, EmmaAndJordi)
    http://www.daz3d.com/fwej-sayuri
    Thian Hair (DAZ3d, AprilYSH)
    http://www.daz3d.com/thian-hair-for-genesis-2-female-s
Blowin' in the Wind Tool (DAZ3d, Nerd3d)
    http://www.daz3d.com/blowin-in-the-wind-tool

I wanted to try the hair Thian Hair, and I must say, despite my reservations I really like it. Definitely this is a stylized anime/manga style hair, but the movement and sense of presence the hair adds to a the render is really cool.

I also found that if you own the character Sunehri, that her lights work really well on Miss Mei-Lin.

The Blowin in the wind tool adds some much needed floaty props, for your render, but watch out for the white lines around the petals when rendering over a dark surface.

I haven't tried that hair yet- looks like it has really nice movement. Your character really comes off nicely- very exuberant about life. Clever idea with the rose petals. I haven't used the Blowing tool yet- do you get to choose what goes where? Thanks for the tip about the white lines too.

Yeah, that top as a sci-fi top would need something layered to be family friendly, but I found it wasn't as skimpy as I first thought. The holes in it are sexy, but you see more on the beach with bikinis than you do with this outfit :)

There are some beautiful renders here, both Mei Lin and the fairy/Britany. AprilYSH's hair looks perfect for that kind of scene, SereneNight. Lovely pose for the character too!

Just a heads up that the V4/M4 category has changed to category 4. I'm off to see what I like the look of.

Yep, I've been shopping the last couple of hours off and on. I'm having to remove from the cart because the sale isn't even close to being over so I'll have show some restraint. I'm going for hair first. :) The ones I don't have are

    http://www.daz3d.com/kosmos-hair
http://www.daz3d.com/mademoiselle-hair (thought for sure I had this one.)

The full body textures are downright creepy- in a good way. Very effective. Be sure and look at the thumbnails!
    http://www.daz3d.com/creatura-serpenta-for-victoria-4

This comes with the ponytail and I like the freckled forehead and thicker eyebrows. Normally pretty expensive, a really good deal right now.

Sounds like a good selection you have there, Novica.

Anyone who wants to do some martial arts renders, maybe with Mei Lin or Lee, should take a look at Merlin's Complete Samurai Bundle:
    http://www.daz3d.com/pc-sale-v4-m4-category-4/complete-samurai-bundle which includes:

    Merlin's Katana: http://www.daz3d.com/merlins-katana
    Samurai Blades: http://www.daz3d.com/samurai-blades-by-merlin
    Wakizashi and Tanto: http://www.daz3d.com/wakizashi-and-tanto-by-merlin
    Shinto Samurai: http://www.daz3d.com/shinto-samurai

OK, so the props parent to V4/M4, but at 80% off it's worth the extra tweaks.

@Novica: the rose petals are on little clear transparent slides, you can move them around somewhat, or hide them. I like the idea. Just wish there were more options and for a product update. It is an oldie and I have limited use for the insect slide. HEH

Looks like gift cards are on sale today with purchase.

@SereneNight - loving your renders with the Battle Kimono (I got it, but I haven't downloaded it yet)
@tjohn - nice Reality render there
@Novica - thanks for your latest list of V4/M4 Sale ideas - I'd never seen some of those before - especially the creatura-serpenta, which I may grab for $2.59 while I wait to pick up the Succubus tail for G2F next time it's in a good offer.

I saw an email on that. I like the way they are changing things up during the sale. PC items, V4/M4 selections changing, etc. But I feel sorry for people not on the forums, how are they supposed to know the selection has changed? Unless they look at the URL and see Category X has changed... Who does that? I will have to see if the promo art changes and if it says NEW selection, I haven't paid attention. But why did they go from 1, to 7, to 4? DAZ Logic.

Jindi- that is a really cool bundle. I remember two years ago, Merlin was one of the first vendors I swooped in on. SO detailed. IMO Faveral and Merlin are my top two for quality/details when it comes to sets. And SO many props- they are very generous.

    http://www.daz3d.com/faveral
    http://www.daz3d.com/merlin-studios

I got tickled- although it was most likely a coincidence, let's thank Kerya for the gift card sale. She asked about it and POOF! (Are you reading this Kerya? We owe you.) :) Anyone who sponsors contests should take advantage and buy several (if you are getting more than one new release, break them up into different orders and get more than one gift card. Or for special gifts. It will still be going tomorrow so maybe there is something else you might like.)

The reason I am wondering- look at this little cutie. Which requires the preschooler morphs.

Okay, so... (and thanks Melanie! Big help.)

Title says: The Millennium People - Generations 1 and 2
Millennium Girls (preteen and preschool-aged girls), and the Millennium Boys (preteen and preschool-aged boys)
    http://www.daz3d.com/millennium-boys
    http://www.daz3d.com/millennium-girls

    **********************************************************
    then
    Title: Generation 3
The third-generation figures included Victoria 3, Michael 3, Stephanie Petite 3, Luke and Laura (preteens), Matt and Madison (preschoolers),

    Which was
http://www.daz3d.com/millennium-kids-preschoolers (When you open What’s Included it tells you it’s Gen3) and "hello to Matt and Madison" tells you this is Matt and Maddie. (**) So the preschoolers are Matt and Maddie.

    Used with http://www.daz3d.com/preschoolers-morphs (***)

    And the Young Teens are:
    http://www.daz3d.com/millennium-kids-young-teens (Luke and Laura)

So what I am looking at, is the description for Juniper.
Juniper is a sweet little preschool girl for Maddie 3 (so okay, now I get it. Gen3, and it requires the preschooler morphs (***) which works with the Millennium Kids Preschoolers (**)

    There's also
    http://www.daz3d.com/jazmine
    http://www.daz3d.com/kayleigh
http://www.daz3d.com/a-child-s-tale-brianna-bryan (Bryan would be cute- probably not for closeups, can't tell much about the textures. But doesn't he look like a spunky child?)

    http://www.daz3d.com/total-aggression-pose-pack
    http://www.daz3d.com/fw-sebastian-incubus-expansion

Hope Smay isn't counting on any sales when people do a search for Bad Guy- everything in the kitchen sink comes up except the product! (Don't worry Smay, I reported it.)

This is my very first Freak and as I said on the Freak 6 thread, I HATE the muscled men being called that. It's insulting and embarrassing IMO that a product was named to insult people. And frankly, I would love in real life for the product namers to try calling one of these dudes that as they pass by them on the sidewalk. "Hey, Freak!" (Splat. Call next of kin.)

I worked on this all evening. I wanted a challenge- a dark skinned individual against a dark background with dusky lighting. Lighting in daylight would be easier, but where's the dramatic lighting in that? So tweak, tweak, tweak. If you want to know a good lightset to try with your darker skinned folks, try the Sebastian Incubus Expansion. I did a lot of tweaks though, you won't get this out of the box with that.

I changed the teeth (diffuse, specular) and the dog tags (made them darker, too much glow) and all the colors and intensities of the lights, and added a few.

If you don't like Freaks' body proportions and want a muscular man who isn't HUGE or disproportionate, here's a bit of the formula I used to reduce those gawd- awful hands and feet, and slenderizing a few other body parts (such as the monsterous thighs.)
These are in order, but I CUT OUT the zero sliders so you might have some sliders in between these. Go down the columns, then go back up to the top. Hope this saves you some time if you want to tweak areas. The hands, feet, and thighs were the most impacted.

This is a very large render and appears darker due to the resizing- so be sure to click/click again to enlarge and see the details.

I am aware there is a horizontal line on his head, that isn't the lighting and not the render settings- they are all on excellent (shading rate .20, etc) SereneNight had that problem too so she is going to email me tomorrow (it's 2am) with what she did to remove it. Anyone else get that, and have the answer?

Thank you- I was really, really pleased.
I will have to show you something that I do not like, and that is the palm color cutting off on the forearm/wrist. Note Derek is even darker than the other render, to ensure the lighter area wasn't being unfairly lit. The other side, which is lit differently, does the same thing, and look closely at the original Derek and you'll see where the white comes down and ends abruptly. I'd rather see more fade. This is the same side, one is enlarged. I changed the hand pose so you could see it better.

I have to get some sleep (it's 6:20am) but if anyone else has done Derek, please check our renders for the palm/wrist/forearm area and tell us what you think.
